  1. Yep got me! lol You can be Dazza's fill in while he's cruising! ( I can't blame spell check...I just can't spell )
  2. I thought it was only me not being able to understand. Whatever happened to CAPITOLS and punctuation,,,,....;'''';;;;;;;. Where's Dazza ?
  3. I agree being clearly heard is the object. Being a low hours pilot I think its easier for all pilots to follow the same procedures, causing less confusion. I also have no objection to more radio calls than less (as long as they do not clog up the frequency) as it helps me keep a mental picture of where all aircraft are in the circuit and on the ground. I have 20/20 sight and last Saturday doing my BFR with a CFI we entered the circuit mid field with a twin engine air ambulance and a Jabiru in and about to join the circuit and neither myself or the CFI could get a visual on either of the aircraft. Radio calls were the only way to establish a picture of the aircrafts position. On turning final we realized the twin ambulance was catching us fast so out of courtesy I did a go around to let him land as we were doing a touch and go.
  4. We also have the ability to kill someone or cause an accident. God help us if all aviators decide to go by there own safety rules and to hell with the real ones.
  5. I may have been a bit harsh ! New I shouldn't have had that extra glass of Shiraz
  6. Come on you guys!!!! We view this site for free....we all know nothings for free in this world. If Ian needs to place adds or what ever to supply this great site free of any financial cost to you, you should be appreciative ! Harden the FuGk up!!!!!!!
  7. I'm sure you will enjoy learning to be a pilot. I was 55 when I started flight training and treasured every moment . I have completed all my RAA endorsements (nav, passenger etc ) the next step is my RPL . Training is great fun, relax and enjoy the experience ...........the next thing you will be flying your first solo. Welcome.....there's lots to learn from this site!
  8. Being the father of 2 wonderful kids I hate fathers day with a passion....commercialism has made an opportunity to make money out of guilt ! Think of the many without fathers , of my best friend who took his own life and left behind 3 beautiful kids and a wife. This is such a waste of time and money. Next Fathers Day ask your Kids to donate to a worthy charity... if your like me you already have too many socks . Happy Fathers Day
  9. Thanks all, we have two 15 year olds at our club that are fully qualified PIC.......so no motor vehicle licences. Was not sure if disqualification was different to not having one at all, cheers Butch
  10. If you lost your motor vehicle licence... speeding , drunk driving....can you still fly as normal for RAA or do you have to notify RAA as you no longer fit the criteria of holding a current drivers licence? In GA if you can't pass a medical you are out......is it the same in RAA with no car licence? (and NO! I haven't lost my licence) cheers
  11. Great joke skeptic, I'm of Irish decent and love Irish humour.... I wonder what reaction you would get if you replaced "Irishman" with Moslem , Aboriginal,Negro,Female or any other politicly incorrect statement. It's a shame we still can't take the p1ss like the old days and laugh it off as a bit of witty humour! The Irish may be dumb but at least we aren't preciouses! Keep um coming.....we all like a laugh.
  12. Crow Problem... Nobody made you keep reading.

  13. In the early eighties I went and had my first ultralight flight with a guy called Werner Becker ( I think it was a dual Thruster) near Rushworth not far from Nagambie. I met Sander a couple of times as he was a friend of Werners. I was all set to start flight training with Werner when Sander had his accident. I bailed out when someone as talented as he was came to grief, wish I hadn't, would have had years of flying behind me! As in most accidents it's distraction, not enough time, pressure to get it done and limited finance's to be able to say no.
  14. I'm flying our club Tecnam P92 super echo , wish I had a spare 100,000 to buy any low hour Tecnam. Great reliable easy to fly aircraft. It's one thing the Italians have got right. cheer's and good luck with your new venture.
  15. Good stuff ....wish I was your sister in law!
  16. I know where you are coming from Bats! We aren't all Vultures on this site .....but we all fly some sort of machine .... it really hits home when a tragedy happens! I have a wife and kids and when something like this happens I get doubts about flying and I'm keen to know what's gone wrong. Forum members may speculate , repeat rumors or get it all wrong.... but at least its out there for us to make our own decision. I think our own insecurities make us seek answers or offer logical reasons.....right or wrong. Hopefully we will all learn something from this shocking accident so it doesn't happen again. Condolences to all the families and friends.
  17. Aviation Advertiser is slow to load, clunky, freezes up, doesn't return to original place after viewing an aircraft for sale and won't load anything but page one. And that's on a PC with ADSL 2...........I can't name another website that's as bad. I'm not trying to bag them but it's frustrating trying to browse the site...which is a shame. I just wish they would get up to speed.
  18. A great new flying documentary on SBS tonight.......Flying to the Ends of the Earth. Just finished watching episode 1 about Marine Arthur Williams who is a paraplegic flying around the Himalayas in Nepal into some really tight airstrips. The scenery is unbelievable and the flying is on the edge ! He even goes for a fly in a Foxbat through the mountains......big mountains. If you missed it take a look it should be on SBS on demand, I'm sure you will enjoy it. Next weeks episode is in Australia , the shorts showed cattle mustering in the outback and some interesting chopper work. cheer's Butch
  19. You have been lucky in the South East Bob, rain dropping down South from NSW. It can't make it as far as us in the central areas always seems to stay south of the ranges or follows the Murray River down to your area, cheers Butch
  20. Where are you biggles, I'm in Central Victoria and it has been the driest Spring and early Summer since the 82-83 drought! Have had a bit of rain in the last 2 weeks , but we are still hand feeding all of our stock...still a long way to go till we are out of gaol. It was nice when we were up in Darwin last week lots of green grass!
  21. We would have fun trying Red " blind leading the blind" and we might have to fly in our undies keep the weight down lol
  22. Only had my licence RAA for 2 years Red, love to take you up...give you the stick and you could teach me a few things. all the best mate.
  23. Hope all is going well for you Red 750, being PIC is a great achievement in your life...... you are one of the few that have had the privilege. good health in the future, Butch
  24. Take every day as it comes.....my older brother (60) has just been told he has Motor Neuron Disease. He wouldn't fly with me, thought it was too dangerous. Enjoy life ....chase your dream and don't say one day........one day it may be to late ! I'd rather die trying than wishing I had tried !
  25. I agree Turbo, Having met some of their wives and small children after the 92 accident it was heart breaking the tragedy left behind from a few bad decisions. As Dutch quoted " go to the pub and have a countery " and live to fly another day.
