Why do Boeing planes start and end with the number 7?
WayneL replied to Robbo's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
I remember reading that the middle number indicates when it was designed with regard to a time line. E.G. 727 was designed before the 737 but that didn't alway mean the earlier design had it's maiden flight first. Wayne -
Early 210's with gear bay doors were the most likely models to have gear trouble, if the doors were not adjusted right they would interfere with the legs during an operating cycle. Wayne

Thanks Riley and Kasper, you have both come the closest to answering my post. I do agree with all posters that a Condition Report really only represents the condition at the time of inspection. I was trying to find out if forum members knew how long after the inspection date was the report acceptable to RAA for the purpose of transferring Rego and where this information is located in print. The report would have to have a expiry date or some other limit imposed, otherwise what would the point in RAA wanting one at the time of transfer if it wasn't a recent report. I have to disagree to some extent with Nev that the report is not the same as a Vehicle Safety Certificate. As a have said above, I agree it is only a basic safety check/audit valid at the time it was done, but the both the ACR and the VSC are required by the relevant licensing authorities before Rego can be transferred. The QLD VSC is valid for 1 month or 1000km (which ever comes first) from memory. This does not mean the vehicle is roadworthy for all of that period but QLD Transport reason that it is most likely the vehicle is in a similar condition to the condition at the date of inspection. Who is going to accept a vehicle that's crashed or had some mechanical damage and has a recent Safety Certificate, Buyer beware? Same goes for the aircraft, check it out! So a Aircraft Condition Report should have limits on it's validity (for RAA Rego Transfer purposes) and it should be easy to find this information. In my opinion this should be written the the Condition Report form. Thanks again Riley for pointing out the time is 3 months but you weren't able to point me to any document where the 3 month period is stated. Kasper, thank you for agreeing with me that it is not in the Tech Manual and info from both of your posts is interesting and has shed some light on my post. By the way, last year I did ask the Tech Manager the same question/s and did not get a definitive answer, this did not affect my rego transfer but I was left wondering.......hence the thought to ask forum users if they knew where to find the info in PRINT. Yes, I remember Barry's incident with the flipped Rally, more so the story/s which Barry told so well. Some interesting characters back then. One day Col Winton asked me to take some photos of a newly built Sportsman he was about to test fly for the first time. He took it up and flew around low for 5 minutes and got some reasonable shots. On landing he said he was holding in aileron all the time. We discovered one wing was at a different AoA to the other. Out came the drill and a new trailing edge bolt hole was drilled in the fuselage and the wing rebolted to this hole. Next flight he reported it in prefecy trim! Remember looking at Sparrow Hawk at Bundy airshow one year and liking the modular fiberglass wing sections that slid onto the tubular alloy spar. Not sure how heavy that would be though. I thought it was a nice looking design. Wayne

My condolences to family and friends of Chris Conroy. A sad loss. Chris had a real passion for boats and aircraft and was always designing something new. I first meet Chris in person when I attended the first meeting of the Gold Coast Ultralight Club at Runaway Bay yacht club in the early 80's. As a number of those early members were yachties and because of the restrictions we had when flying over the land, flying off the water was popular. Chris had his Jackaroo on floats, Barry Hughes was attempting to learn to fly with his Rotec on floats and I made my first ultralight flight on a float equiped American Aerolights Eagle canard design ultralight from the broadwater. They were fun times but not always safe times. Unfortunately I remember at least 1 fatality at our Jacob's Well turf farm strip. I remember one amusing event at the turf farm when Chris decided to land on the strip in his float equiped Jackaroo.... it was a safe but quick stop. He decided to try and takeoff on the wet grass with the help of a number of club members pushing while he "gunned it"........it was never going to happen though! The floats had to be taken off and I think from memory it was discovered the floats had holes on the bottom from the skid landing......not good for a water landing! I left the club in the mid 80's after the loss of the field we used on the southern side of Don McClaren's Marina (Horizon Shores Marina) but often talked to Chris at flyins and airshows where he would be promoting his lastest DVD or aircraft. RIP Chris. Regards, Wayne

An interesting account of a midair collision. http://airfactsjournal.com/2016/01/surviving-mid-air/?utm_source=airfacts&utm_medium=email&trk_msg=N6DQPTBO5RT4HE0OGAG61SHE3G&trk_contact=81ITB35CRCCSR03KF47TR8M3IK&utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=SURVIVING+A+MID-AIR&utm_campaign=A16013F&utm_content=How+Flying+Saved+My+Life

Condition Reports I am told are valid for 6 months. Anyone know where it is stated in print. It is not on the report form. I have looked at the tech manual and can not see any reference to validity there. I suggested to my local RAA rep that it should be on the form just like a vehicle safety certificate form. Wayne

My WHOLE aeroplane cost less than that!!!!!!

We didn't pay because they were special invites like club flyin and open day etc. Sara Hales is the airport public relations officer who did good work in organizing these visits. Wayne

Sorry to see it leave the se qld area. Brett you must have been lucky to squeeze in that last flight on Sunday. We left Oakey (driving) at 8am in drizzle after overnight rain and had constant drizzle all the way to Hervey Bay with some heavy rain past Susan river. Been blowing a gale since then. Wayne

Was in the termainal yesterday and noticed that two arrivals were on the board, a qantas link flight arriving at 17:00 and one at 23:58 with a flight number starting with SNA..... Media was there covering news of the Air North flights but what I could not figure out was why they were filming xmas presents being scanned by security! What a dummy...all became clear on the local news last night...Santa was arriving at midnight. Merry Christmas everyone. Wayne

Probably no real help but I remember a property on Beelbi Creek road that had a strip. Looking on google earth it is the first cleared property on the right past the the treed property when travelling away from the Pialba - Burrum heads road. On the right just past the slight right hand kink in the road. Remember looking back in 2009 when it was for sale for $750K approx. There is also an airstrip on Toogoom Island on the northern side of the Beelbi creek mouth. Was for sale around the same time as above property, price was about 4MIL. did have cabins on property and was marketed to small resort buyers. You could try contacting the local real estate to see if they can help with contacts. Mark Pearce from Pacific Haven may have better updated local knowledge, some members of this forum will have his details that they can pass on to you. Wayne.

Put a nose wheel on it?

For a B737 it is $17per tonne.
-
Might cost a pretty penny, check the charges on the Wellcamp airport web site. Wayne Checked: $60 MIN PLUS GST Landing fee.

I am currently using Pinnacle Studio 17 which I find easier to get started more quickly than most other editing programs. Like Premiere Pro CC too. Wayne
