  4. Given that I have a short landing need, I can mitigate the xwind to an extent by landing at an angle across the runway. Xwind landing practice should be standard, apart from emergencies, its fun...looking out the side window to get the runway picture and then straightening up and dropping the into wind wing for the landing. Dont you just love the way the aircraft weathercocks into the Xwind on take off...???
  5. nope...didnt even know one was coming...
  6. From memory, what little I have, the music CD was released as one six left?
  7. Can someone tell me what the documentary about an american runway was called. Old age memory kicking in... (sorry folks found it...one six right)..
  8. I have always thought that there should be a component of recovery from unusual attitudes for all pilots. Maybe a stint or lesson in an aerobatic GA aircraft to learn recovery techniques. Nothing in the Ra Aus books shows that and there are a couple of occaisions where I could have used this info myself, once I go hit by rotor taking off from Mudgee and only me and my dry cleaner know how close I came. A little more training in recovery from unusual attitudes would have helped. Just sayin..
  9. Nope I am not, but then you should also apply that to driving schools, do you think that 200 deaths a month is ok./ Instead of complaining about the standard of training, and I assume you have checked every school in Australia, then how about providing a decent solution instead of just throwing money at it. Dont give me problems, give me proper and usable answers....
  10. The flight school I attended and learned to fly at stressed proper flight planning, procedures and over all airmanship. I have no problems with the professionalism and standard of training I received. I am a qualified trainer and all opf my instruction was at the highest level. No complaints from me......thanks Teraya.
  11. At the risk of being flamed, we are not a rich organisation, the training system has worked well to date being overseen by the members of the Raa permanent staff. Why do we need to employ another person to fix something that aint broke. The fact I fly rag and tube has nothing to do with my asking this question, I ask it as a concerned member who pays fees and expects the management to spend them wisely. I will get behind the organisation at any time but that support, both in time and financial must be used responsibly and with justification, not throwing money at supposed good ideas that dont need to be fixed. Are they saying that the accreditation process in Raa Aus is flawed and the people overseeing it dont know what they are doing? I do not feel I need to be a board member to voice my concerns, but if you are worried that much nominate me...........
  12. They increase fees, cut the magazine, complain about no money and now want to employ someone to oversee what has been running fine for years. Please tell me there is a really, really, good reason for this. If someone is empire building, get rid of them quick smart.
  13. If it is a 19 reg aircraft then you need written permission from RAA Aus to fly over built up areas.
  14. Thanks Gandalph, I was just going to drop in to say I had done it and put it on the list of ala's I could land at in the area around Goulburn. (thermos of coffee, sunny day, zzzzz for half an hour against the undercarriage under the wing and then depart, you know, recreationing to the max..lol.) the step doesn't worry me nor the grass strip but I might put it in the to hard basket if it is going to put people out. Thanks for the offer anyway, much appreciated.
  15. Maybe a phone number for me to ring them? or an email address, maybe someone from the Canberra flying club, migrating seagulls, mice, anyone???
  16. thanks mnewbury and after reading that I repeat all of my questions because that thread answerewd none of them...thanks anyway.
  17. I was informed that they had 10 years of articles backlogged, I contributed and nada. Just saying...
  18. Can anyone tell me if this airstrip is still operational, is it private and can anyone land there or is permission needed. If permission needed, can I have a contact number please?
  19. What do the C and D in the questionaire mean???
