  1. Something about the lines of that boeing reminded me of an old favourite of mine, the Bristol 138 Got to some crazy altitudes for the time and the pilot's Outfit was pure Flash Gordon...love it
  2. A good friend of mine regularly visits Chinese Factories to arrange supply of mostly audio/video equipment, he has said they often hand you some poor/inconsistant quality to start with and you have to be really clear about what quality you want...so it takes him a couple of trips but in the end he gets the quality he wants and even with the to and fro factored in and the time lost it must make more financial sense than buying from home or perhaps there just isnt anywhere closer that actually makes mass market electronics these days From my own experience in the world of Bicycles, China makes some right garbage as do a lot of the suppossed high end western companies, but Taiwan makes awesome Bikes, the best in the world..funny that Sorry for huuuge thread drift
  3. Looks Nasty, hope they both make a full recovery
  4. A lot of us in the UK run something called a Pilot aware, it transmits its own proprietry signal that other Pilot aware users can recieve ...AND.... it recieves ADSB, Mode C/S and Flarm, I was involved in early testing and run one still, its probably the best traffic reciever out there for small GA use...actually forget probably it IS the best Traffic reciever out there for small GA use😁

    J230 Paint questions

No worries, was a little tickler for Nev but he has resisted reacting😁

Umm was a joke ..see the jab mag thread

    J230 Paint questions

Yea but not much if you're only painting the mags😁
  8. The Jab uses neither Bendix or slick type but a system basically akin to a motorcycle magneto . Looking at the manual ii think that the sensor for the slick 600 would work with a suitable bracket that put the sensor close to the flywheel magnets, give JP a call. I'm quite surprised that they advertise this unit for only those 2 magneto types with no mention of usage on the Jab or rotax. Some the stuff available from MGL (Blaze and VEGA EMS units) has the same functions for a lot less money and are certainly compatible with the Jab
  9. I still try, but since the councils stopped cutting back the trees and hedges around the bliddy road signs I keep getting lost
  10. Sounds close to the position here in the UK, except for the IFR requirement . I.E mode S required for new fit, but can replace existing Mode C with same. ADSB Is bugger all use here as far as ATC goes (Trials are ongoing and I believe a very small number of ATC units actually have recievers on trial) Only Reason I have ADSB out set up is for other aircraft with a suitable reciever to see me, which similarly seems to be the only gain Skippy would see. I use a seperate ADSB reciever, but you could of course just buy a SkyEcho with in/out, though that would not cover the IFR ADSB requirement you have which would need fully certified install....dunno if Skippy flys IFR
  11. Sorry skippy.you've lost me, by "OUT" I presume you mean ADSB - out or extended squitter as its sometimes called. but if your not transmitting it how are you fairly sure ATC is seeing it, it probably sees your mode S but thats not what is being talked about. Not being critical just confused by your reply P.S. of you dont have Hanger access, then the same thing can be achieved by shielding your GPS Antenna (Tin foil hat styleee)
  12. Skippy, sorry if I'm missunderstanding but if you are saying you unsure if you have ADSB enabled 1.take plane outside turn on transponder and gps reciever you have fitted. wait a few minutes or untill you get a good fix. 2. wheel plane back inside and close the doors (dont turn anything off) If you have a gps connected and set up with your Trig then after a short time the display will tell you that you have lost ADSB function Though tbh iyou do have it set up already you probably would have seen this message before at some point
  13. Thanks, So all my comments regarding rotation in this thread are complete bollox., I'll try go back and make notes when I'm at my PC
  14. Apologies if already aware, but I reckon you might find the website below interesting, it contains a great deal of information on little known aircraft both conceptuel and realised https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/
  15. Something just struck me..In my musings when I state rotation as CCW or CW im looking at the back of the motor....same for you? I ask as I'm still researching this in the hope of cross referencing the starter
  16. SIL setting tells recievers the level of integrity which also differentiates between certified and uncertified kit, I'm getting the impression that everyone is talking about just the certified side.
  17. Read my post again, I said I don't know your regs and didn't say this was allowed, I know hat actually works though. I was an early adopter of ADSB and was involved in the UK testing of uncertified fitments
  18. I've no idea what the regs are in Australia over here only certified aircraft need to use the kit you mention, but any GPS that has an NMEA output will work. I have used a Garmin 496 In the past but now its fed by a 10 quid chinese usb dongle GPS. Also you don't need an ADSB Antennae the transponder squits it out via the existing transponder antenna
  19. You simply need to connect any GPS Source that has NMEA out capability to the XPDR, its one wire and a ground As to what capability it gives you...it allows anyone with an ADSB in capability to accurately see your position, height and registration so handy for traffic avoidance. I have it enabled on my Trig and also use a a traffic detection unit that picks up ADSB as well as as Mode C/S and flarm edit, you may be thinking oh well if my traffic detection thingy picks up mode S then the whole ADSB thing gives me nothing extra except registration which is not needed...this is not the case, the traffic units that pick up Mode C/S can only give a very vague position/altitude reading base on stuff like signal strngth or multilateration, whereas ADSB is giving out Data from GPS so accurate height, position and speed
  20. I wouldnt say its irrelevant, I'm sure anyone who knows what an AMP/Hour also knows you simply times it by the Voltage to get a watt/hour, and both these numbers will be on the battery
  21. Yes Most who buy it wont even know what an Ampere is so more zeros just looks impressive but more concerning is no matter which units they choose it probably doesnt have the capacity its advertised to have anyway, most of them are lying some of them to a huge degree coljones True, but when you get as high as 30,000mah I think you've crossed the point where you should be using ah
  22. Its still there https://williampatrickdean.com/conroy-cl-44-guppy-broken-up/
  23. Spot on
  24. Yea should have added ...use a light penetrating lube whilst attempting this
