  1. I have a spare SHINDENGEN FH020AA from one of my bikes, the input is 3 phase, not sure can this be used single phase with just the 2 wires from the 912 generator?
  2. Yep, you wont believe how light EarthX can make your wallet
  3. It looks like either an american School bus or a yellow cab...I dont get the connection with Biden, whats the joke?
  4. Jabirus are built light which together with Price probably forms the 2 main attractions. This focus on keeping weight down over other conventional flat 4 aircraft 4 strokes will always show up problems, the engine has undergone constant updates to try and address failure points.
  5. Thanks, seems a very valid explanation of the root of the problem. Do many Jabiru models require that ridiculous length of prop drive extension?
  6. Don't ask me I dont make the rules. P.S. Maybe they think more people have experience of 4 strokes in one form or another I really dont know but I'm pretty sure the majority of people under about 40 wouldnt even attempt an oil change on their car these days, the lack of knowledge and experience of anything mechanical amongst the majority of youngsters in the developed world is frankly shocking
  7. Me neither, it has never been a thing in the UK and decades of prior 2 stroke experience probably aided more than any endorsement could when I got my first aircraft with 503, but not everyone who gets a licence to fly has experience of engines of any type and in the case of licence categories that allow owner maintenance some training might well be usefull for them. It's a mistake to assume that just because something is bad or unnecessary for you the same applies to everyone.
  8. Is there a lack of Flight training availability is your part of the world?. Something that a few people do over here in Britland is go somewhere like Portugal and do an intensive course for a licence over there sometimes combining it with a holiday, it is usually quicker than over here due to our crap weather. Is something like that feasible for you?, I realise the distances involved will be much larger but life is short get on with it.
  9. Sounds reasonable, many people have little or no experience of 2 stroke engines. What does the Endorsement cover?
  10. Where was your CO detector made?
  11. UK CAA recently made Fitment of a CO alarm/monitor mandatory, I've always fitted one . I sometimes get a 10ppm Indication, I have it located where I can easily see the display. Those old school black dot stick on things were always a complete waste of money
  12. 275 ton Lithium battery, hmm I'm not sure how long this needs to be in service to offset the very un-green process of making those batteries to make the whole a greener enterprise compared to fossil fuels. Also the factor of a battery weighing just as much when depleted as when fully charged becomes quite a large negative aspect at this scale Maybe someone here has the time to go through the calculation of work done V environmental impact, its quite complicated
  13. Just how many airworthiness classes are there in Australia? Reads like a right mess
  14. Its a known Jabiru thing, you've got the wrong engine
  15. Yea I been noticing that a lot lately, all I see is a placeholder/link saying " " if I click on it I still dont see any image or text A facebook thing perhaps?, I never see anything posted from that type site (dont want to tbh)
  16. Indeed your comment wasn't generalised it was directed at specific engines, well done on not admitting you were mistaken and handing out some general info as if it legitimises your specific criticism. You do this often.
  17. I haven't heard of an issue with studs breaking on 9 series engines, where did you read that?
  18. Red

    Folland Gnat

Second pic shows Hawks (the Gnat's succesor)
  19. Facebook, can't see it. Does he post elsewhere?
  20. Detail is important ..Quote " no component cost to the customer." Removal of engine, complete strip of engine and rebuild with new crank plus any transport costs involved in shipping parts/engines aint gonna be cheap.
  21. Take off Run 200m?, riiiight🤣
  22. Lycoming I-0-540 No idea why that first spec says M14-P as they are 9 cylinder Radial engines and one look at the picture tells you they aint radials on that bird .
  23. Yea and the ride is cr@p, really harsh and you lose grip as the tyre doesnt deform and comply to the surface. You can also get Mousse foam inserts for off road motorcycles, Ive used them and again the ride and grip is reduced, plus they are bu99ers to fit and eventually break down. There is nothing to compete with gas filled tyres on any vehicle, just that the risk of punctures is always there Aviation wise, id still say there is nothing that provides the same shock absorption as a gas fill and as you say, weight can't be bettered
  24. Groundspeed or airspeed?, had a bit of a tailwind there😁 Nah seriously thats silly fast, I dont know how you keep track of which way its pointing
