  1. Nobody in here for a while so I'll just give that last thing an ID via Google: Sigma 5 Nice looking thing, but I remain hugely sceptical about so called flying cars. Have a go at this:
  2. I wonder if the 32mm Bing as fitted to very early Jab Engines might do better at altitude? anyone still have the smaller Carby fitted?
  3. Hello vk3, you might get more responses in some of the other sections of the forum Try: instruments-radios-and-electronics all the best, Red
  4. I run Esso super unleade in my jab as its the only Mogas around here with no ethanol in it, its quite inexpensive now......... fat lot of good that is to me I havn't had the jab engine long enough to get a consistant LPH Figure but it's about 13LPH, certainly nowhere near what jab says it is..I run about 2600-2700rpm cruise Oh forgot to say its in a draggy airframe (Easy Raider tail dragger)
  5. Been a long time since I have seen an 80'S RMX, I havnt had a 2 stroke bike since my 89 KX250, the husky 701 I have is too heavy for the woods and the WR250 Yam is just gutless.......mmmmmmmmmm smokers (sorry for thread drift)
  6. P.S. Close to a thousand deaths a day here now, so for those of you still comparing this to ordinary flu, well what can I say. You lot down under have the great advantage of wide open spaces so hopefully you will do much better than the UK stay well all
  7. Covid19 has basicly stopped Private flying in the UK, its not a matter of distancing rather the fact that if you were to have any sort of incident/accident you would be tying up an emergency crew and hospital workers when they are allready working beyond capacity....basicly it would be very selfish to go for a jolly whilst nurses and doctors are dying on the job. It's not actually a law as yet and doesnt seem like it needs to be as every pilot I know is doing the right thing anyway (its a shame as the weather is great now and before the virus we had six months of crap unflyable weather but its hardly a sacrifice when put against what some are going through here in the UK)
  8. About 5 years ago now, I was flying from Plockton in north west Scotland intending to get to Isle of Bute before dark, the weather closed in and with visibility over the water getting poor I decided to make a precautionary landing, by this time light was dim and had rain on the screen, I turned back towards land and selected what looked like the only bit of level field around...it was only as I flared to Land that I could see the grass was a tad long Picture taken the following morning, safe landing but how to get back out? Well the Farmer was very helpfull and after 2 days spent in the Local Pub, he returned to tell me his neighbour had cut me a 200 metre strip so I was able to fly off and continue my journey back to Wales I didnt know at the time, but the rocky hill in the background is an Ancient hill fort believed to be the capital of the ancient kingdom of Dál Riata
  9. Please post any Links you have in this thread and I'll add them to the list Ta, Red Aerofix Jabiru Owners [email protected] | Topics Service Bulletins https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/JSL023-1_Jabiru-Engine-Overhauling-Build-Issues.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/JSB014-3_Propeller_Installation_Maintenance.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/JSL022-1_Fuel_pump_drain.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/JSB012-5_Flywheel_Screws.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/JSB040-2-Jabiru_-Mechanical-Fuel-Pump.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSB004-4_Oil_Pump-Cooler.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSB005-2_Early_6Cyl_Muffler.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL014-5_Jabiru_Cylinder_Head_Inspection_DRAFT_.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL008-2_Valve_Spring_Washer_wear.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL007-7_Fuel_Guidance.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL018-1_Oil_Cooler_Hoses.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL017-1_Pattern_Parts.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSB031-3_Through_Bolt_Replacement_and_Upgrade.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL015-1_Rotor_Button.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL010-1_Service_intervals.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSB018-3_Jabiru_Engine_Tuning.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JBS022-2.pdf <propellor flange attachment https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL009-1_Starter_Solenoid.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/JSB033-2_Piston_Circlips.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSB021-1.pdf <configuration update https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Starter-Motor-earth-Cable_JSL005-1.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Dip-Sticks-8A035A0D-1.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSB010-3.pdf <statement of compliance to ASTM LSA https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL004-1-Engine-Cooling.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSL002-3cancel-letter.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Engine-Cooling-JSB016-1.pdf https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/JSB013-1.pdf <engine rocker chamber vent https://jabiru.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Revised_Jabiru_Engine_TBO.pdf
  10. Ello Ken, welcome to the group I have a 2.2 gen 2 in an Easy Raider taildragger Microlight, was just getting into the groove with it after 7 years with a 912 powered Skyranger then the world went to shit. Spending the down time researching and planning. Depending on the length of the shutdown I might remove my engine and do give it a going through including replacing flywheel bolts Hoping the future brings better days Stay safe matey
  11. A forum for the Exchange of info and experiences operating the Jab/Camit range of engines. Hope it is of some use
  12. Red has created a new group called Jabiru Engines. Group for Owners/Operators of Jabiru engines
  13. Propellorhead, a good laff Vulcan 607, gripping stuff On a negative note just finished reading Mike Busche's book on engines and whilst it has some good info, it could quite easily be a third or even half the 500 pages he used up repeating himself and telling anecdotes about how great he is at solving stuff. Not worth the money IMHO
  14. It looks a bit like an oil/fuel level window, but I've never seen one that clips on, perhaps from a lawnmover engine or some such...definately not a jab engine part
  15. Eh?, are you saying someone in an aeroplane flying low and near the stall got out and did an oil change? edit sorry about the confusion
  16. Talking of "silly pictures involving aircraft", we've probably all seen the one below it is real but even accounting for their being a pilot in the rear seat who you can't see, well call me chicken but I wouldn't P.S. I always wondered if he actually got it started
  17. If you can't tell that they are 2 blokes, I advise being very very careful between now and your next visit to the optician:oh yeah:
  18. Whats the problem? , the hangers are about as tall anyway. The only problem there is the Strips have some nasty sunken spots, its far from smooth, the wind turbine is no problem either. P.S. I must admit the turbines at Caernavon are a bit spooky first time you go there
  19. Yes I've seen that onetrack and notably my throttle is a plunger type placed away from the trim lever so the main apparent reason for that incident will not get me Thanks for the Reply.
  20. Sold my Skyranger and bought an Easy Raider which as far as I can work out is the UK version of the Skyraider II. Information on these aeroplanes seems very thin on the Ground, any owners on here? I would love to here any info or stories you have I'm enjoying learning to get to grips with mine.
  21. Actually they DON'T make ALL the parts available unless you are rotax approved. ☢
  22. I had a D2 for 3 years, the first one had a faulty sensor, it was replaced under warranty after a lot of to and froing, the replacement worked, but the screen was not readable in bright whiteout type conditions, you know when there is low sun and poor viz with little to no horizon, somehow I never trusted it and I wouldnt buy anything from Dynon again they seem to be happy to blame problems on the user
  23. Hello, I fly a Skyranger Classic from a farm strip near Abergavenny, Been flying Microlights about 5 years so still wet behind the ears relatively speaking, but I fly as often as possible and love it. Unlikely I'll get to meet any of you in person, but I extend a virtual handshake and wish you all calm skies and safe journies Russell
