  1. Hi Ian, Yes you do need to reinvigorate the website from time to time, I am not sure if a forum based website like this one would be big enough for you to earn a full time living from it but as you say you need to give it a try... I would like to say to you, why not a user pays membership subscription fee to help with your costs, $5.00 a year or to get you a kick start ask the members for a $50 one off fee and $5.00 per year after that, some won't like it and you may loose them but if as you say you have 10,000 registered members even if 50% give you the one off $50 that's $250,000, that should help you to upgrade and cover your costs for a while. Like I said, you will probably loose some members but I think your site is very well established and with a loyal following and I am sure if you explained to everyone what the money will do for them, as the end user, the fair minded people will fork it out and let's face it there is nowhere else to go for Rec Flying info etc here in Australia. Just my thoughts Ian...good luck with it mate. David L
  2. A few of us were having a joke with Ross on Facebook stirring him up about his old cap, I only met him once at Old Station but we had a lot of talks on Facebook and few times on the phone but I did pick up on his humour...so here is the result of us stirring him up about his cap...We were all laughing when he showed us his new cap... David
  3. It was all over Facebook...terrible news...
  4. I am absolutely shocked and sadden by this news, I was just talking to him on Facebook yesterday...bugger .... my condolences to his family and friends...I was really looking forward to chatting with you again at next years Old Station flyin...RIP Ross.. David
  5. I may have said this before but if all of these countries think they are going to bomb IS into submission they are all just kidding themselves and playing up to the media to make it look like are really doing something...boots on the ground at the Syrian border for one thing...stop the flow of oil would be the first objective...strangle their funds and then go from there, yes there will be casualties for sure but I can't see any other real way of breaking these mongrels up and once I had their leaders I would start some beheading of my own...see how they like it... David
  6. Yes nearly there Mike !!!!! David
  7. Putin would not dare escalate this one as Turkey is a NATO country unlike the Ukraine, on a side note, we were talking to our son last night in Ivanovo and he said that there is talk of banning all goods from Turkey...problem is our son told us, that most of their clothing comes from Turkey....well the cheaper stuff which most of the poorer Russians buy...if this happens it will make it even harder for the average Russian but as we have seen before Putin doesn't really care about any of that...he will do it to show everyone how tuff he is...God help them...I wish we could bring Dan and my wife's parents here to live.. David
  8. Well done mate...we will probably run across each other over at Fly Now.... David

  13. I am looking for someone to detail my aircraft at Redcliffe, anyone around that is interested in doing this? give me a call...0459212181 David
  14. Yes thanks Bob, I was a long trip for one day, I would have preferred to do the trip in 2 as we had planed but the weather gods were not with us on Tuesday so we had to make the trip in 1 day. The plane came for the Air Warrnambool flying school and he was the original owner, the plane was registered RAAus when first built here in Redcliffe actually but he eventually changed it to VH, I have now changed it back to it's original rego number, so I guess you could say it has come home... I look forward to getting to know her better, now I can get my training finished although I think I had a first hand look at X country flying.!!!! David
  15. Hi guys, Yes Geoff we are all home safe and sound, it was a long day, we did over 800 miles and it took about 11hrs including 2 stops, one at Griffith and one at Moree, we started out having some nice tail winds bit as it normally happens they changed around to a head wind so that slowed us a bit but all in all it was a very nice trip and I thank Mahl for helping me out to bring my plane back here to Redcliffe. I will download a few photos later. David
  16. We couldn't get away from Warrnambool today, the weather was just not good enough, so it will be an early morning start and a long trip home in 1 day now....as you would guess the weather this afternoon has now cleared up but to late to leave... David
  17. Thanks guys....very exciting and my first real cross country trip... David
  18. Well finally the time has come...Mahl my CFI from Fly Now Redcliffe and I are going to pick up my first aircraft from Warrnambool, a 2006 Sportstar Plus, the aircraft has been reregistered from VH to RAAus, she is sitting in a hangar, she is fueled up, everything checked by Harv from Nelson Aeroplane Company, thanks Harv, the flight is booked with Jetstar for our flight to Melbourne Tullamarine tomorrow morning at 6.00am. Our flight will be Warrnambool-Narromine-Redcliffe we will overnight at Naromine and then onto Redcliffe with a few short comfort stops in between. Hopefully I will post a few photos on the way and the rest when we get back..Here is a photo of my new girl...
  19. My grandfather was one of the lucky ones that came back from Gallipoli and France...pity he died before I had a chance to know the man... Lest We Forget David
  20. It helps fund his 2 daughters education, opulent living conditions and their general fun in Europe where they both live...didn't ever think they would live in Russia do you.... Putin will not disappear anytime soon...the normal Russian love him..he is their hero..he is not going anywhere in the near future... David
  21. Well I think it is exactly the right time for him to show the Russian people and more the point the weak kneed yanks that he is a strong leader and will make the hard decisions... none of them will defeat the ISIS scourge only by the air, they need to put boots on the ground otherwise they are just fooling themselves...the yanks have done nothing all the time they have been there, well except for leaving all there weapons etc behind for all the terrorists to use against them and the other Allies.... David
  22. They showed picture of a door, not sure which one but it defiantly had signs of shrapnel hitting it like when you have an explosion and then the noise of an explosion on one of the black boxes so it looks like there was a bomb on board, if proved conclusively I guess back you Mr Putin....what will he do...send it ground troops to deal with the cowards... David
  23. I have not received anything...put my name down too... David
  24. Have a nice time up there guys David
  25. I would hope that no one is that stupid over anything to start dropping nuc's.... David
