  1. Thy still do, but its a very different operation and obviously not available to civilian aviation .....Well apart from being chosen in an emergency of course like anywhere else
  2. Oh come on Brend, I've heard the stories🤠
  3. What an excellent undertaking. Kudos to whoever pushed to get this done Not many countries it could work
  4. Is this marked out on a public road?
  5. Unusual to give such a definite timescale, where did you read that?
  6. Kiss and make Up?😚..🤣
  7. Oh No, very sad to hear that. RIP Planet47
  8. Yea car and motorcycles usually have a boot toot to keep the lube in and dirt out. I use Copaslip antisieze on exposed pins of floating calipers as it seems to stay in place a bit better than plain grease
  9. You basically reinforce my point by giving a link to a story on the issue. As I stated, there is an abundance of information available on this subject. The world moves on, headlines change and people have short memories but the Internet retains this stuff if you take the time to look
  10. Some information?, you're kidding...how much more would you like there to be? . Deficiencies in Boeing QA was all over the internet and MSM last year, especially after the door falling off fiasco because they didnt even fit the bolts. All widely discussed.
  11. Get someone who knows about Bing Carbs to look at your setup. When you say it doesn't seem to do anything are you saying that at the times it does start, pulling the choke* on and off makes no change? Dont go throwing money at addons before varifying the proper functioning of existing kit. *it's not actually a choke but let's call it that for simplicity
  12. So you want all that on the grip?, would have helped if you said that in the first post
  13. As they now have the FDR and CVR there should be rapid progress in the investigation.
  14. Tracking whilst still on the ground is always sketchy for obvious reasons
  15. Sorry that was no help... I was always able to start mine down to temperatures of about + 6C (any colder and I wouldnt want to fly my draughty aeroplane) A decent battery is required to chuck it over with thick cold oil and make sure the starter circuit in the bing is clear, there is a jet in the float bowl that is important to the starting circuit and a hole half way up the channel the jet sits in that is crucial to be clear. and of course make sure the rubber manifold is not cracked and is seated properly. You may have any number of problems that are very difficult to diagnose remotely, but 16c should be no problem for a properly set up Jab
  16. Who told you that nonsense?, if Jabs couldnt start when it was<16c nobody with one in the UK could fly for 10 months of the year.
  17. Airliners usually fit the CVR and FDR in the tail section, the tail section looks quite intact and accessible. I cant see why there shouldnt be a comparatively quick resolving of what caused this
  18. Well that second piece is just a joke As for the claim that lawn bowls is so dangerous...if the calculation is actually true then of course it will have far more to do with the fact that it's a game played mostly by the elderly and infirmed not because of any Inherent danger it holds
  19. Ta, over here in the UK we have e10 as the regular mogas grade and E5 'super' at 97-98 RON, up untill last septemeber Esso 'Super was Ethanol free now there is no ethanol free mogas available so us Rotax users have been forced into E5 or the ridiculously overpriced UL91 ..or of course that orrible 100LL, but that's a last resort
  20. Brenden stop with grudge shit everytime someone expresses a view not aligned to yours, its getting tedious
  21. Maybe I should clarify for the hard of thinking, when did Fuel with a proportion of ethanol become available at the Pumps in Australia?
  22. Out of interest, when did Ethanol start being introduced at the pumps in Australia?
  23. My opinion is allowed here I believe
  24. I think its more down to the changing fuel chemistry in the last 20 years, especially the ethanol introduction. One thing that confuses me is the reccomendations for these epoxy floats, I had a shadow wwhich had fibrelam tanks held together with epoxy (Araldite), when Ethanol started to be introduced the tank started falling apart at the internal epoxy joints...I guess this epoxy must be very different?, I'd wait a bit before rushing to this new 'solution'
