  1. Yes sadly a bomb or as some commentators are saying it could have been a opportunistic hit as the plane came down lower to land at Cairo airport after the pilot radioed he had some technical issues...who knows...just don't fly over that part of the world...bloody cowards these terrorists... David
  2. Geoff, I am using Windows 8 and Chome and Internet Explorer, I have never had some much trouble going to a new website....just keeps saying this... 4. I am still having issues with finding the RAAus website...I just can not understand how they can migrate the website and have this issue...it is just ridiculous, I have sent an email to RAAus admin complaining about this, there should be an email sent to all members advising them of this problem and telling everyone of the way to fix it... David
  5. So Roscoe is it worth $1700 and if so what does it give you over the instruments that you have in your Jabiru for example... I was thinking of one of these mainly because you would not need factory approval in a LSA...maybe it would be better to wait and save the money and get the Dynon 100 EFIS...what do you think about the D2? David
  6. Yes all looking good Scott..very soon. David
  7. Come on guys there was one reason only why Russia annexed Crimea and it had nothing to do with whether the people there were Russian or Ukrainian, Putin doesn't give a toss about how the people are being treated or how they live or any other Russian for that matter with the exception of maybe a member of his party or his daughters and family....the black sea fleet is the only reason it was annexed, he could not let that fall under the power of a government that was being backed by the west....that's it... David
  8. Congratulations Mike on getting your Nynja up and flying, I know after flying around with Scott they are very nice to fly....so have a great time and hopefully we will meet up again at Old Station... David

  14. I watching these old videos yesterday and when I read this thread it reminded me of the stories main character and his sons near serious injury when he turned over the prop with everything turned off....but it seems he didn't figure on the hot engine after his flight dieseling back into life for one revolution of the engine when he turned the prop...he and his son were very lucky not to be seriously hurt or killed...I wonder with all of our new technology it could be possible for a modern engine to do just the same things as his did...here is a link to the videos...not sure which episode it was in... David
  15. I am hoping to start my navs soon so this is a very useful topic for me so forgive me if I ask stupid questions... but isn't the rule to fly the plane first? I just had a thought of how you are supposed to be doing all this figuring, and I am assumimng with a calculator and pen and log book on your lap , while looking out, checking your course watching your instruments etc etc...and of course actually flying the aircraft.. how are you doing all this...multi tasking?? or is there a simple method that I don't know about yet... I will doing this all manually while learning no Ipad? David
  16. What happens if your Ipad stops working? are you still doing a manual fuel log? David

David
  20. Yes of course the aeroplane jelly plane....I was trying to work out why it looked familiar... Looking out the window to see where you are flying must be a bit frightening sometimes especially landing it. David
  21. So he is another plane down, I wonder what he will replace it with, I imagine that there wouldn't be to many airworthy C46's flying around the world these days.. David
  22. Yes I agree Scott...looks great Mike... David
  23. Nope he certainly will not...heads will roll...... David

  25. I would take it a bit further and say, lets make it part of the training to take students into IMC conditions with an approved instructor and aircraft of course just to show pilots why it is so dangerous to do so, I always thing knowledge and training is always better than none at all. David
