bexrbetter
For those interested, have been moving to another factory, hence silence. But designing at night. 3

bexrbetter
Is that a good thing? Well usually you should design something first, beats just throwing a bunch of stuff together.
onetrack
So .. does this mean, the design should now be renamed, "The Midnight Design Special"? Let's hope the components are not being sourced from "Midnight Spares".

Pilot Pete
I was told once that the sun shone from my ass. I could hire myself out as a lamp for the cost of an air ticket and a veggiemite sandwich.

Yes I know what you meant, I was been intentionally obtuse Large factory for free for a few years courtesy of the Local government. It doesn't leak, have been cleaning it out for a few days. Note the broom, group of branches tied together, they grow them for the purpose, they work surprisingly well. 5

onetrack
I trust the new shed resembles this, in dimensions? .... You don't want to run yourself short on working area - and you just know, that every shed you end up in, is always just a whisker too small ....

When you get to the junction do you squeeze through the rung to keep going, or do you go up the outside hanging by your hands?
Downunder
Ok, So the advantages of the gullwing are? Higher wing tips for those gusty days on landing? Shorter (meaning stronger) landing gear? Improves the compactness with wings folded?
onetrack
Large factory for free for a few years courtesy of the Local government. :drool:Complete with overhead travelling crane??? O.K. Just let us know, what the compensation agreements are, that are part of getting this deal?? (parts of post removed - Mod) I mean to say ... a FEW YEARS ... for FREE?? I think I can now begin to understand why you're operating out of China. I've heard of the number of Chinese "ghost cities" - but I had no idea that also included ghost factories. The local boat builders tried to score an Austral Fisheries boat-building contract. They wanted rent relief from the State Govt, for the area of industrial land they intended to expand onto - a miserable AU$4.9M in rent forgone over 5 years. The State Govt refused. The contract went to Madagascar instead. No wonder we don't make anything here any more.

There is supposed to be aero advantages, I don't believe that at this level of build just as long as there's no disadvantages. I tried to take some pictures today of the proto trial fitment but the sun was so darn bright I couldn't see the phone's screen properly so you get what you get ... 5 1
onetrack
How many joins in that wing section, Bex? How are the joins made? Doesn't every added join weaken the member? Isn't it better to have one complete, untouched member for the section, for strength? Most importantly, we can't see how the flapping mechanism actually operates.
pylon500
I guess the 'gull wing' gives you that bit of being different, but a structure still needs to be 'arranged' correctly. To that end, the inner lightening holes are in the wrong place. Usually they would run along the centreline of the beam, as that is the neutral point along the shear plane. Technically, as sheet structures will resist tensile loads better than compressive loads, the lightening holes would more correctly taper down towards the lower cap, keeping more material in the compressive area of the shear web. Just saying...
