  1. Change of plans ... Meeting police officer Stu( Hop Scotch cop) in his gazelle( Flappy bird) at Brooklands air park and then flying back here to Sherlock so he can check out the lightwing and drifter rebuild :). All welcome to join us , will have the billy boiled. But I will be bailing at 9 am for appointment .

  6. Yes I had to look at the thruster reg!with the colour I first thought it was my lady 1. Very sad news, condolences to the families Thank you for the info Ross and understandably must be hard.
  7. when I attached the hangar to the house I figured on corrugated iron door panels . The wife says " better put see through doors on to let the sun light in". WTF!!! OMG. WOOPIE.. I mean oh ok boss lady. Now get to see it inside and out.

  9. Welcome to the skies, I'd agree 1 hr a week minimum. Don't push yourself to overload ,if you can afford 2 hrs, do each hour on different days so you can reflect clearer on each lesson. Don't be shy to ask questions.. Each indervidual is different though so it really comes down to you! You found this forum which tells me you have defiantly been bit by the bug... awesome. Read every thing you can .. Good luck So what ya learning in?and where?
  10. Not ruling out flying the lighty over to avalon east. Just yet . Need to find out weight of books for calcs. I think it will be to close with time .. If book is not here by Avalon I will be going anyway - will be there on weekend Just look for the short, slightly pregnant, balding guy .. lol
  11. Yeh tragic end to an eccentric fellow. Not sure I'd eat at his dinner table , scared of heights and all. Lol He believed whole heartily that he was the true invented of aircraft, when ww1 lost so many lives with "his" invention he couldn't handle the blood on his hands ( in his own words) so he ended his life . Mental illness at its worst. He was a true pioneer. My no 1 hero Edit : I'm going to build a demoiselle one day, just not out of bambo and bed sheets ;)
  12. Yeh every show for 10 years , won the circa de elegance ( spelling? ) one year . But being the big ww1 celebration I'm pretty disappointed not to be able to have her there

Recreational Aviation Australia ( formally Australian Ultralight Federation) now overseas the safe operation of this level of aircraft for any and all who wish to participate, and allows for the orderly continuence of this adventurist sport forged by those portrayed in this great book.   16. I was 6 years old and my uncles mate decided to sell his hang glider at our garage sale. I watched very intensively as put the giant red bird together. He then put me in this huge harness and hung me underneath. I refused to exit and hung there ALL DAY ( was one hell of a wedgie but I didn't care).He told me how to fly with weight shift and it stuck in my mind( even as a 6 yo). The thought of flying around with total freedom entranced me. I too started on models advancing to being able to design and fly my own rc models. But it just never satisfied me enough.. I went on to fly my motor cycle( littarally) But again that yearning fir flight possessed me.. Long storey short through a series of unbelievable coincidence ( or destiny? ) I found I was the proud owner of an ultralight .. So I owned a plane but oops. I had never actually been in a plane before! And I was afraid of heights... The rest is history :) Obsessed aviator

  18. You would not believe how overwhelmed I am right now!,,, IM LOVING IT . Lol Ph, emails, friends request, planes flying over head wing waiving... Went from quote of 50 books to 100 and now committed to 200. By the looks I may need a second order?
