Pacific Flyer Monthly Photo Competition - June 2009
slartibartfast replied to tecnam2003's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
How about this one then? I didn't take it obviously. -
Human Factors study or training guide?

High-rise window washer or rigger (can I have 2 guesses?). -
Took the wife up for her first flight with me.
slartibartfast replied to a topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
You're a lucky man Brett. My wife still hasn't been flying with me. Thanks for the photos. That's a very pretty bit of coastline. I've ridden it lots, but never flown there. On a side note, it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful women often end up with ugly men:laugh: -
Hi. I've got one of these on my Jab 2200 powered Cheetah. I have one of these fitted. I didn't do the installation, so not sure how it was done. Drill the body of the Bing and tap it I believe. I can ring the installer tomorrow. I don't have a photo of my installation, but I can get one if you like. There's a photo and some info here from someone else. There's some instructions from the manufacturer here.

Must have been a great trip Geoff. Any more pics? Welcome back.

May competition closed That's it for our first month. I'll get Angela, the Pacific Flyer editor, to judge all the entries (except mine) and announce a winner. There's a new thread for June, so if you don't win this time, get an entry in there. I moved 3 posts from this thread to the new June competition thread, because they were made in June and I was a bit slow getting it started.

Pacific Flyer Monthly Photo Competition - June 2009

We're off with a new month for you to post your best photo for a chance to win a 6 month subscription to Pacific Flyer magazine. Go for it. Note: the above 3 posts were moved from the May competition thread. -
Actually, I was really complimenting his writing - using a Homerism. As for your French, I have decided that given your English, you must be using Babelfish for the French
-
Good stuff Gomer. Thanks for sharing. You English write good. Ross

Hi J. Check this forum for lots of info, and especially this thread about my experience with mine. I have over 150 hours on her now, and still love it. The tail is not a bit loose. Cheers, Ross

It needs to be a Revision P model. Check on the side plate, or look in the program menu setup. Turn the unit on while holding the mode switch down. When startup is finished, you should see "Program Menu" on the display. Use the frequency adjust knob to scroll through the menu items. If you see "Monitor" as an option, you have the dual frequency monitor version. If so, when you try to go into dual monitor mode, a signal being received on the first frequency (active) will prevent the unit scanning the second (stand-by) frequency. Look for an R next to the freq on the display. If a T is shown instead, you are transmitting. Monitor mode is entered by holding down the remote memory button (if fitted) or the toggle switch (freq adjust) for 3 seconds.

New Database of 1465 airfields + all VFR Waypoints

Hi Bob. I just tried it and it opened without error. Have another go. -
You two aren't fooling anyone you know. Apart from young Tomo obviously. Welcome aboard.

Hi Linda. I like to track from Talbingo to Adaminaby, then Cooma. That's about the least tiger country. The ground comes to meet you though, and I like to climb to 9500 feet to give the most options. Just keep the 8500 Class C step on your left. Check it on the map - you can follow the waterways or the highway. From your way, it's also not too bad if you short-cut via Tumbarumba and Cabramurra. We can't stick to 5000' around here - they haven't built that fly-through toll tunnel yet. Cooma itself is surrounded by open high plain country. No dramas there. When are you coming? Ross

They always said that when a black man becomes president of the USofA, pigs will fly. Sure enough, 100 days into Obama's presidency, swine flu.

Have a look through the instructions here Crisso.

Pilots without transponders....... scary stuff
slartibartfast replied to a topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Actually Tubz - that was a joke. You guys are so serious. Alright - serious it is. I agree that a transponder might enhance safety to some extent at airports like that, but I don't believe they should be mandatory. Ours is a movement struggling to stay minimal. If we start advocating mandatory equipment, we'll get it faster than you can say "ffft". If you believe it can enhance your particular flying environment, get one and turn it on. I'm quite happy, when flying through Canberra's valley for example, to let Approach know my details, location and intentions. If they ask me to squawk, I say "nil xponder" (it's quicker to say with an "x"), repeat my intention to remain OCTA, and everyone is happy. If I decide I want CTA when we can, I'll get one. (thank you Cybil Fawlty - special subject "the bleeding obvious"). Cheers, Ross -

Couldn't the radio still suffice at Busselton? "Cheetah 5151 joining crosswind for 21 and I have the Fokker in sight." -
Yes. Nice try though Rob.

My guess is that it was the DC-4E (E for experimental) DC-4 prototype.
