  2. Thanks Ian...just printed them off and highlighted my 3 days of forums. What a fantastic selection! Thanks to all who have organised these! Not many sleeps to go! Scotty
  3. Yup...my Optus was a no go but Telstra was fine. Scotty
  4. Try Ann Pike at: [email protected] Ann has always been helpful in booking a site. Scotty
  5. Im building my Piet with the Corvair which should help with that forward view some what. Thanks for posting the Pics Tomo. Scotty
  6. Thanks Slarti...exactly what I was looking for and some fantastic forums for a home builder like me!...Cant wait! Phil...im planning on driving down from Tamworth on Thursday and leaving Sunday. Im waiting to hear if the museum is going to put a flight display on or not. Heard they may? I will be camping at the Airport so I will give you my number by email and feel free to give me a call and I might shout you a can of Coke! Let me know if you need me to bring plans or Corvair manual if you want to have a look while your there. I will probably bring a set of Piper J3 replica plans down and list them for sale in the Fly Market. I decided on the Piet so these are surplus now. regards Scotty
  7. Has there been a program released yet for Natfly 2011? I am trying to work out what sessions are on when so I know if I need to go down Thursday or Friday. I cant find much info at all on the web. Am I not looking in the right places? Scotty
  8. OK...everyone stop looking! My Carb arrived today! Thanks Geoff!
  9. Hi Geoff, PM sent! Thanks mate!
  10. Hi all.....I am "Putting my feelers out" to see if anyone has a rebuildable MA-3SPA Carb which are used on Continental O-200 engines. The carb part number is 10-4894. I am building a Pietenpol with a Corvair engine and this is the recommended carb. If you dont have one you would like to sell, who are the major aircraft wreckers in Australia? I will look at anything as long as it is rebuildable without cracks in the body or bad corrosion. Regards Scotty
  11. Sydney Institute of Technology in Ultimo use to have a fantastic Cert in Aviation which ran at night. I attended that and it was great! I think I got 94% for PPL if I recall. I learn best in the class room situation so it depends on the individual. I did the CPL and Instrument theory with them and flew through and I am no scholar! Dam that was a great course....unfortunately they canned it that year due to lack of students I was trying to remember the Air Force chap...Bill someone....he had the patience of a saint! He would keep explaining things different ways till it sank in...amazing guy.
  12. Hi Mark...have seen pictures from that site but havent read it all. Looks good. There are numerous Corvair aero conversion sites out there. This guy is doing a few odd things with his but I guess thats what makes experimental so experimental!
  13. Hi EK....never heard of them. Im using the Corvair as I have most of it here now. You living in Masterton? I did my training at Wairarapa Funeral Services with David Dew. I know he opened up his own one there at one stage. Scotty
  14. Im looking at mine now Nev...
  15. Whats your email and I will send you what I have. Scotty
  16. Standby...with a little fiddling its up!...cool!
  17. At the fear of sounding like a techno numpty, its a lemon for me. Keeps saying my subscription expired and I have to renew it.
  18. Thanks Chris and Bob!...a flame of hope is still flickering! I will look in to this as it is something I have always wanted to do. Actually we had a Xmas party at home last night and one of my wifes friends Husbands is a LAME after a chat! Apparently there is a chap who does instrument repairs at our local airport that is lookig for some one. I am a Trade Certified Watchmaker among other things and I remember the old fellow who taught me said I could go on to do Aircraft instrument work so there may be a door! I am going to do some further research as ideally if I could knock as many of them over part time, that suits me better financially at the moment having a young family to support. Thanks guys I appreciate all your advice! Scotty
  19. Hi Guys...thank you all for your help. A full time gig for me is out of the question due to family etc. Looks like I may have to miss it I was hoping there could be a distance way to do it and then find a local LAME to do some practical with. Scotty
  20. So what is involved in doing an airframe mechanics apprenticeship? Is it a full time gig? Scotty
  21. Hi all...hoping some one with some LAME training under their belt can give me some advice? I dont want negative comments and people telling me I cant do it, just the facts please! Being a LAME has always interested me and it still sits in the back of my mind. Can you study part time and do individual subjects? I have a family so can not dedicate a full time scenario. If so what Uni's offer these courses? Is it the same basic training to be a Heli LAME compared to fixed wing or a complete different set of rules? Thanks again for any advice. Scotty
  22. Hi Guys...yes just jumped on the FAA website and downloaded it! You guys are champions! Thanks again Scotty
  23. Thank you for that. That was one of the ones I was looking at as well as the Principles of Helicopter flight. Have you compared the two of those? I appreciate your comments. Scotty
  24. I fly fixed wing and know bugger all about rotary. My 11 yr old son is keen on learning to fly helicopters and was thinking an introductory book on learning to fly a helicopter would be a good stocking filler for Xmas. Can anyone recommend a text that may be suitable? Regards Scotty
  25. I believe the Model A is considerably heavier. The Corvair cost depends a lot on what you pay for a core I guess. What options are you wanting to put on it? What carby etc? Im bringing rebuilt parts in from the USA. Its the freight that is the killer. I reckon mine will be around the $5000 to get it in the air? That is with a magnafluxed and nitrided crank, heads from Falcon engineering and a 5th bearing. Will also have forged pistons and rods and an OT10 cam. That is the standard at the moment to ensure good safety and reliability. Scotty
