Works really well . Thick white smoke ,no residue,

only smells a little bit rank.

Tim, can you give us a description of your system....are you just pumping it into the exhaust outlet pipe, like they do on ag planes ?..

The oil used for farm spraying is the most innocuous. Trans oils contain stuff you shouldn't foul the air with. Nev

Hope you let ford know? My old ed still smokes better than the plane on a good day.. 008_roflmao.gif.692a1fa1bc264885482c2a384583e343.gif

Seriously , the recommended fluids in no particular order are.

From aerobatic pilots (4 st eng) =

Manufactured smoke oil( mineral oil + parifon oil)

Same as above but home made

Diesel + kerosene mix

Transmission fluid

Transmission + diesel mix

Diesel

Pesticide( summer oil)

From ultralight and micro light pilots (2st eng)

Manufactured smoke oil

As above but home made

Concrete form oil

Pesticide( summer oil)

Transmission fluid

Feel free to add what I missed

What I have tested

Pesticide ( summer oil) thumbs down expensive- burn very quick -$25 3 Ltrs burn 1 min

Super dry aviation smoke oil. Better , but very expensive , burned slower-$55 -3 Ltrs burm 3 min

Trany flyid. Cheapest ( free)same smoke thickness as " super dry" burns slowest - $0 (have plenty in stock for the ford trans and commy power steer lol). 3 Ltrs burn over 5 mins

Smoke is alway released above 1000 ft after a wing waggle followed by a medium 360 deg turn to form( attempt) a circle. Then wing waggle and fly out. And never descend during or after .. As per aerobatic champion advice.

And also found that most say to use the smoke system on final to be seen? I find this odd? Imagine seeing a plane on final , engine revs drop and smoke pours from engine!037_yikes.gif.f44636559f7f2c4c52637b7ff2322907.gif

Also in direct communication with. Dick Starks( K.C Dawn patrol) Nieuport 11 builders and flying display. Dick recommends concrete form oil but proving difficult to find.
