  2. I have to ask: What has taken awhile? What do you mean "part of the people"?? And last but not least, Spitfire Free??? BTW Welcome to the forum. Mark D
  3. Howdy Magoo, Met you eighteen months ago at LV. You were working on your engine. You had just replaced your cylinders. Barney introduced us and it was not until half way back to Kyabram that I remembered watching you road race at Calder around 1980. (some guy centre punched you and put you out) Served my apprenticeship with Kevin Isles at GAF. Good to see you here and hope to catch you again round the traps. Mark D
  4. Cutting and running is on a par with blaming and complaining. At least we weren't all sued. Mark D
  5. And lurn too spel good. (or uze a chekka)
  6. A product is only as good as it's quality control. If the person using the wrong bolts new that it would be picked up by an inspector it's my guess he or she would not have fitted them. Who test flies the finished factory built aircraft? Lots of questions here. Mark D
  7. Howdy Marty, I have flown to Porepunkah and Mt Beauty (a great flight from Tonny!) but not Bright. Didn't know there was a strip/school there. If you drop in to Peter and Anne McLean at Yarra they are full bottles on trikes. (mate just bought a beauty through them and very affordable) Keep us informed of your progress. Regards, Mark D
  8. How would you do that in a dry sump?
  9. Just read your story in the latest magazine Tomo. Well done! You can add 'young writer' to your resume now. Good for you. Mark
  10. Ethanol test on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsSQSuCiUjE"
  11. What he said. Mark D PS Don't mean to piddle on your bonfire but these instructors and aircraft owners aren't driving new BMW's. If you take all into account hiring isn't much different to owning. Let the poor buggers make something.

  13. How did the trip to Tassie go Check in? I hope the weather was kind on your motorcycle ride and you didn't become a wet check. Seriously, would love to hear of your trip. Mark D
  14. Hoping for information from those with experience/information in this area. Geoff has asked the question as to where RAA aircraft can land near Alice Springs but would like to hear from those who have flown from Victoria to the Centre about their experiences with fuel, (especially unleaded), airstrips, accommodation, weather at that time of year etc. I have a work do there in Early October and if the stars line up I am thinking of flying the Savvy. Any information is welcome. Thanks, Mark D
  15. Geoff, How is the planning coming along? I have a work do at Alice Springs early October and am toying with the idea of flying the Savvy. Will start a thread re that as am looking for advice from those that have. Hope your trip is looking good. Regards, Mark D
  16. Be wary of protesting too much - gives them way too much credibility. Best way to treat an idiot is to ignore said idiot.
  17. Baph, I am NOT using Evans but AM using Castrol motorcycle coolant. I figure it is good enough for million RPM sports bikes so happy to use it in my low compression robust little Rotax. Also I NEVER mix brands so I ALWAYS use Castrol - easy to remember. Mark D
  18. Watch out for the young enthusiast Rachel!
  19. I'm sure things will improve, given enough time. (Just added the things you forgot Howie:laugh:
  20. OK Flightygirl, I will say this. I love the fact that that the Jabby is an Australian success story. NOTHING is made here any more so we should support our own. But......... the 912 rarely puts anyone into a hospital, the Savvy lands 20 knots slower (do the maths on landing in scary country and the all metal airframe is a joy. Your choice but until Mr S listens to a few old SAE engineers about robustness I will not be flying over the Great Divide in anything but a 912. Happy to talk the matter over in more detail. Regards, Mark D
  21. Howdy Gundy, I also learned in a Jabby and built a Savvy VG. You are one Savannah up on me though. What did you do with the first Savannah? Mark D
