  1. Fair go you lot ! I'm a farmer who drives a 4 wheel drive...…. most of my mates think I drive to fast on dirt roads! Started driving at 6 droving sheep back to their paddock, its all second nature. Flying's a different story....didn't start till I was older so very cautious, take no risks and am probably very timid in my attitude.
  2. Welcome Shawn, Were all lurkers here...….some lurk better than others lol.
  3. In reply 88 you said you just found the App and asked if anyone had used it. Now you are telling us how good it is and you have had it for two years. Wasted my time making a coment !
  4. He also makes money out of selling the app! If it sounds to good to be true , it usually is! Buy it, get back and tell us if you think it works.
  5. I got it a few years ago. Didn't think much of it. If you have a good instructor take his advice......and practice makes perfect! I think I need more practice! ?
  6. That's true but not every home kit builder is component at being a structural engineer, auto electrician, mechanic, plumber and quality controller at the one time. Being a farmer I do all of these things , but I realize I'm a master of none . I've had plenty of F... ups, all on the ground none at 2,000 ft....lol.
  7. The factory workers maybe low paid workers but the quality control are the ones that I worry about. No aircraft manufacturer will take the risk of selling an unairworthy aircraft, it would wreck the reputation of their aircraft.
  8. If you are comfortable with that it's ok. After following Kyle with his Savannah rebuild where he has almost rebuilt the whole aircraft ( praise to him ) because it was so badly built, it has made me aware that not all builders know what they are doing or care when they sell! ( or crash )
  9. I would find it nearly impossible to buy used kit plane assembled by someone else. One wrong bolt, missing rivet or lock wire missing could take your life. Wish I had the patience to build my own!
  10. It's all smiles till you F.ck up and do damage to a third party. I've worked hard all my life to get what I have and insurance although expensive gives me the piece of mind that I'm not going to end up in court and lose it all! Insurance has always treated me well.....I might have paid more in premiums than claims but it is better than the alternative.
  11. If in doubt ……..pay with PayPal ! You have a guarantee that you will get your money back if the goods aren't delivered or are not what they are advertised. Most shifty sites don't have PayPal...…..there's your answer!
  12. I used to do a bit of scuba diving Nev and that teaches you to always equalize your ear pressures. It's very easy to burst an ear drum or get sinus squeeze both very painful! That's why you would never dive if you have a cold or blocked nose. I still get sinus squeeze on decent on a long haul commercial flight....a couple of Sudafed halfway through the flight helps.
  13. Hi Waraton, I think I got them on E bay. Don't remember how much they were......worth a try as brand name ones ( Bose etc ) are over $1,000, cheers Butch.
  14. I brought a cheap set of passive UFQ (U fly quietly) weighs 130 grams off the internet. I have a bit of industrial deafness and they work ok for me. The sound is clearer with solid volume. They are a bit fiddly to put on and you have to get used to the way they feel. Mine came with different size grommets to fit all size ear canals. The only fault with them is you sometimes have to pop your ears to equalize pressure as the tight fit stops this happening on climb and decent. cheers Butch
  15. Your not Robinson Caruso! Been there done that Now happily married ( Take two )
  16. Me is mift that yas havin fun! Me is bout bored yas can only have so much fun with the misses ? I'z can't wait till this Covit goes down ….then I'z be doing some sh!t ?
  17. At 6.30 this morning I was delighted to hear the sweet sound of a light aircraft doing a fly by at our small town of Heathcote. Your not to far away...…...it might have been you! Well done PM ….The spirit of ANZAC Day ??
  18. Love the adrenalin rush when you push the throttle in! The satisfaction when your back on the ground! And that calm feeling after you park the aircraft away!
  19. Agree Nev, I have always argued everybody should be made sterile at birth. It would only be reversed when you can prove you can support and are capable to have a family. You have to prove youself before you can fly a plane, drive a car or graduate any degree. It's just to easy to pump out kids and live on the dole.
  20. Jackc"s Comment i now shop in a small town, won’t go near a shopping centre or fuel station (I have months of diesel at home) won’t go near a public toilet and I order products on line for delivery here. IF I have to drive 100s km I carry my own fuel and take food for the trip, least number of human beings contact the better, breaking the law as such? Yes ......but I apply MY law of logic and commonsense. Calm down Jack! Keep that stress level up and you will have a break down or a heart attack. We all have to die sometime...I'm not keen to do it at the moment, but I'm not going to let Covit 19 rule my life. If you want to have an early death the statistics tell you to fly a light plane or ride a motor bike! (both great fun) Wake up in the morning it's a great day!
  21. My Grandfather (who lived through the depression) favorite saying was " the harder I work , the luckier I get" Maybe if people didn't live from pay check to pay check instead of putting some money away, they would be the ones that benefit from hard times! This was going to happen anyway, people over commit ,new car ,four bedroom house and overseas holidays. Most on borrowed money. Covit 19 is the straw that broke the Camels back. It could be worse , history shows it is usually a War that sorts things out.
  22. Gee Nev , It would be great to borrow. Even if I could fly it I couldn't afford the fuel. ? How many litres per hour?
  23. An old eccentric local farmer had an old Roller.......he used to get down the local pub and tell everyone it would pass anything on the road except a petrol station lol
