  1. Bloody marvellous, have played my copy now about ten times, even the 6yo grandson likes it, thanks Ian. Bob.
  2. Hi, Terry, I can confirm my last two Gray head 582's (older style/model)both came without a thermostat. Bob.
  3. Hi David, Ultralam has Kevlar or Kevlar like threads in it, depending on the weave(and quality) it can be one row wide or a numberin the weive or warf of the material(down or across), fairly often it comes as six or eight rows with ten rows gap to the next set, has superior rip stop and shape holding. Been used in sailing for ages. Bob.
  4. Hi, yesterday Penrith(NSW) had between 0930-1800hrs, 64mm of rain. Even the ducks have gumboots on! Bob.
  5. Hi allegro2000, Pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable here. Bob.

  7. Hi Andrew, Normally no don't need brakes, on the flight they asked me when I landed to taxi to the hanger but forgot to warn me of the dip in the grass section, in frone of the hanger the aircraft ended in the hanger and i had worn out the shoes i was wearing, they said it was so funny to watch. I am sure there was smoke coming off my shoes too, ha, ha. Bob.
  8. Hi All, Try this site it will give you a whole heap of information. The A-plane I flew in the USA three years ago had the 1/2 VW motor too. NO brakes, but that is another story????? costed here in Australia without motor is about $4700. Fuselage
  9. Hi Shags_j, must agree with facehunter here, one of my work mates with no construction knowlage wanted to build a wood and fabric aircraft. Before he started he went to TAFE and built a small wooden boat there, gave him so many of the skills needed, he then offered a local LAME a slab of beer to let him help with the LAME's next fabric repair, again learnt so much from that, his aircraft ended up looking so good. Bob.
  10. Hi jonp, Welcome to the site, hope you enjoy your time here. the Affordaplane is a pleasent aircraft, I had the pleasure of flying one three years ago while in the USA. Bob.
  11. Hi Ian, Please reserve one copy for me. Bob.
  12. Hi, I transported both my VP-2 from Melbourne to Sydney on a hired car transporter trailer without much problem. Had fuselage facing forward, gust locks fitted to elevator and tail, made from scrap plywood and foam lined, 8 ratchet straps(rated at 300kgs each)for just the fuelage and 3 for each wing(rope the ends to stop sliding too). The wings(leading edge down) use heaps of thick blocks of cheap foam on leading edge and between both wings and where you use tie downs use 2 wide layers of thick cardboard(boxes from a new fridges) under each strap. I used big blocks of white styrene foam for sliding protection for the wings also found at the back of a big electrical store. On each exposed edge had a foam strip and then covered the lot with a tarp. Checked every 100kms or so as straps came loose often. Hope this helps. Bob.
  13. Hi bluey, Yes you will need prior authority to land at Richmond and Nowra, a lot tighter to get in than it once was. There are people on this site that work at either of these depots that could help you with the spacifics but if no replies here, phone Nowra or/and Richmond. Bob.

The other thing it could be is if the cable runs through a pulley and that pulley is frozen then the cable wears a flat spot and the cable gets loose. don't know the system so only guessing. Looks like you may have to physicly check the whole ailron system, yuk!:yuk: Bob.

sounds more like cable tension issue. Bob.
  17. Hi, No not all are FS9 and anyway most FS9's will run in 2D on FSX. flightsim web site has search for FSX aircraft the Jab comes up in that and i have been flying it for about 18 months and it's ok. Bob.
  18. Adrian, You said the rivets are scattered?? The usual practise is in lines or zig-zag. The zig-zag system needs to be reasonably neat as it is usually used on a stressed panel/panel under stress while flying. If the rivets are not reasonably precise then the stress is not evenly dispersed. There is plenty of documents on the web that will give you all the measurements for riveting. You may have to re drill for new rivets. Can you upload a picture of these "scattered" rivets then us oldies and maybe not so old who have done lots of this stuff will be able to help you, you know "one picture worth a 1000 words". Bob.
  19. Hi, some information for you, hope it helps. Bob. Guide for selecting the correct Cherry Rivet for any job. A simple step by step method. Example: The job to be riveted has two pieces of material with a total thickness of 5/16" (8mm). Method: Step 1. Decide which head style and rivet type is best, For example, Truss Head Plugged Type. Chart 1. Step 2. Select the most suitable rivet for the job. (Assume aluminium). Chart 2. Step 3. Select the type of material for the rivet stem. (Presume for this job steel Would be best). Chart 3. Step 4. Choose the most suitable rivet size for the job considering the strength Required. For example 3/16" (4.8mm). Chart 4 Step 5. Measure the total thickness of the material to be riveted. In this example it is 5/16" (7.9mm). Chart 5. Using these steps we found that: 1 - Type: Truss Head Plugged Rivet Code = 73 2 - Rivet Material. Aluminium Code = A3 3 - Stem Material. Steel Code = S 4 - Rivet Diameter: 3/16" (4.8mm) Code = 6 5 - Material Thickness: 5/16" (8mm) Code = 5 The correct Cherry Rivet for this job would be 73-A-S-6-5 Important: Drills selected must be sharpened correctly and for optimum performance care must be taken in drilling the hole within the limits set out on the specification sheet. An oversize hole can cause problems in setting the rivet, especially in soft materials. Refer chart 4 for correct drill size
  20. Hi, One of the free download sites, i think in the US has a free download for a J160, to get the panel to look correct use 2D not 3D. I think the site is www.flightsim.com but not sure? Bob.
  21. Well done Adrian, Just take your time and enjoy the whole thing, and remember only 30,000 rivets to put back, ha,ha. Have you had a chance to look internally in both wings yet? Bob.
  22. Hi Adrian, Looks like you have yourself a good restore job, hum just like doing up an old car. Bob.
  23. Hi bernardc, My wife had the same problem, it is the transition coating that is the issue. She had to get new lenses made and have sunglass inserts over the top of the new glasses. Bob.
  24. Sorry, can not help you, have not got that close to the P92's, one of the originals should have its numbers on it so you can find the right size from that. Bob.
  25. Try www.aircraftboltsupplies.com.au Bob.
