  1. This is just unreal footage --- LINK
  2. Well a possible result that could come from the demise of two strokes is the market may become flooded with four strokes and the price become cheaper:big_grin: Ok I will wake up now lol
  3. That is so what my father would say, I fly weightshift trikes and he is a Qantas Captain. His famous line is "Real planes have four engines, 6 toilets, weigh a hundred tonnes and has a Hostie to bring you coffee. lol:laugh:
  4. I used to be a member of LARCS at loganholme. There is also a club at Pine Rivers, Gold Coast and Tingalpa. The problem with flying in parks is the risk. We all do it but have to be carefull. A incident happened in a park at Chandler last year were a 16 yr old and his father were flying two RC electrics when the father lost it. It hit a lady walking a dog and she successfully sued for $55,000. When in a club the membership covers insurance aswell. BUT, flying electrics in a park is a hell of alot cheaper and more accessable so if the park is empty go for it. There is a great park at Cannon Hill on Wynnum Road just down from the shops. The secret is there use a 2.4ghz radio as tingalpa RC Plane club is only about 2 kms away and most new radios have tripple that in range.
  5. Thats good to hear, It means I can keep dreaming. It is a sad fact bud I still think 2 strokes sound great!!!!

All the best and never stop dreaming
  7. I wonder what the reasons are, could it be the same reason as the MotoGP 125 and 250 class bikes are a dying type aswell due to the tree hugging individuals scared about emissions???
  8. Cheers, I have just confused myself with all thats out there. I wasn't going to get into electrics but the neighbours don't like a nitro os 90 zooming around the park at 11,000rpm don't know why:laugh:
  9. Seeing that video has finally given me belief that they fly. I might just dust of those plans after all
  10. Tomo, Good to hear you guys are finnally getting wet. I drove out that way a while back and I have never seen it so dry.
  11. I just did a youtube search on that guy, he is unbelievable some of the other aero videos in helis he has done is mindblowing.
  12. anyone with any suggestions???
  13. Too True:thumb_up::thumb_up:
  14. I have read two Brian Milton Books- Chasing Ghosts and Global Flyer. Both about his long distance trike flights. They are a bit of a "look at me" books but a great read anyhow. I have the book "The best I can be" by Alana Arnott on my shelf. Has anyone read it as I havent had a chance as of yet?

No probs T83, I wasn't worried, I love that video and any excuse to watch it again
  16. I have just read through this thread and I have to say it saddens me at the typical council actions as seen here. What is wrong with this country. You have locals and businesses like yourself wanting to nurture and foster a local community airport yet they would much rather play ridiculous games with the big boys. I wish you all the best guys and I hope you make one hell of a noise. All the best and well done.:thumb_up::thumb_up:
  17. Classic:thumb_up: Ah mariage, the thing we only do 3 times in our life lol
  18. Yeah it is good, Try this one aswell. Sunshine Coast Queensland Weather Forecast (Swell, Wind, Tide, Rain & Temperature) The one thing is it is originally deigned for surfers so it shows High winds as good. Reverse the settings and you can have it as green shown for light winds(good flying)
  19. Cralis, Try this site, Bellmere, Caboolture, QLD - Live Weather Data - Histoical Weather Data - Queensland - Weather - Rain - UV Index - Wind It was mentioned on this forum before and I think it's member who lives near YCAB and has his own live weather station. It's also good to save the drive if the weather is looking crap.
  20. Shags and Cralis, Do you think what I wrote in my post today refers to what you guys are talking about now, confusion from to many sources? Cralis I know you said you were contacting your instructor so this wasn't a dig at you just I can see how confusing it all gets with everyones finger in the pie.
  21. Ian, They are all very valid points but my concern is this, Your Point 1, every instructor is different yes, we all should ask questions but when those questions are being answered by 10-12 different people all it ends up in is confusion. The student will be in the air doing a revision lesson on lets say straight and level and the instructor will ask a question, it is then the student gives an answer on what joe, bob, frank has told him and the instructor is like "where the hell did you get that from? Your point 2, yes there is good and bad instructors but how on earth can a student who is learning from scratch tell the difference. The student gets told one thing face to face then another on a forum who's a bad one and who's a good one? Your Point 3, A student is lucky to take in 25%, thats probably true buts that is 25% of a syllabus and a set lesson structure between instructor and student. Get another 10 people's opinions in the mix and that so called 25% now is next to nothing. It maybe lots of random knowledge but no good to a learning pilot who is alreday struggling to keep it all in. I am in no way bagging this part of the forum, it is a good knowledge source but at the correct time. How about us students(me inclusive) get the basics down pat then absorb others theories on the fact. Just remember all instructors pass the same course to do what they do so obviously there isn't good and bad ones, maybe just ones that can't pass on their knowledge as good as others and if thats the case it should be looked at by the student . In my opinion when you make the commitment to train with an instructor you put your trust in them, if you doubt what they are saying there is always a choice. And as far as Pelorus knowledge is concerned I have no doubt in his capabilities it shines through in all his posts but I wasn't comenting on who was wrong and who was right here, just maybe a quick thought for the students instead of seing who knows most. I am sure that instructors who have comented on this thread would be pretty shirty if we all second guess them. Just a thought You can throw rocks at me know
