Compulsion replied to flyerme's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
I am getting paranoid to open this site at the moment. Too much tragedy lately. Still driving home from Gawler today I was nearly taken out by a young female P plater. My condolences to the parachutist family and friends. -
Hi Phil, Off topic but hoping to get over to Loxton very soon. Was going to head over last Sunday but the weather wasn't playing ball. Any handy tips on flying into Loxton?

My j170 is one of the 3 Mick Is referring to. Now done 350 hrs on second engine. Mick still services my aircraft.

I am using a suction cup mount under the wing so it doesn't use that. I will have a look at how I can reduce vibrations.

Rubber thingies. Haven't heard that in a long time. Sorry don't know what you mean.

I have a Hero 2. I am trying several settings to get the best results. The camera is mounted under the wing. I tried Hd on Saturday but the video ended up with a shaky view like waves going through the picture. I was using the narrow setting to remove the view of the prop. Any advice on settings. I have also ordered a polarising filter.

Yak52 wheels up at Aldinga
Compulsion replied to Patrick Normoyle's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
I don't think landing down wind has anything to do with the aircraft. -
Are Jabiru engines really that bad?
Compulsion replied to MarcK's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
My j170 had first engine 1000 hrs. Second engine now 400 hours with no problems. Adelaide Soaring Club is getting 1000 hrs out of their school aircraft engines. Service and oil filter change every 25 hrs. Only my experience. -
Yak52 wheels up at Aldinga
Compulsion replied to Patrick Normoyle's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Last weekend a Jabiru j230 stacked it in on landing at Aldinga. -
Nice video but hated the awful music.

Thanks all. Good advice.

I was flying from Gawler to the Clare valley last weekend. The cloud base was at 3500 feet and scattered cloud. Flying under a cloud was turbulent and if I tried to fly lower the thermals came in. Would it be better to climb above the cloud as long as it is scattered and you can see the ground at all times? The flight was tiring fighting to maintain good control during the flight.

I have posted 3 GoPro videos on YouTube. How can I get them on here?

Flier43 that's sounds like fun. I take it the races are on the Saturday. It is around a 2.5 hr flight so stay Saturday night then fly home Sunday. It is certaily something I will consider. I am really keen to travel but I am still a little nervous about new horizons.

Thanks Linda. Can I get away without an ASIC card. I really don't want to get one at this stage.

Hoping to fly to Broken Hill now at Easter. Fly up Friday and stay for the weekend. I will only go if the weather is looking good. Still a lot of learning needed on my part yet.

It is a great feeling Eric but as someone a lot smarter than me said on here " I now have a licence to learn" I hope to get up to Broken Hill now with my wife. Good luck and I hope you finish soon. I have got an awful lot of help from reading your blog. Thanks heaps.
