  1. Thanks 2 All Just down loaded the Code Weavers, just had a quick look at it and seems to be working, Thanks Bass
  2. Hi Was wondering if anyone has AirNav on a Mac Book, the fella said at the shop I could install windows just to run it if I need. Is this the best option? if so how do I go about it? Thank You Guy i_dunno
  3. Hi Jim can be tough, however looks like you have done the right thing! Sometimes we do need other peope to just give us a bit of jog! Yes it can be a challenge to take someone aside and share your concerns, just to have them abuse you. If they are human at some stage hopefully they will return and accept what you have done for them and appolagise. Have had some "challenges" ones self, have found it good on some occasions to talk it through with our Operations Manager, just to help make sure I am on track, before disscussing it with the person we feel has been pushing the boundries. If you really feel it totally falls on deaf ears, then it may possibly be the time to share the full story with our Ops Manager and let him deal with it! It's one of the things he is there for! You have done well, Keep it Up!
  4. All Good Stuff, and one other a good headset makes a huge difference. Your own is a great idea, Just recently bought a fancy ANR (active noise reduction) headset. At about $1100 it is a great investment. It is very quite, allowing for those susspect transmisions to be a little clearer.
  5. Great Photo MrH Maybe you could sell it to the company for advertising. I have just upgraded to this new thing that sometimes even works as a phone, it has a 5mega pix camera and God knows what else!
  6. Hi Latestarter we all start late at some thing's whether flying or not! Welcome to the amazing world of flight. Where do you have your TIF booked and what type of aircraft do they operate, maybe more than one type! Some schools stick to one basic type of machine. While others have many different ones. If you learn where there are many different types, at some stage you will be able to check them all out. Or as Decca says just hang about and someone will take you for a ride in one or all ! Gazelles come to mind as a great machine, don't go all that fast, however this doesn't matter if you are not in a hurry. Sometimes it is fantastic to be able to count the rocks in the field on the way past. And they are still faster than the average car! I own a faster GA machine, and also a slow RAA machine. I only get the fast one out when I need to be somewhere. The slow one is just great fun and very enjoyable! Each to thier own! Also keep a Kite in the boot of the car just in case I feel the need to fly and only have my car with me! Lovin' It Cheers
  7. Hi There Fellow Aviator’s, as we all know this is a great site with much information and a fantastic camaraderie, which we would all like to see keeping on. With this in mind we have elected to take up the kindly offered opportunity in this thread of advertising. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> BLUE SHED AVIATION began life in Jamestown SA. However we are now relocating to Temora in NSW. At Temora we will be offering Tail wheel, Advanced and Low Level Training, also assisting Jill@ Temora Flight Training as required. <o:p></o:p> All in the FUTURE as we are in relocation mode at the moment! <o:p></o:p> Contact [email protected] www.blueshed.com.au 0408 859697 <o:p></o:p> In the Mean Time Be Safe. And we’ll “See You in the Big Blue Shed” THOUGHT’S, would appreciate some, in relation to what you would like in the way of Low Level Training. Looking at the possibility of including some low level flying with the Advanced Training. So as to help pilot’s to become confident at handling emergencies occurring at the lower levels. Cheers Guy Guy's Background, RAA CFI,L2, Ag Pilot:helmet: Since 1988 !
  8. Welcome Gord Depends on what you want to do with your flying, how often and how far afiueld you wish to travel, also whether you need to count the gate post's or see them as a Blur. As planey say's keep us posted !
  9. Guess So Tomo, as they seem to slow down real quick with out them! Suppose that is why they call it "Hitting The Skid's" maybe!
  10. Welcome Paul You'LL Love It! We have just put our name on a block at Temora! Great Spot! Cheers Guy
  11. Welcome Potter You'll Love It! Tomo whats this training wheel business? These are conventional undercarriaged aircraft, all the rest have training wheel's! Cheers Guy
  12. Welcome Chris a side line ? Apprentice Engineer, does this mean you do both practical and theory at the same time or have you done the theory and now are doing a practical apprenticeship. I figure you figure what I are trying to ask! All the best with the training you won't regret it, I learnt to fly in Glider's while doing a Fitting apprenticeship back in the eighties. Cheers Guy
  13. Welcome FlightyGirl Just to Add to Your Totals! How are the landing's going? Rule One, Don't try to Land, keep it flying! Rule Two, Maintain wheel's at 2" above tarmac, don't fix eye's in one spot, move focus far away then closer and far away and so on. Maybe perifferal vision (not a spelling comp!) out to side! Be careful Rule Three, Start at Rule One, and as you are obviously doing, HAVE FUN. All the Best Cheers Guy
  14. Hi To All Thanks Geoff for bringing this to light! It is not only to your frustration, however also to the frustration of Both of our RAA operations managers M & L. I was the Unicom operator at the time of this event! As it was unfolding I was also in comm's with our opp's manager's who informed me they were onto the performance. As CASA was at this event and were duly informed of what had happened, they (CASA) I believe did not wish to act on it at all as they thought they were RAA aircraft and therefore would be delt with by the RAA. So basically CASA has so far had no response to the happenings, or so I believe. From our spot up the "sissor lift" it was an extremely poor performance from the aircraft involved! When I started to read this thread, without looking at your diagram, I new imediately the event with which you were refering. From the Unicom point of view the majority of everyone who flew in while I was present, were to say the least "Very Good". The challenges come for us when for no reason someone decides to stop in the middle of a runnway or even at the intersection of TWO runways, Taking them out of action. Very frustrating for all in the circuit trying to land with a full complement in the circuit and more inbound. If you do manage to get on the ground PLEASE Expidite the active runway, "Get Outside the gable markers". Inside them and you are still on the active runway! One poor sole was sent round twice concecutively (twice in a Row), Her performance was Exemperlary (Extremely Good). She maintained her cool at all stages and carried on AVIATING, NAVIGATING, and COMMUNICATING. Well done to the pilot of VH-BNP. Enough from me cheers
  15. Hi Maj Thanks for Z pics Looks Just Fantasic!
  16. Once you figure out how you will get there! In the mean time you could figure out how to make the money you do have, earn more for you than the misserable amount of interest the banks are willing to give. It can be done! Cheers Guy
  17. Great Thread Hi Guy's have just read this thread this morning, Great teaching from many of you, Orf's experience is very engaging, a Meteor, Wow. Many other's are suggesting that it is mostly up to the instructor to supply all required information to the Student. Just remember we are also Human and in some cases are not perfect, I am the first to admit this! After flying with many different students on Nav's it is very easy to determine which students have been doing their study! With their attitudes intact. This Web site is such a great tool for sharing information and asking question's. When I started as a student we spent our social net working at the Bar after the day's flying, as with this site there was a great wealth of information. I still am learning from this form of social net working, as well as from the flying I do and also learn from my student's. Happy Flying Guy
