  1. Thanx David - works great. regards
  2. Hihosland - is there any chance you could link your list to take us straight to the article? One click and you're there, so to speak. Just a suggestion. regards PS - Some really good reading here.
  3. Don't forget, we also use the hand pull through (first start of the day) to check for unusual mechanical noises and compression on each cylinder. regards :big_grin:
  4. This wing thing is doin' me in. J120 has a wing 100mm (according to Jabiru website) shorter than a J160 and is max weight at 500kg (LSA) versus 540kg (RA-Aus) Was this deliberate (by Jabiru)? I mean, why didn't they put the 160 wing on it and call it 540kg Brentc - your J400 has a 700kg limit under GA - Isn't your wingspan close to a J160 (maybe 100mm wider? (Not listed on Jabiru's website anymore), and your stall speed at max weight is The J170 kit is under RA-Aus at 544kg, while the factory built J170 (LSA) is 600kg. When the new limit comes in can the kit built J170's be at a higher weight, say 650-670kg It seems the poor old J160 will be stuck at 540kg because of the 45 knot req. What is the GA registered J160 max weight limit and what is the stall speed at that weight regards :big_grin:
  5. Hey Steve - that's another thing. Floats work well on a high wing, can't remember the last time I saw them on a modern low wing aircraft. regards :big_grin:
  6. Well if you can't (considering your location) what hope have the rest of us got (just land behind the boat - no one will see) regards :big_grin:
  7. Simonflyer, it was all good clean fun. Now......I have an idea for a new thread. :ah_oh: Why is it that Savannah pilots can't land (smoothly) on sealed runways?:big_grin: regards :big_grin:
  8. G'Day Tomo, Most of us had a black strip (electricians tape) put on the cowl to keep it straight. regards

  12. I've read somewhere about a Mitsubishi (Australia) technition fitting a modified Magna Electronic Fuel Injection to his Jabiru  . I think it was very successful. Other forum members may have more info.....i_dunno (I think it was in an RAA magazine ) regards :big_grin:

  19. Fair suck of the sav you guys :ah_oh: - sheeeshhh. :black_eye: To own one is to love one. I've had my J160c now since February 2006. So far I've put 433 hours on her and over 900 landings. (yes, definately female, lots of maintenance required). i_dunno First burnt out valve at 93 hours :yuk: - fixed by Jabiru agent and back in the air in less than 3 days. I know the parts was ordered on a Sunday from Jabiru. Changed jets sizes as directed (by Jabiru) at 241 hours - burnt valve again at 275 hours (the change of jet size was too late to save this one) :yuk: - fixed by Jabiru agent - at no cost to me. (well and truly out of warranty). Since then - no wuckers. Runs like a charm. (allthough I did have a little problem with the flap motor). I have seen many small and positive improvements on later Jabirus after mine. Better air vents, better door hinges, better finish and paint work and ongoing engine improvements. Its a work in progress. And yes, I did meet Rod Stiff when I picked up my Jabiru. :) We actually ran into each other in the Bundy terminal (I recognized him, he wouldn't know me from a bar of soap) i_dunno - I was arriving, he was leaving - I introduced myself and got a very luke warm reception - so I don't know - he may have been pre-occupied with something, quite strange. Now don't get me wrong - he wasn't rude, just - well, indifferent. regards :big_grin:
  20. Brentc - most of us like to read what you've written:thumb_up: - and just to prove it  you need a space between Atleast. (At least). regards :big_grin:

  24. Tocumwal is only 30 minutes from Echuca. My father served his war years there as a mechanic in the RAAF working in the bearing shop. The engines in a Liberator had a "combat life" of 100 hrs. :ah_oh: You can still see all four runways very clearly from around 3500ft. Only two are still used. The biggest shame is ask any local secondary school student within a 100 miles of Tocumwal about the history of the place and they don't know. There were hundreds of aircraft scrapped there after WWII finished, melted down for the new motorcar industry. (Holden 48-215) Your dad may have been driving a processed Spitfire! regards :big_grin:
  25. Ok Bec that makes two of us, now who else is joining the group regards :big_grin:
