1. it was a very good opportunity for the apprentice comedians .................. though
2. good landing ................ excellent rudder control ........................... considering
3. Not to familiar with all this regulatory stuff but Maj raises some redeeming points about RAA .................... the following has liberal lashings of optomism: - perhaps RAA is good at what it does - positive outlook - hog tied membership - effective registration (a lot will burr up re rego) etc etc - perhaps we undervalue RAA and what it achieves - perhaps this should be reinforced more when dealing with CASA - perhaps CASA knows this anyway (in for a penny, in for a pound ............... type of thing) - perhaps RAA is in a good place to negotiate a better position with CASA
4. Yes Dr Zoos everything seems to be for sale ..................... and probably there are not many buying. Its all relative though - you sell your asset for not much and hopefully you buy something else for not much it would be an interesting statistic if RAA could publish the 'change of ownership thru sale' numbers (maybe even type as well) I'd say (me speaking here) one of the most fundamental things you need to confirm before you buy a plane is if you can afford it - its easy to say in the short term its affordable but you need to look at the say 6 to 12 year ?? period If you can hang on to it .......................... up to and past this point I'd be guessing the plane is affordable and you can afford it ?
5. good looking tecnam P92 for sale $ 30k - ono ..................... year 1994 ? - 400 hours .......... have to go to Cambodia to get it though
6. good disections Sue and turbo I still find it strange that 2 year time frames for any subs / regos are considered to be to complex or can't be accounted for ..................... my mind is its half the workload so costs should decrease (considerably) half the workload could be relevant to RAA in that they can spend more time doing other things - rather than the annual treadmill
7. you create the impression you know the mechanisms of RAA turbo planner ....... thats always encouraging you touch on the subject of 2 year rego and any paper income shortfall was not a problem - it was costs that were the problem what was then the philosophy from going from 2 years rego back to 1 year ................ then ? (any ideas ?)
8. sorry thirsty .......................... should have said excluding all pokeawallabies (jabirus)
9. agreeance - sort of - to the all above but keep out class distinction ............. we all fly little, lighter than air planes - GA & P51 pilots must snigger when we think we can chop our modest fleet into classes ............... also don't forget the concept of extending rego to 2 years - this must surely be an 'administrative' saving that can / must be considered by RAA - when RAA get all rego's up to speed
10. It would of been interesting if RAA had of decreased their fees ..................... the comments in this forum would then have been also interesting to read (and no doubt every comment would not have been positive) .................. having said that all bureaucracies (and monopolies) seem to have this insatiable need for money and any price increase is only a minor anoouncement or letter away - usually their % age cost increase bears no relevance to the state of the economy or the cost of living I've always thought these organisations and their required fee increases are one of the 'pillar stones' of gauranteed inflation in the community and it's comforting to see that RAA is toeing the line with the rest of 'em
11. whoops i should have said I took this photo 2.30 pm 18.9.13 (not 13.9.13) - so he might have flown in from C Towers berniegh ?
12. worth a snap - fueling - I was on peasant side of fence - it took off about 3.00 pm going somewhere
13. ............. you'd feel like running up in front of the ruskie and throwing spuds (or frozen chickens) in the inlets
14. Compulsion ....... you are putting a lot of trust in one TV controller mate
15. ............ true maj - but if your passenger ever turns out to be an axe muderer I don't spose any breifing will assist (unless you advise that axe is to be left on ground)
16. I took a passenger up .................... and during a cruise portion of the flight 'the ball' was way over to one side ................... I quietly suggested to the passemger it would probably be a good idea if they removed their foot from one of the rudder pedals In hindsight the passenger was tense and had braced one leg - the end of that leg was a foot and a rudder pedal
17. ................ interesting andy and maj - if I could be so bold as to say i reckon you are both 1 all - that's a draw .............. the australian cricket team would be happy with that what skills are the board specifically looking for - is there that many ? I can see IT being one ............... but if I was a qualified gardener surely I'm not going to canberra to mow the lawns Andy - was there a discussion about what specific skills were to be attracted / required ?
18. FH - sorry I am no mechanic - what setting dodge hydraulic locking - do they have decompression thingy ?
19. I thought first morning start - a radial motor had to be pulled through to get rid of any oil in bottom cylinders - to stop hydraulic shock ? .................. or was that for compression ? I can understand this is possible for a DHC2 beaver with wheels but what about a float plane - what about big radials ........ worse still a Mars or a Sunderland ..................... whats the answer aviators ?
20. Confucious say 'I am philosopher - not pilot'
21. Confuscious say: 'Sticks and stones will break my bones ............ but whips and chains excite me'
22. Those new production tools - they called them 'women' - were used quiet extensively in that factory There seemed to be quiet a number and .................. the factory appeared to be having no problems with them
23. this is cynical but I think Farri makes a conclusive statement: 'what's the point ................. ' I have always thought it would even be 'immediately' safer if someone was carrying a bomb that it was not discovered because if you are waiting in the pens for flight .............. there could a bloody big fire cracker going off any time soon
24. Eat some of those Phil ............... tell us what happens !
25. Interstingly on the ABC there was a person interviewed - this person did not have a defined gender at birth - he had lived life as both sexes (now aged about 40) - this is the position that some find themselves in - in some cases not their choice he was selected at customs for a drug search (I don't know if cavities were involved (we all have cavities)) ........................ any way into the room with luggage he went and a strip search was done - after this was finalised he stated he was allowed to leave - WITHOUT THE LUGGAGE BEING SEARCHED ...................... he concluded that customs appeared more interested in the strip search than anything else:crazy:
