  1. Some of the flight videos being posted on this site are top quality and reflect brilliantly the appeal of this great sport of ours. What cameras, mounts do you use, where do you mount the cameras and what software do you use to edit/compile the videos for keeping/presentation. Many of you have made passing reference to this but it seems about time we had a good discussion and got the information in one spot so all of the rest of us can learn from your expertise and "have a go". If any one knows a good 'How to..." please list it. Cheers Maynard
  2. Wow, looks like a great day. The Stearman and the Xair (mighty aircraft both) were obviously the standout aircraft of the day . Seriously, all of the photos are great. Cheers Maynard
  3. What an amazing, awesome trip. Great one for the bucket list. Now, if only the Xair could carry that much fuel between stops...? hmmmmm.
  4. Well done DM1, enjoy the bugs in the teeth feeling that drifters bring. Congratulations!!!
  5. Single seater, keep the important ones in front of you in the centre (especially with a 24" panel). Save your self the beating and nod wisely, and then do your own thing. Cheers Maynard
  6. Rationing has finished? Where do I cash in my coupons and can I fill in the bomb shelter? I was just about to send out food parcels, oh well, maybe there will be anothewr war later in the century. Must get out the model T and wash it.
  7. Alan, vry interested in your experiences with iridium plugs. We had a discussion the hanger today re the merits or otherwise of std NGK v's Platinum tips v's iridium plugs. Most use the std ones but I am interested in hearing your, and any other experieces with the other plugs be they for 4 stroke or 2 stroke us. Cheers Maynard
  8. This is some of the best model footage I have seen!!!
  9. Who was the ex pert, who pays him, does he fly 2 strokes, does he repair 2 strokes, does he even know what a 2 stroke is? Obviously hasn't had much positive experiences with 2 strokes. Plenty of engines out there running well after TBO with regular maintanence and care. US or Aus branch of the EAA? So many questions, so little time ................

Geez Pud, that looks great. Is the older one in the hanger the next project? Can't wait untill you publish the flight data after its first flight. Rag and Tube rock! (from an Xair owner Cheers Maynard
  11. Uninteresting plane to fly? So what do you classify as interesting?
  12. Geurnsey, Spoke to the guys from the AMSA (marine search and rescue) at Temora re this. You can use the PLB for marine, land or air as long as you go onto the registration site and specify the use for that purpose (you are not locked in to that purpose only, you can change it.) Takes 2 minutes to list marine , or change it to aviation etc. The guy that sends the rescue people out said that he would really like to know what he is looking for, a plane, a biat, hiker etc, so he can allocate resources and search parameters to suit. Read the site specified by Magcheck and read your owners manual from your plb. Cheers Maynard
  13. www.pemet.com.au is one that they used there as I downloaded a weather briefing before flying out. Put together and placed by Ian Boag. I wouldn't be without it in my favourites folder.
  14. I was approached by one of the refuellers at Temora during Natfly. He showed me a new 2 stroke oil that has been developed by shell in conjunction with rotax for 2 stroke engines. (the rotax association was on the label. He said that shell wanted a n oil to accompany the 4 stroke aeroshell product. I didn't buy any as I have 4 lts of activ 2t left but said I would put it on the forum as an interest point. Cheers Maynard
  15. I agree Pud. My yellow Xair R and T was parked next to my mates Perceptor N3 Pup (2 cyl vw R and T). We onlt travel at 60kts cruise but give us the fuel and we will match any distance you can fly (it will just take us longer.) For example, I left Temora on Sunday morning, headed for Inverell. Then to Armidale where I am at present and will return to Goulburn on Saturday, weather gods willing. Total air time 15 hrs. Trailer the aircraft to Temora, I dont think so. Heon, I dont even need water to land. I agree with others on the forum, I enjoyed the flyin, didn't go on Saturday night as I did it last year and a little of that went a long way. Food court was good but could have used a little more tweeking. Bar service was excellent. The train around the site could have used springs in the carriages as back damage was a very real thing for those in the rear seats. Very disappointed in Raa Aus management and some board members. (other board members did make a good appearance) No high profile at what is, after all, the premier Raa aus event of the year. Given the problems that Cazza has had with the Raa Aus upper management and their political agendas, why dont we appoint the CEO to bust his butt and organise next years event to the same high that the people who actualy work at the coalface and not the office bar fridge, can acheive. Great to catch upwith a lot of the members of this forum and put faces to names on Friday morning. I thought the air display was great and more would be a good thing. Rag and tube rocks!!! Enough of my rant for now:ranting: Maynard
  16. Give wade a ring, he is still very much in business and the delivery, and prices are still brilliant. Bought some exhaust springs off him that arrived yesterday. Cheers Maynard
  17. If the airbubbles are only small, they will settle out in the bowl of the carby, no problems. ISharp bends in the lines, restrictyions etc will generate small bubbles but these aren;t a problem (at least I have found this). The large bubble (like an inch or so of line, would concern me greatly, but small bubbles, if not caused by holes or leaks in the fuel system are fairly normal for pumped fuel. Just my 0.2c worth (do not take this as gospel, check before actioning.) Cheers Maynard
  18. Wade MAHLO at Wade air in orange has the overhaul kits , I have used them myself. ( I have no association with Wade air.) Cheers Maynard
  19. I have a current exemption to fly over built up areas from RAA Aus. I have a rotax 582 that was specified in the request to RAA Aus. Cheers Maynard
  20. So don't buy the thing, at least the seller is up front about it. Still a really good price if you ask me. Cheers Maynard
  21. There's nothing wrong with a bit of self promotion for such an important thing as a published, and flown first solo. Congratulations. Send the article to both then if one doesn't publish, the other may and you are covering both bases. Again, well done and enjoy the freedom you have gained.
  22. There is fuel (aerorefuellers card) at Corowa.
