1. Mic and Merv - could both of you take it back a peg on the aggro scale please. Discuss with civility and respect. Sniping adds no value to the discussion for the rest of us. Thanks, Ross
2. I can't see the link to Aero-V in this thread, so here it is.
3. Oooh - green:blush: Sorry - haven't seen much greenery lately. Welcome Mike.
4. At this stage Matt, I won't be able to make it due to weather. It looks horrible. Anything you can do?
5. Umm ... XF-84H Thuderscreech? Next time Doug, can you change the name of the image file so the clue is a little less obvious? Next.
6. Thanks for the photos Doug. Looks like an interesting day. A little sad too. The missing man formation was a nice tribute.
7. I think you'll find that's a Cozy Tomo - hence the rego. They are a derivative of Burt Rutan's Vari-Eze and Long-Eze. Sorry Geoff, haven't had time until now. That was a really good day. Well done Mudgee guys. Garry Morgan couldn't turn up (someone said he dropped the trailer on his foot while leaving Narromine - I haven't talked to him all week), so I put mine on display and talked to a lot of people, and watched anxiously as a thousand children poked and fingered the fabric and turned the prop. Hard to catch them all, but it flew home well, so must be alright. I ran out of brochures too - it was very popular. Much thanks to Geoff for watching it while I went for a bite. Most of these photos are from the thumbnail image - I haven't converted the raw images yet. The sound of this Grumman Avenger was absolutely awesome. I love big radials. There were people all over the Cheetah. The Captain we all know and love admiring the Avenger as it dwarfs his Jab Pitts special doing its thing I didn't have the shutter speed right unfortunately, but still worth a look as the Pitts cuts the ribbon. After the announcer played it up for a while (can the owner of Volvo ABC321 please move your car!) this heli picked up the Volvo and dropped it from a great height - much to the appreciation of the crowd. I missed shooting it though. There's a pic later of the remains. Paul Andronicou gave another great display. He considered giving the game away after Tom and Pip went in. He's back into it though, and came second again at the recent championships. He lost to a Pitt's much to his annoyance. Maybe the prettiest Jab I've seen (like putting lipstick on a pig?) The R44 was kept busy giving rides all day. There were a lot of interesting cars. Lots of traffic in the morning, and all fitted well together. Someone told me my landing was the best for the morning. I must be improving. Great to catch up with Geoff - looks like I won't see you on the weekend after all. The Echuca curse looks like striking again. Organize an aviation event there, and you're guaranteed to have rain. Thanks again to the Mudgee WW&W organizers. I'll be back.
8. Straight back Geoff. Got a birthday party to go to. Arrival time depends on when the usual Goulburn fog lets me out. See you there.
9. I took a chance on going into brownie points deficit. I'll be there tomorrow. Anyone else?
10. Way to go Mikey. Congratulations. Your shout.
11. Olympus e510 skydog. Just the Olympus 14-42 lens. Didn't get the zoom lens out. Nice shots Dave. Great to catch up with you and Fred again.
12. There have been a number of threads (like this one) where people have asked for places to go and many have contributed. I'll have to collate them all into a sticky somewhere. It would be a great resource to all. Possibly go the next step as Chris suggested and provide a template. We'll look into it. Ross
13. Aw shucks...thanks guys. I expected a storm (aviation collective noun) of photos. Where are they all?
14. Good news Linda. There was a lot of dark stuff around to the south and west, I wasn't sure everyone would get through there. I had to go a fair way east and then go under all the low stuff and track SW back to Goulburn quite low. Some fun scud running. Hope to see you at Echuca. Cheers, Ross
15. Seems like a good place to put mine. Thanks Rob - did I say hi to you? I don't remember seeing you. If not - sorry. I got home today after being first in line for fuel at 6am, then waiting until 9 for the council to come out and restore power to the bowser and swipe machine. Garry brought me breakfast to eat while in line. Had to divert to Bathurst and flew there on top, then went under the rest of the way - through a little rain here and there but around most of it. Cloud was quite low too. Good fun flying though. Still under 2 hours despite the diversion. 3 Layers of cloud all the way with some magnificent views of Cu's punching through the lot. Great event and caught up with a lot of people, and kept a dry tent. Thanks to all those who said hi. On with the pics. I only got the camera out once after arrival, so not many. This didn't even go close to filling the Cheetah. Thursday was a beautiful day to fly The Morgan stand This tent was popular all weekend Someone was asking about under wing tents? This isn't a bad idea. 16. Geoff has bravely volunteered to be our events coordinator rat, so let's all give him a huge applause and a piece of cheese. Thanks Geoff. We'll never be surprised by an event again - only by whether the weather let's us get home or not. As for Mudgee - I'm hoping to because it's a great event. Not sure if I can generate the brownie points for it though. Natfly this weekend, Mudgee next weekend, and Echuca the one after might be a stretch.
17. It started raining here about 10:00 this morning and it's still going - barely a break. I'm sitting here this evening studying the weather and listening to the sound of rain on the tent - it's been so long I'm actually enjoying it. Still hoping to get home tomorrow. I bought a snorkel for the trip. Met lots of forumers, convinved lots of people to buy Cheetahs, and ate lots of Ian's cold cross buns. It's been a good day by any standards. The outlook for Monday is actually improving (unless you are going to Vic).
18. I caught up with the Capitan briefly today, then whoosh! Like a rat out of a drain pipe. To those who haven't got here yet, come on in - the water's fine. If you get stuck here, you won't be alone. Quite a few forum members here already. Cheers, Ross
19. Great tale Billjim. That's what it's all about. Welcome to the forum.
20. So you're going to be one of those Darren young men in their flying machines? Welcome and enjoy the journey. Ross
21. Bugger. Round we go again. Is there a timeframe for the CAO amendments then?
22. A couple of recent photos, just for fun.
23. Good choice Dave. After Garry, I was the first to fly the Sierra. I gave him a hand here and there building the first one while building my Cheetah. I loved flying it - amazing performance and handling. I don't know of anyone else building one yet. As Decca says, go to Garry first. Welcome to the forum. Ross
24. Prescience is all part of the service (I knew I was going to say that).
