  1. I can't get past the song title:  "Come Fly With Me" it kinda says it all, don't you think? with maybe a small sub title "Dare to live - learn to fly" or similar. regards :big_grin:
  2. Slarti I think the fuel at Deni is now only a mobile tanker and may or not be available. Echuca on the other hand will come and fuel you. If there's no one there, our phone numbers are on the fuel shed. No call out fee. Currently 1.70 per liter regards
  3. It's always the quality - not the quantity, that counts. regards :big_grin:
  4. Nev, my left hand operates the throttle while the right is hooked through the "Y" yoke and operating the hand operated brake. (J160C) Having never used toe brakes I guess I don't miss them. It's a real pain when back tracking after landing and your turn is as wide as the QE2. "or have your hand on it " I'm leaving this one alone (for now). i_dunnoi_dunno regards :big_grin:
  5. Gomer - I feel your pain. :yuk: Been there and suffered the same. I now spend the extra few dollars :black_eye: and get the spiral bound version (sigh) i_dunno regards :big_grin:
  6. Lets go outside the circle. What about dual lines from the current slave cylinder with some sort of switching device to choose which wheel gets the brake. Still hand operated but if we want it mainly for tight turns (and boy do we need it!) then it should work ok. Application should be spring loaded to provide auto return to normal braking after use. Could be embarrassing if landing with only one wheel being braked. Just my thoughts. regards
  7. How many leave early Sunday or fly in early Saturday and then leave later in the day? Seemed to be the case when I attended in 2008. This could be because of weather or family Easter commitments. regards
  8. Good on ya Andrew, welcome. Nice aircraft the J160C - I might be a little biased. regards
  9. G'day Mike, welcome to the best forum in the world. Enjoy your stay - you must have a few good stories for us, flying out of Essendon. regards
  10. I notice on Jabiru's web site that they are now selling a Jabiru 160D as an LSA aircraft. So why? After spending so much on the 160c's certification, why the LSA variant? Or am I missing something? (Same take off weight (540kg) and same specifications that I can see). i_dunno regards :big_grin:
  11. So.............. What's happening with the aircraft that drop off? Just sitting in the shed/hanger collecting dust? or what? regards
  12. At 100 hrs I replaced all 4 exhaust plugs (I clean, check and adjust all 8 plugs every 50 hrs) At 150 hours I replaced all 4 inlet plugs. So now I have a mix of older and younger plugs all working well. The idea is to have a safety margin with a younger plug in every cylinder if the older one starts to break down. Works for me regards PS Plugs are retired after 150 hrs use.
  13. Geez Qwerty your a funny . I'm myself laughing. Typical Aussie humour. Regards Big:censored:Pete.
  14. Burbles1 your training doesn't finish when you get your endorsement, rather it has just begun. Your instructor has deemed that you are now unlikely to kill yourself or have serious problems when out on your own. Take the time to hone your new gained skills, experience is gained by "time in the office" not by how many letters after your name on the door - if you get my drift. regards
  15. AND (this is a biggie) it absorbs a hell of a lot of energy if you have a prop strike. regards PS - it's also cheaper to maintain and refurbish.
  16. So where did she get the money (flame suit on) regards
  17. It's the old "Bull%^&* Baffles Brains" in operation. thumb_down Use some big words, invent a few new ones (Little Kevy Crudd is so good at it :broken_heart:) and say it like it was cast in stone - you will convince 95% of the public. :yuk: (unless they fly aeroplanes, then your down to 2% - but there just aint enough of us!!) regards :big_grin:
  18. I too, :thumb_up: am a propellor puller - what more can I say? :big_grin::big_grin::big_grin: regards i_dunno
  19. My old bus (J160c) climbs out at 2900 RPM at 70 - 75 knots. (60 x 42) regards
  20. Try contacting the Wentworth Aero Club - my guess is it belongs to one of the many sheep stations around that area. Spent my early years as a young boy working at "Quambi" when things were not to bad in the sheep industry. regards
  21. "OUCH" Large twin departing YECH when front cargo door unlatched itself. (At rotate speed) :yuk: One small overnight nylon bag (ladies knickers, powder and book) came out and hit the propellor. Pilot kept his cool, lifted off and completed one very low circuit and put it down oh so carefully. The novel did 95% of the damage - we found what was left of the bag, powder and book, but we never did find those knickers! i_dunno regards
  22. At least it looks like it's jet powered. regards
  23. I don't see why a device that will alert someone that I am in need of assistance, would not be accepted by the AMSA. After all, the Victorian government will be relying big time on private phone carriers to alert people via their mobile phones during high threat of bushfires. regards
  24. Does the "Spot" qualify as an ELB/EPIRB? see: www.findmespot.com regards
