  1. Watch out for the yellow grass hoppers (foxbats) they have invaded us. Don't worry you will learn an Asian language as well as learning to fly! Great to see you're enjoying flying . Same air different instructor....it's all good in Bendigo.
  2. ] Sounds like your TIF was at YBDG, Bendigo Flying Club ! I did my training there, great instructors, 4 Tecnams for training and private hire, reasonable rates and all the cub members are very welcoming. Go for it mate, you won't regret it. The club runs as non profit. I know all the instructors personally and it wouldn't be the case! Good luck......Enjoy
  3. I agree Marty but I had a boy about 4 jumping up and down in the seat behind me on the way to Thailand this year. When he tired of that he decided to kick the back of my seat and flip the service tray up and down. The worst thing was that his mother or carer made no attempt to refrain him from doing what he was doing. One the other hand our old neighbour came to visit her mother on a flight from Perth to Melbourne over the holidays with her 2 small children 1 & 4. When she was having problems setter ling down the kids the lady next to her said she was a mother and would gladly take the 1 year old for a walk around the plane, she came back with the little girl fast asleep. I think most people will understand as long as you attempt to settle kids down, it's the ones that don't consider their kids actions that annoy s#it out of other passengers.
  4. "The move comes after United Airlines announced that they would be charging a fee for people who want to stow away large items in the bins over their heads. Along with charging for the overhead bins, it's been claimed United will also not assign any seats until the day of the flight, which means passengers travelling together may be separated." United Airlines ! Enough said !
  5. Eye witness claims the aircraft did a tight turn , dropped a wing and hit the water. Maybe a stall ?
  6. I would say you were un- Australian if you didn't jump in and help to the best of your ability without putting anybody in danger! And as for filming when you should be helping !
  7. Yep sure! I only hope the local council don't click on to it...before we know it we will all have to pay landing fees !
  8. Sorry for my whinging! Not all of us are, super can handle everything while doing the crossword type pilots with 20 aircraft flying around them in circles Bendigo is usually very quiet with only a few in the circuit, when a school comes in with five planes doing intensive training combined with four of our own BFC training planes it can get fairly busy. I feel for the trainee pilots trying to do their first solo ! I think that's why SOAR aviation comes to Bendigo from Melbourne, they try and give their students a bit of space but it becomes a bit annoying for the locals.
  9. Think it was one of Soar Aviation's aircraft from Moorabbin. I was flying in Bendigo on Saturday and they had five Fox bats doing training in the circuit . Seems like most students are low hours doing touch and goes. Makes the circuit busy (and interesting) with up to seven in the circuit at one time and some students with very poor English skills.
  10. Thanks Kiwi, I'll take a look, cheers Butch
  11. Hi all, Does anyone fly or own a Rans S6 Coyote? I'm looking around to buy my first aircraft and they seem to be reasonably priced, get good reviews on the internet and are easy to fly for a lower hours pilot. Most are kit built -19 rego, any concerns about someone else's build? I know nothing about fabric covered aircraft, are there any draw backs compared to metal? thanks in advance, cheers and Merry Xmas to all !
  12. Ok you guys no HOT DOG jokes !
  13. Thanks you all for the feed back . I'm on a budget to buy, but safety is paramount, cheers Butch
  14. If I were to buy a second hand home built kit aircraft how safe would it be ? Looking at aircraft for sale most amateur built aircraft are mainly cheaper than factory built. My question is do you spend more for a factory built aircraft or take the risk buying a home built ? I'd like to hear your advice and the reasons why, thanks in advance, cheers Butch.
  15. Steady ! I'm a farmer, and I am OCD about safety. Lets just say his personality was the reason he made some bad decisions.
  16. Bex......More info please.
  17. But it does show that with a bit of guts and determination you can go from a fish and chip shop owner to a parliamentarian flying around Australia in a RAA aircraft. And as for the booze, there's nothing better than a beer with your friends after a great day flying. PS I'm not one of her voters.
  18. Agree Stillhere. So much for the "OFF TOPIC" forum ! Can't help themselves ..........
  19. Take one look at the quality control and that's easy to believe !

  24. Thanks Ian, I wake up every morning get a coffee and go to my computer and log into your site. You need to be congratulated for the service you provide. There's always a bit of banter between members , different views all adds to the mix. I have learnt so much about aviation in general from your site, for a low hours pilot like me it's priceless. Thanks again, keep up the good work, Cheers Butch
  25. Welcome Denis, I fly out of Bendigo , I am a member of the club and did my training there. Go out and say G-day, everyone will make you welcome.
