  1. Also several years old. What amazes me is that people are fooled! (Do NOT get offended by that comment!). A little thought into the physics and one can determine that the plane would have dropped like a stone but knowing education system the last twenty years one my age should not be surprised.
  2. The sadder part is that the locals will use this as an excuse to get rid of Aldinga aerodrome.
  3. Hi, I am involved in similar work, but air2air. Could you PLEASE bring some cold weather as this 40°C and higher temperatures is getting me very annoyed. A set of steak knives from your area would be nice to.
  4. Was just reading on one of the news websites about Stephen Hawkins and black holes. The media stated HE came up with the concept of black holes. Sorry but they (black holes) were talked about when Hawkins was a baby. Like everything else, journalism has been dumbed down, not that one needed to be very bright to be a journalist anyway.
  5. As a few of us sat around at the club house with a beer or two I said "There goes a man who knows his cylinder head temperatures" as you roared your mighty jab into the hot afternoon air. The others nodded their heads in agreement while sipping their respective ales...
  6. I have read this post a few times but cannot make sense of it. Obviously I have had a mini-stroke and need to have a Bex and a lie down. Does it read 'right' to others out there? Will check in tomorrow for responses and abuse.
  7. When I learnt to fly back in the early eighties the average private pilot clocked up 500 hours in a lifetime. Recreational flying has certainly made an impact on those figures!
  8. So Bob, no disrespect intended here, would you run that oil in a Jabiru engine? That oil get's no mention in their documents and manuals as far as I can tell. If you ran that oil and the engine blew up, who's fault would it be? (So far the only info using Google is from China!)
  9. Unfortunately one cannot answer the questions as one would like, what about an engine with 500 hours and no break downs or issues?
  10. Owned a Triumph Thunderbird (59 hard tail) then a Bonnie 650 back in the seventies....
  11. I got this sent to me about five years ago by folks who thought it was real!
  12. Can you send me a copy of the data you collected and the source? I am very interested in the numbers, especially those regarding "the guys that crashed flying home from collecting their jab from the factory". Where I fly we have got 1000hrs out of the engines before getting them replaced. Those poor engines being flogged by newbies is cruel and unusual punishment yet they keep going. Anyway, I digress. Thanks in advance and safe flying...
  13. I guess the CofG and other similar issues presented no serious challenge? Did you do the flight tests - that is handling tests under all conditions? I would need grow bowling balls before I could get into a plane, even one I built and then go out and see how it handles under all the nasty conditions one could put it in. By resources I mean any special tools, a shed, time etc.
  14. What motor did you use? The problem is that not all of us have the resources available to build our own plane.
  15. Wow - you're fast! I deleted the post lest you hunt me down, set my face on fire and then put it out with a shovel. Anyway, no, I do not work for Jab. It just seems that there must be some common factor as to why you would have two completely useless jabs, perhaps you are being punished for some nefarious activities in a previous life. I don't know. Be assured that I am out to hurt or cause trouble, just in search of knowledge...
  16. Yee haaaa (slapping the thigh). Break out the moonshine, that boy was flyin!!!!
  17. So, who has been flying in this stinking hot weather? I didn't mind flying the Tobago about in hot lumpy weather but I find the Jabiru is thrown about too much for me to enjoy the flight. The temperature in my hangar probably exceeded 50 degrees, I'll check that tomorrow.
  18. You folks with water coming in through the doors, you're not flying in the rain are you? Wooden props fitted to Jabs are NOT supposed to operate in the rain.
  19. I hear similar questions to "Why do I need an instructor" with respect to Uni studies, Ham radio Licence and many more things. Nobody wants to do the hard work - but they want their reward anyway. Sign of the times I guess. Scares me, folks out there with qualifications they never earned. I see it so often, folks who fly but have no idea of the theory and knowledge they are meant to know, folks with degrees but cannot demonstrate any real knowledge. Dumbing down is deadly and is growing rapidly.
  20. Went for a blast just after sunrise on Friday 10th. Visibility was poor due to a inversion but the sight of a hot air balloon with the sun behind it was quite nice.
  21. It's simple - don't do beat ups. You already prove you're clever by having a pilot licence, these people (that do beat ups) just prove they're fools.
  22. Normally yes, but they showed a Cessna and reported a Piper. They are as daft as a dunny brush.
