  2. What a ridiculous situation, the company has just taken advantage of the poor old CFI and are now holding him to ransom...I would come there at the break of dawn and escape with my aircraft...what a rip off...try too anyway.. David
  3. Yes it looked great Dave, the owner had parked there for a couple of days so he wasn't around to have a sit inside it... but yes I would have like to go for a fly in it...what do they cruise at? David

  5. Well yes and then of course you throw in the wildcard raghead terrorist that manages to buy a couple of nuc's and because they are just crazy detonate them on some major city or cities and then who needs multi million $ aircraft then...we will all be living in caves again...if they spend half the amount of money trying to kill everyone, the US included, we might have spaceships that can go out and explore the universe and do some good things for mankind but I suppose we need to kill ourselves first to work all of this out...and it's not the normal person that decides all of this it is the governments that are supposed to protect and serve our best interests...yea right...back to the thread...sorry I will get off my soap box.... David

  19. Phil, Thanks for the story mate, they certainly seem like the VW beetle of Russia in aircraft terms, they were and are still everywhere it seems in different versions. When I was in Russia a couple of weeks ago I asked around about flying clubs etc, there are none it seems and I was told that you are not really permitted to fly a private aircraft like we do here and the rest of the world does. What a market for aircraft manufacturers if ever Mr Putin decided to let recreational aviation into Russia...the mind boggles with the possibilities, and I can tell you that there is no shortage of land to build airfields. David
  20. Hi Geoff, How did your W&B go the other day? David
  21. We are thinking of buying an aircraft from overseas, we have had received some preliminary quotes for disassembly and packing it into a container already, now we want to have a talk with anyone interested in doing a international ferry run with a single engine aircraft, we just want some rough figures to see whether it would be a practical alternative to putting into a container. I would think that we would be looking for a LAME qualified pilot, PPL or better and that could do the planning and also could do a pre inspection on the aircraft and maintenance that may come up on the trip home, we would envisage that you would be paid all personal costs involved including the commercial flight to pick up the aircraft. If you are interested please contact me via a PM or email me directly and we can discuss the trip in more detail. sales@australiansteelsheds.com.au David
  22. I love following his trip, so interesting, he is a lucky man to be able to do this...I reckon he will keep it going all the way back to Australia and why not I say... David
  23. Yes Kiwi303 it certainly is but I love Russia they say Australia is a country if extremes, Russia is that too but it's a wonderful country and people and most of them do it hard...I take my hat off to the people that live in the small villages, I have met some old folks that tear your heart out when they tell you about their life and how they live now...we do have it great here and if you don't think so go and visit some of these people they will change your mind. David
  24. Where my wife comes from Russia Nev she was used to live in -30+ every winter, she say's you just get used to it, they dress for that type of temperature, although she tells me now that it would nearly kill her to go back now in winter... David
  25. They breed them tough in Russia...a good belt of vodka and a big coat and cap and boots and they are good to go... David
