Hi Guy's the strip which is only 2-3nm to the north west is a much better strip if you are that way, can put you in contact with the owner if you like, the other strip which is nearer Mintaro is used by Areotech Ag Av, Jamestown is a good place, close enough to walk to town if you please, And there is going to be a serious airshow there in October this year. There is also a strip just north of clare only 320m long and usually has a x wind, there is another strip north of the Kirrabilly winery on the way back into Clare from Farrell Flat, sorry for not seeing your post sooner ! both of hse strips mentioned have Foxbats operted from them ! Hi Ross, what sort of info would you like? mine is tailwheel 180 hp 0360 Lycoming, indicates 135kts at 6500' and uses about 30 litres an hour, the only utility homebuilt around. It is 2 + 2 seating meaning you can fit one small fella in the back or two kids and the wife in the front with you, this one was originally built with a nose wheel and later converted to tail therefore the fuel caps are inthe wrong spot to be able to fill her up, however it still can fir 360 litres in originally it would have had 480 litres. Two tanks at 120 litres would have been plenty I would have thought

Hi Guy's I use MSA ARCTIC disposable sunnies, Safety Specs, very good deffinition of things in the sky especially when looking at clouds, buy them buy the box full for about $8-$10 each. 12 to a box the box usually lasts for 12 months and you always have a spare pair with you ! They are of the wrap around type ! These ae very light and I tend to wear them with the arms just above the ear cups of my head set. However if you are using confor foam earseals these do manage to form around the arms quite well ! When in the AT502 I wear a flight suit, made from cotton drill, depending on the temp I may have more or less clothing underneath, cotton breaths ! And of course a helmet with dark visor, need a peak though ! When in Jabby Cotton trousers and Shirt, long sleeves, elastic sided leather boots. When in low wing broad rim hat, many sunshades stolen from my kids car window and lots of SLOP ! and only in Winter ! Cheers Guy

Hi Guy's Appreciate the lack of speculation as to what has happened ! Still piecing the bits togther ! Yes it is amazing how you can mangle a machine and walk away, What an Aircraft ! Not sure of the actual course as yet, the man has a very sore foot and has been sent to Adelaide via a PC12 (the things you have to do to get a ride in one!) so they can realign his foot ! All I know at his point ! other than he said he thought he would take the back seat in the PC12. Still got his sense of Humour, very important ! Good Onya Ross have enjoyed very much reading this thread, brings back some memories, learnt in a Blanik and then a C172 at Tumut, did a ground school at Brobenah in84 or 5, went for a fly in the Kooka at the end of the week and came away with a form 2 inspection authority. My now wife learnt to fly at Griffith and got to know some of the lads there ! Usually refuel there on the way to Mittagong when visiting family, haven't been for a while. No rain No Work No Fuel money, gets us all! Now train in the Jamestown Flying Group's J230, what a great ship, what do I have to do to get my glider tow rating back, used to have a GA one many years ago, mostly in a C182. Would love to revisit some spin training etc sounds like Horsham is the place! Lovin It Cheers Guy

There are some later models now, do you know which year it is built? There are a few down this way, earlier model did cost about 91K not sure if this included tax or not, and the later model with a few extra gizmo's cost about 123K. And I feel they both have the same engine 100hp rotax! and Red ones go faster, however they also fad faster! Nice aero plane to fly, awesome visability. Cheers Guy:thumb_up:

Yenn what is the formula for a PNR (point of no return)? 63nm , thruster Tas? 55kts - 25kts hw = 30kts gs, or .5nm/min whole trip = 126 mins fuel 40l @ 16l/hour = 150mins endurance! Was the 25kt hw forecast or was it encountered whilst airbourne? If forecast you would have planned a refueling stop, if encountered whilst airbourne, you are allowed to use your fixed reserve of 45mins, you would have had 24mins up your sleeve. Hope it wasn't all cross wind when you got there! Have I read your post correctly? and have we managed to figure it out? Cheers Guy

Ben Check out the Opp's manual it explains what you require. Good coments from above. What would you like to achieve from running a school??? is it to make money? Have a good time with others, or just to fill in the day? Would you also have a maintenance facility, where would you get your'e maintenance done if not, even minor things require a level 2 authorisation. Clubs, good, can be interesting! As for books we are using the Jim Davis PPL book as it is written in plain English and redilly digestable. Well discussed and with a very good index, this makes finding that ilusive bit of information fantastically simple, Just google Jim Davis PPL, available from a place in WA, and no I do not make a cent unles you are at my flying school and you buy it from me! I reckon if we all caried chain saws we could use them to cut our way out! or maybe even a cordless jig saw/circular saw, or even a hand saw, as long as you have a vent hole this would work! Seriously has any one actually ever tried smashing a piece of perspex, it ain't easy. And if you have got a little carried away and used plexiglass you will have no hope! If you fly a Jabby I reckon the doors would still open even if bent and twisted! Then again I am not wishing to find out! Cheers Guy
