We Have a winner ----- That's right Bob - metric on the battery connections, and me with out the matching spanner %#@^. And it looks like their could be other too. (thanks Jack) G'day Nev - one thing I didn't consider was the pitch of the spark plugs. but do I need a metric spanner to remove them???? OK Maj I give up - why (are they metric)? (Did the French or Germans have something to do with it?) regards PS - You're a funny guy Tomo - listen to Planey - he knows a thing or two.

    Metric Jabiru

OK Boys (and Girls) - 64 dollar question. As far as I know (and I could be wrong) there are only two metric nuts/bolts on a Jabiru aircraft. Where are they? regards

  7. G'day Steve, Where do you propose to launch your 'plane? Is there a strip near you or will you trailer to Echuca? regards

  13. I also acknowledge Slarti's contribution to fire up the Jabiru. (OK - that's two of us) regards :big_grin:
  14. About three years ago we had quite a nasty accident here at Echuca. A visiting Jabiru (SP 6 cylinder - I think) decided to go around just before touchdown - full power applied, and then removed full flap - poor little bus fell like a stone and broke up rather spectacularly. :yuk: Occupants suffered some back trauma and cuts and bruising. :black_eye: These days with electric flaps (which are a lot slower than the old manual type) you get enough warning not to contine with it. :ah_oh: Qwerty - you did well, another lesson learned and experience gained. regards
  15. My prop on the Jabiru is starting to show a little wear (442 hours in use). i_dunno One side just looks a little worn (varnish? wise) (see pic 1) so I guess its a light sand and recoat, but the otherside (see pic 2) looks as if the finish is bubbling, creating a cavity underneath the varnish. Must be plenty of knowledge out there - I await with keen interest. regards :big_grin:
  16. Can someone PM me and tell me what happened at Narromine? - Please. regards
  17. Thats great Watto, how many hours? regards
  18. Anyone out there in Jabiru land regularly using MOGAS instead of AVGAS? Does your motor run cleaner? Have you had any issues (like vapor lock etc)? regards

  23. Well said octave - being on the wrong frequency is just another example of poor airmanship. regards
