  3. none have ISIC cards
  4. sounds low at the threshold - probably a peripheral digger or a digger from a blind spot
  5. I always find it a hoot that each time you get a new card you have to prove who you are ..................... this logic infers that your existing card is not satisfactory evidence to confirm that you are ................... you in other words the legislator does not even recognise their own card as satisfactory ID which then implies to me that even the legislator considers them worthless
  6. the following is advice from a pilot - not an instructor - you must speak to your instructor .................. with instructor (and the stalls) fly around slow with a notch of flap (if you have flaps) - there is no harm in this - it is good approach and fly down the strip in this configuration and see what that feels like (if the instructor is not breaking any rules of course)
  7. thats what we want to know about HITC - thanks
  8. I have no need to defend media outlets or journalists GG & FH ........ if the person that created this thread (hhelgesen) was a journalist you might be kicked out of the 'flat earth society !'
  9. Don't know much about them strange whirly things ............ so in the interests of a ding dong are there any helicopter pilots out there that would refute either or both statement a) & b) a) If the wings are travelling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter - and therefore unsafe b) If something hasn't broken on your helicopter, it's about to
  10. Be objective ................ you (some) can't generalise and imply ALL media outlets and journalists are unreliable If any think that ................ you should join the 'flat earth society'
  11. Confuscious say: rules & regs - forgiveness can sometimes be easier to obtain than permission rules & regs - it would not be nearly so complicated if there was no money involved
  12. Yes KG - in Qld the rule was where you had town water your new house had to have a 5000 ltr tank for toilets and laundry I think it was for energy efficiency and also to remove some 'peak' load from reticulated water supplies This rule stayed in effect for say 2 or 3 years and now has been repealed So if you build a new house now - this requirement is now not required or built (this might not be fso or some Councils) You probably can now plumb your toilet and laundry back to town water - get rid of the pump ................. no questions asked ............. I'd guess
  13. Hello Keith, He is my answers Cairns is further west than Charlevillew .......................... I'm gunna establich the veracity of that statement Daz - using a map of oz

  15. Bruce .................... waiting for you to take centre stage for some info when it's sorted - assuming there is lots of activity in the wings !
  16. wikipedia says Skyfox Gazelle was introdiced 1989 ......... using a published building construction index (probably not that appropriate !) if you had $ 127 in 1989 then that would be worth $ 271 271 / 127 = 2.13 $ 72 k x 2.13 = $ 153 k .............. crikey - give or take a few bob
  17. if you search the newspaper articles you will read that the chopper pilot and the rigger were looking at each other and each was in difficulty trying to communicate what should be done (can't recall about radio com) - what was done was argued in some sort of forum / hearing My GUESS would be: I don't think the pilot or the rigger thought it through ................ I'd guess if the pilot has his time again then he would of flown above the lift so that the cable was tight and then released ? ..................... probably would have been less damage - if anything at all
  18. ------------ it's a bit more complicated than that you can read the report (think this is it) ..................... its in NZ language - hope this link does the trick: http://www.caa.govt.nz/Accidents_and_Incidents/Accident_Reports/zk-hig_final_rep.pdf
  19. ................. the plane swooped and hit a large airpocket - the engine subsequently stalled, the occupants exited the plane and a controlled crash landing was initiated - it was badly damaged but doctors at the hospital said they would be OK. The plane was badly beaten but an eyewitness said the plane is now parked by a repair shop. Foam was used in the incident and the repair shop said this damage was superficial and caused minor damage
  20. if you own a 162 you might as well make the most of it I'd like to hear a 162 owner discuss its merits - after alll many purchased them so there must be some appeal lurking in that airframe

  25. noise and Caloundra - issues all been heard before (probably no worse than a main highway) there was something on the radio this morning (30.1.14) but missed it - helicopter training I think ...................... don't know much about Caloundra - anyway a rumble in the jungle Choppers could buzz Caloundra 127 times a day in new plan Comments (18) » Kathy Sundstrom 17th Oct 2012 5:43 AM Updated: 2:31 PM Story Tools Use this content Related Items » Council says no to urban sprawl as govt row looms » Neighbourly airport makes a move to cut down on noise .articleImage.small { clear: both; width: 300px !important; float: left; } .articleImage.right { float: right; margin: 0 0 20px 20px !important; } .articleImage.large { width: 620px !important; } bellhelicopter.com THE drone of a helicopter 127 times a day, 330 days a year, could become a reality for residents living near Caloundra Aerodrome. The council has released a draft master plan for the 145-ha site. It includes increasing the size of the Queensland Air Museum, creating a new parking and viewing area, and boosting industry with a potential non-aviation commercial development. But there is also the startling reality of noise. The council predicts the number of air movements at the aerodrome will increase from 40,000 to a "medium estimate" of 84,000 by 2030. Noise modelling assumptions estimate this could mean 254 movements a day, 330 flying days a year. Half of these movements are expected to be helicopter operations and 80% of movements are circuits. It is understood the sound level affecting many homes could be above 60 decibels, loud enough to interrupt a conversation. Some residents could expect this to happen up to 20 times a day. Little wonder Cr Tim Dwyer suggested last month Caloundra South be renamed the Caloundra Aerodrome Estate "so they can't complain they didn't know there was an aerodrome there". "This development was strenuously objected to by the council. "However approval was subsequently granted by the Queensland Government in 2011," the draft master plan reads. The council proposes to develop a helipad at the aerodrome within five years. The council document says the increased helicopter training activity "presents additional challenges for residents of the recently approved development of Bells Reach". "Residents of this development will be seriously impacted by current and future aircraft noise," it warns. Bellvista Community Association president Les Thomas was unaware of plans to increase helicopter movements. He said the council would face a backlash from 50,000 residents if it allowed significant increases. Divisional Councillor Rick Baberowski said he would not support increasing helicopter movements to such an extent. The draft can be viewed online at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or at council offices or libraries. MODELLING ASSUMPTIONS 84,000 aircraft movements per year Helicopter operations are 50% of all movements by 2030 330 flying days per year 254 movements per day 80% of movements are circuits
