There's over $100 subscription for these two publications! I've been trying to encourage people to donate for ages to help this site survive! Ian donates all his time and effort and shouldn't be expected to be out of pocket to keep it afloat. Don't look at it as a donation, think of it as a subscription. Ian you have done a great job all the time I have visited this site . Don't be afraid to except help from all of us forum users "we are all in this together" I'll start by donating $50.00 if you put the donation button back up and I'm sure there are many more out there that will help. Remember the old saying "you don't know what you have got till it's gone!" . -

Not always so ! I was first on the scene at a five fatality single engine aircraft crash due to pilot disorientation. Plenty of fuel onboard, when I got there in under a minute all I could smell was avgas. (I was waiting for it to go bang like in the movies) If you hit hard enough I think it extinguishes itself. Maybe if your on final and slow it might be a different outcome. -
Not really, I mainly fly from country airfields that don't have disposal points close to aircraft parking areas. If they are there I always use them where possible. Sorry mate, I was just making a point about seeing whether fuel would evaporate. I was a bit peeved about being ticked off. It was only a sarcastic remark, I'm sure you weren't Trolling.

I think Turbo might have been taking the Piss

Ok 'we have buckets filled with gravel to tip our sample into! Personally I don't give a -uck ! I'd rather know I was safe to fly. I knew some BRAIN would troll me? I'll just ad it to the Corona Virus , climate change and every other anal thing out there that can make me depressed. I give up
-
I always smell fuel, throw it on the ground and watch for signs of evaporation. If you get a full test of water it is easy to think it's clear pure fuel. It has happened to me once, drained up to 500 mls of water off before fuel came out. Aircraft hirer before me had left aircraft out in a rain storm and it sucked in water through the filler cap seals.

Maybe they were New Zeeeelanders ????
