  1. You'll find many pilots here that are (were) into motorbikes and racing cars etc. Just remember the journey towards a pilot licence involves a lot of study so be prepared to allocate a time and place where you can be alone and undisturbed for a few hours a week. Even if that means taking your books etc. to the library. Having said that, the study comes after a few lessons in the air where you can determine if it is in fact something you can do. As you reach various milestones (first solo, first nav, first engine failure etc.) you will be required to shout a beer for all the current forum members. Good luck in your adventures.
  2. Give Scully and Mulder a call. (X-Files)
  3. From what I understand the incidents of people flying with false passports is very high and it is common to find passengers on many flights doing just that.
  4. Call me stupid; I cannot find any 'P' charts in any of my Jabiru documentation but I have been told they are there. So, can somebody enlighten me please?
  5. Holy Moly! It sure got broken.
  6. As long as it doesn't fall off and into some inaccessible area!!!
  7. "the plane swooped and hit a large air pocket - the engine subsequently stalled" - Was that actually reported??? Hells bells, how would the clowns know that. As for air pockets not existing, then what are they that I have flown into that suddenly causes everything in the cockpit to stick to the roof for a second or so while my kidneys are smashed into my pelvis?
  8. Well, the way these UAVs are being developed I would bet a beer we'll see pilotless passenger jets within 25 years.
  9. Stupidity at its best...
  10. I used flight sim to learn the ADF and VOR. When I did the REAL training it was a breeze.
  11. Does not the aircraft have that in the manual?
  12. Also several years old. What amazes me is that people are fooled! (Do NOT get offended by that comment!). A little thought into the physics and one can determine that the plane would have dropped like a stone but knowing education system the last twenty years one my age should not be surprised.
  13. The sadder part is that the locals will use this as an excuse to get rid of Aldinga aerodrome.
  14. Hi, I am involved in similar work, but air2air. Could you PLEASE bring some cold weather as this 40°C and higher temperatures is getting me very annoyed. A set of steak knives from your area would be nice to.
  15. Bird killing windmills LOL!
  16. Was just reading on one of the news websites about Stephen Hawkins and black holes. The media stated HE came up with the concept of black holes. Sorry but they (black holes) were talked about when Hawkins was a baby. Like everything else, journalism has been dumbed down, not that one needed to be very bright to be a journalist anyway.
  17. As a few of us sat around at the club house with a beer or two I said "There goes a man who knows his cylinder head temperatures" as you roared your mighty jab into the hot afternoon air. The others nodded their heads in agreement while sipping their respective ales...
  18. What on Erath does that mean?
  19. I have read this post a few times but cannot make sense of it. Obviously I have had a mini-stroke and need to have a Bex and a lie down. Does it read 'right' to others out there? Will check in tomorrow for responses and abuse.
  20. When I learnt to fly back in the early eighties the average private pilot clocked up 500 hours in a lifetime. Recreational flying has certainly made an impact on those figures!
  21. So Bob, no disrespect intended here, would you run that oil in a Jabiru engine? That oil get's no mention in their documents and manuals as far as I can tell. If you ran that oil and the engine blew up, who's fault would it be? (So far the only info using Google is from China!)
  22. Unfortunately one cannot answer the questions as one would like, what about an engine with 500 hours and no break downs or issues?
  23. Owned a Triumph Thunderbird (59 hard tail) then a Bonnie 650 back in the seventies....
  24. I got this sent to me about five years ago by folks who thought it was real!
  25. Can you send me a copy of the data you collected and the source? I am very interested in the numbers, especially those regarding "the guys that crashed flying home from collecting their jab from the factory". Where I fly we have got 1000hrs out of the engines before getting them replaced. Those poor engines being flogged by newbies is cruel and unusual punishment yet they keep going. Anyway, I digress. Thanks in advance and safe flying...
