  1. It's only those who don't have one.......:big_grin: regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  2. Here's a golden opportunity :thumb_up: for a forward thinking body of people to exploit the fact that Canberra Airport is not a friendly (GA and RAA) place. :yuk: I mean, if you could get flight paths etc sorted, I for one, would gladly pay for the use off. :big_grin: Then again maybe thats what the developer had in mind......i_dunno bummer! :black_eye: regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  3. , , , and . regards :confused: :big_grin:
  4. Thanks guys, an old army mate of mine is retiring into Canberra and I thought it (Tralee) would be easier than Canberra Airport itself. - We will see...... regards
  5. Can anyone supply some info about this strip: S35 23.820, E149 10.105. It's not listed on the airfields link and is only 5 nm south of Canberra Airport. regards
  6. Nyphomaniac Convention A man boarded an aircraft at London 's Heathrow Airport for New York ,and taking his seat as he settled in, he noticed a very beautiful woman boarding the plane. He realised she was heading straight toward his seat and bingo - she took the seat right beside him. "Hello", he blurted out, "Business trip or vacation?" She turned, smiled enchantingly and said, "Business. I'm going to the annual nymphomaniac convention in the United States ." He swallowed hard. Here was the most gorgeous woman he had eve seen sitting next to him, and she was going to a meeting for nymphomaniacs! Struggling to maintain his composure, he calmly asked, "What's your business role at this convention?" "Lecturer," she responded."I usemy experience to debunk some of the popular myths about sexuality.." "Really", he smiled, "what myths are those?" "Well," she explained, "one popular myth is that African-American men are the most well endowed when, in fact, it's the Native American Indian who is most likely to possess that trait. Another popular myth is that French men are the best lovers, when actually it is the men of Greek descent. We have also found that the best potential lovers in all categories are the Irish." Suddenly the woman became uncomfortable and blushed. "I'm sorry," she said. "I really shouldn't be discussing this with you, I don't even know your name!" "Tonto," the man said. "Tonto Papadopoulos, but my friends call me Paddy." regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  7. ....and that would be both headsets..... regards
  8. Bummer - Tony - there's a lot of it going 'round. :ah_oh: regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  9. If you get a dose - make sure to use lots of oinkment. regards :big_grin::big_grin::big_grin:
  10. And a big thankyou to Ben, who did such a fantastic job on our airshow video. :thumb_up: Thanks mate. PS. Guess who got 2nd place in the club comps and is off to Qantas to fly the 737 sim? :big_grin: regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  11. Dunno about that ahlocks. If that really was the reason (as stated by your instructor), then why would we bother with the first line at all unless, i_dunno we say it first in case we miss it last :confused: regards :big_grin: :big_grin:
  12. Well, I've re-read the thread, and I can't help thinking that Bill nailed it in his opening post. I've also noticed of late that radio broadcasts are not always ending in "xxxx traffic" which sometimes makes the whole call a complete waste of time. The biggest problem we face is the fact that most people who make bad calls are NOT members of this forum. In other words we are preaching to the converted. BUT - my biggest problem is although I believe that "Traffic xxxx" is a better call method, I will continue to use "xxxx traffic" because it is what we are supposed to do. It would be good to change it. regards
  13. Looks like you've found the right tweetment Frank. (couldn't help myself). :big_grin: regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  14. So I'm not the only one - well done Bill, :thumb_up: I've been on the same wave length for a long time. :big_grin: Now if we cam just convert the rest........ regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  15. G'Day Michael, I hear there are 6 pot J160's on floats in Canada. :thumb_up: See if you can find one (and fly it!). regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  16. Most of us run our Jabiru's at 2900 - 3000 rpm. They run cooler and scoot along quite well. (around 100 knots) regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  17. Lets put the shoe on the other foot...... I'm arriving at the airfield (10 mile inbound call - 6 minutes from circuit) and I know (through good airmanship) :big_grin: that the into wind runway is 05 (10 knots). :thumb_up: I then hear Rex give a taxi call for 23, followed almost immediately by the dash 8. (for the same runway). :yuk: Ahh regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  18. OK - lets say that there is no wind or less than 2 - 3 knots at best. 1. The active runway is only as good as its last departure/arrival. In other words the active runway can be changed by the last user either by arriving (joining mid down wind for 23) or by departing (entering runway 05 departing for....) unless there is traffic alreaady established in the circuit. 2. For most of us (Raa + GA) arriving and hearing your call - yes, but, maybe not by the RPT jockey!! 3. You are "in the circuit" as far as being aware of your location and intentions, just the same as an inbound call. You will have to be delt with before too long. 4. If you wait and give way to the incoming aircraft then you have in a sense taken control of the situation and given the arriving aircraft right of way. If you choose to enter the runway (lets not get to tied up with who has the right) then you have taken control of the runway - you own it and the incoming aircraft must give it up to you - regardless of your poor airmanship etc etc 5. They have no more right than you or I when it comes to the airfield. They (and everyone else) have to conform to aviation laws/rules/requirements. 6. Hard to say - we have Air Ambulance landing "downwind" all the time. But in their defence - never more than 5 knots worth. 7. You may have had time to depart before the dash 8 arrived - really depends on your skills and his nerves and experience. 8. To be honest I would probably do as you did, Wait it out - after all it costs us so little in time and money. 9. Every situation is a little different. On a calm day here at Echuca the active runway can and does change as aircraft arrive from the south or the north. Doesn't seem to cause any problems. regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  19. I know where you guys are comin' from. :confused: Three and a bit years ago I picked up my new Jabiru J160c from the Bundy factory. :thumb_up: Apparantly CASA knocked back part of the heater design during certification. (bummer) :yuk: Jabiru's solution - supply without heater and we will send you one later (when CASA's happy). No wukkers I said, and flew of happily into the sunset. :big_grin: (Well, you know what I mean). About eight months later (during Spring) :yuk: my heater arrived. (Yay!). Now we get some beauitiful weather here in Echuca. GOOD flying weather - if you get my drift. So, everytime I went to the airport - instead of fitting the heater thumb_down - I'd go flying. :thumb_up: The heater kit is STILL in the hanger some 2 winters later and the third winter is nearly upon us. Sigh! i_dunno :confused: :confused: Some day I'm gonna fit that heater, :big_grin: yep, some day.......... regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  20. --- -.- :thumb_up: (here we go again) regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  21. Apparently the reason why the Jabiru line of aircraft pricing has remained the same (for the last three or so years), is improved production time. By improving the aircraft in many small ways which actually shorten the build time - thus turning out more in less time and keeping labour costs down. :thumb_up: regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  22. :thumb_up: Look on the bright side. All of us that own Jabirus (or is that Jabiri??) hopefully will see a slight rise in value. regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  23. it's just nine dits and a dah to me.....:ah_oh: regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  24. WELL - the item has ended - can only assume it sold for the "Buy Now" price of 30,000. regards
