  4. I have to disagree with David a little here, for arguments sake, (I could be wrong) RE PI: it depends on the policy if you are covered now for past events. New policies will often have an effective start date (claims for incidents which occurred before that are simply not covered or specifically excluded). If you notified the insurer 'then' of a possible claim or incident that did not eventuate into a claim until some later time ... by then insured by another .... the original insurance company is still liable for that claim (long tail claim). Lets not forget statutory time limits as well.
  5. The clear silastic is marketed as a formed in place automotive gasket, good to 230c the red is 340c.

  8. Sweet, I had hoped to motivate more aviation. We had a nice Auster come out and see us off actually... this one.. hangered near Oakey but how will you ever taste the bugs out west in something so civilised and .... well ...... not open cockpit Can you take the windscreen out
  9. Thanks David, Yes we have a support truck, it leaves before us though and we are self sufficient on the way out and back because inevitably... we beat the truck. Occasionally we cross paths and en route if we choose to laze about during stops but the truck is really there for transport of fuel, food bedding etc for the camp site. As for organising it takes ALOT. Two to three months out preparation begins. Their are some very dedicated and enthusiastic aviators and organisers amongst the core group who are behind it. There is also some very selfless and outright generous involvement by a few... the support truck for example is provided free of charge with the fridge, generators, kitchen sink, SHOWER, tents, chairs, cooking facilities, utensils, BBQ etc... just need to all chip in for its fuel, groceries and water. BYO sleeping arrangements. The second trailer is used to take one participants trike out and camp in as he uses his motor vehicle while out there as well for hunting and fishing etc. It is an absolute privilege to be part of I can tell you 36hrs flying and avg fuel burn of 16lt per hour. Money well spent!
  10. Some video... (Yes LF endo's, permission and valid operational reasons for low flying all existed on the private property... BUT NONE of this required that, all low flying in here is just take off or landings (one baulked due to cross/tail winds at 3.15, hence x-strip landing just after). I have to say how proud and impressed I am with the level of safety and exemplary aviation conduct and consideration made by all who were involved in the trip. Everyone planned very well and flew with the utmost professionalism which made for a very safe and therefore relaxed and enjoyable trip, which is what it should be all about.   11. Thanks all! Yes it great fun. Yes the iPad is used for moving map and planning with Oz Runways and I also use Co-Pilot on my phone... I print out flight plans from that and then also and use my own written sheet as well for hard copy back up. The track we took out is right on the edge of the WAC's which is a little bit nuisance having to carry two maps for nth and sth of the track line, meh, has to be done. Short video uploading as I type

  14. Hi All, I went for a fly out west again last week... Boonah > Tara > St George > Bollon > Cunnamulla > Eulo > Dynevor Downs > Molesworth (Bulloo Downs) then local flying around the property for a few days and also up to Noccundra Hotel. Here are some photo's from the journey... which in total was about 1000nm with about 35-38hrs flying (yet to do totals). About a million litres of fuel and 2% of a million in Oil. A hanger full in Tara before departure St George Bollon Eulo Dynevor Downs Camp (not REALLY roughing it) Homestead An abandoned outstation on the property when we did a bore run. My camp site for the week Cover I made for my plane. Had an incident at Noccundra Hotel where a rock kicked up hard off the wheel just on lift off and ruptured the belly tank... I noticed the the spray looking back clearing my left hand turn in the circuit and made an uneventful landing only to see litres of fuel wasted before I could isolate the top tank. (incident report will be submitted). No other significant events... all ships ran really well. Amazing little creatures these Rotax engines, 2 banging (well one 4 banger) away for hours and hours on end... Will post a video at some stage.

  17. Kind of like a game of cluedo or something. As the Joker says... riddle me this... OK I'll play. We have two (maybe more) board members who have resigned. Don Ramsey (treasurer) and Bill Cain. We have two names that keep popping up here in the negative sense. The CEO Steve Tizzard and the President Steve Runcimen. Someone stuffed up aircraft registration (certification?) and got in big trouble with CASA (This has yet to be resolved by the looks?) Now there are also insurance issues? The RAA was/is not insured? Or the board was/is not insured? A veil of secrecy pervades it all.... or 'trouble' if anyone speaks out: Individual board members obviously feel threatened. Beyond all the discussion on RAA governance generally, these are the pertinent points I can discern from this thread relating to the current turmoil. An educated guess then: The CEO and/or the President in combination and/or with others on the board are failing to take advice (or accept responsibility) from other board members regarding the registration/certification and insurance issues and the 'recalcitrant' board members feel threatened somehow (one assumes legal action) if they speak out: secrecy agreements? It would appear the RAA and/or the board were/are not insured for the issues that have arisen so any cost of legal action may have to be born by individuals - ergo: board members would rather resign than be held liable for what is going on or eventuates, especially if they have no control or input. No doubt any response will be "Maybe."
  18. I don't think ASIC has any jurisdiction for Incorporated Associations. That is what the RAA is isn't it? In ACT? ACT Dept of Fair Trade? As usual we can only assume these resignations have occurred as a result of clashes of ideologies and/or personalities, that is the way it usually transpires in associations like this. Since I have been an RAA member the board of management (as a whole, not individually, as I don't know really know anything about the individuals) has appeared quite dysfunctional. There is nothing new under the sun and, obviosuly, people are locking horns in management. To carry the analogy further, there have to be Alpha males at the centre of it. Who are they and if they shouldn't be there how can they be removed. One of the first issues of debate on hand when I ventured into this organisation was some new clause or requirement about in camera meetings and board secrecy agreements. Did that ever eventuate? If it did; it is easy to see why this particularity unenlightening thread exists AND why the secrecy requirements should be abandoned. I don't even think it would be lawful. If it did not get through then why is everyone keeping so silent? Speak up and tell the membership what is going on so they can help or participate in a resolution. If the latter is the case what is the big stick being waived around to keep everything hush hush? and who is wielding it? It appears extortionate to me. I lost a whole lot of what I considered pretty relevant, well considered and pertinent information relating to governance of Incorporated Associations in the wash out of the forum on these types of topics towards the end of last year. Above, a number of posters are drawing analogies with Corporate law and governance, there are similarities to be drawn in the expectations of board members to act in good faith and with due care and diligence ('business judgement rule') but there are worthwhile differences to be drawn as well, foremost: Our board is voted in! It is the board that runs the organisation and they appoint the CEO who must act under the boards direction. The board members can not be held liable for speaking out about issues they believe are required to be spoken about if it is in good faith for the Association. What concerns and frustrates me the most, being none the wiser for what is going on, is the stonewalling. The board in its entirety has a duty to act in good faith with due care and diligence and that means transparency ... what are the issues? What are the threats being made to keep the membership ignorant? Nothing new under the sun.... Corporate psychopath and the cronies are causing havoc?... lunatics running the asylum?.... tail wagging dog? who knows? Not me! That's the answer though isn't it; if you don't know you can't act.
