  1. Well paste my ears in jam and tie me to an ants nest, we mentioned the DC3 at McDonalds a few posts back and this turns up on the trashy news.com.au website... http://www.news.com.au/national/south-australia/mcdonalds-c-47-party-plane-at-west-lakes-being-restored-to-its-original-glory/story-fnii5yv4-1227237683501
  2. If it was Global Hawk, we probably landed it. They usually hand over the reins when the thing is in our airspace.
  3. Turn it into a McDonalds like they did with a DC3 here in Adelaide many years ago.
  4. Well, I could make a comment here but I won't. Now, was that a comment, near comment or what. As for the air show, nice to know fellow aviators are still around to tell their story.

Sound like ham radio nerds - we like our callsigns based on things like our names etc. KEV (For Kevin) was taken as was KPT (my initials). You could always go for BUM, POO, WEE etc. Good for a laugh.
  6. Well, if I were a cop and in the area, I'd go have a look because it would be something different from the usual junkies, dickheads and nutters.
  7. If he was on one-three, that runway leaves few options for a safe landing if the engine quits (as does zero-five).
  8. Two events - one plane makes emergency landing after its rudder became jammed, then another plane crashes and burns at the end of the runway. Happy nobody has been seriously hurt.
  9. If this is another pilot choosing to fly in poor conditions, it's another nail in the coffin for recreational aviation.
  10. Good grief!!! Not the sort of strip I'd be flying in and out of by choice.
  11. I watched it and was disappointed, I used to know an old guy that was there when that happened. Trouble is, as he got older I got the same story over and over, but the first time around, all his war stories were great. He didn't like the yanks though, said they were up themselves and trouble makers.
  12. What did you do it in? Did you use just the compass or did you have a directional Gyro or GPS? Always exciting regardless.
  13. I wish my Jab J170 would slow down like a Foxbat!
  14. It's a pity that the Evans Head website excludes so many people because they choose not to be members of Facebook.
  15. My Asus tablet runs Android version 4.0.3 (Icecream Sandwich) and thus can't handle Oz-Runways. I cannot upgrade the tablet either! However, I enjoy the map and compass navigation with my simple car GPS as a backup. cheers and beers....
  16. Old guys are guys that don't trust a fart, know what a valve radio is, got paid in cash and had their last drink a 6pm.
  17. Oh dear, again this forum has degenerated into mud slinging by the ignorant and nasty amongst us...
  18. Well, it's been awful here. I fly out of Gawler, SA and the only activity has been water bombers, about eight in the air continuously landing, taking on 3000 litres of water and then dumping it on the fires. Spectacular but so sad as well. Quite a crowd had gathered to watch the activities. I might manage to get into the air this weekend.
  19. I heard of one instance where three or four engine failures belonged to the same airplane owner who dicks around with his (or her!) plane like it was a go-kart or something. Then has the audacity to rubbish Jabiru engines. Long sigh....
  20. Why on Earth would CASA try to destroy aviation in this country? That makes no sense and it cannot be widely known because I didn't know that and I know everything, well according to my friends six year old. Anyway, if they did destroy aviation in this country, they would be out of a job. At least they are not (as yet) like the complete imbeciles that insist I do a one day course on using a ladder or frigging pencil sharpener. Those fools need to be beaten on the kidneys with large tree branches.
  21. It is. But they are my friends!
  22. This is the mob CASA sent to meet with Jabiru.
  23. Holy Moly - a complete re-install!!! That means you then have to go through the millions of updates etc. After tuning windows and my hard drive I cloned it. I then clone it once a week, that way, if the drive fails or things crash badly I just grab the clone and install that. No doing updates and reinstalling software. By the way, I use synctoy to backup new and changed data every day. Never lost a byte of data in years. The cloning software is Acronis - it came with my solid state drive. Works a treat. Windows backup is a bad joke.
