    A good read? Fly long enuf and something like that happens. Airborne 10 POB in a PA31 just on rotation the lower half of the cabin door dropped down/open. I did the usual response, fly the plane, advise ATC then do a control check, all good. BUT there was a disturbing issue not mechanical related but the female pax sitting opposite the now open door was screaming louder than the two Lyc's!? Door fixed, took off again to complete the charter with 4 POB, 3 brave Pax?

    Doubt that anything to do with a control problem, the guy didn't show any control handling checks which most well trained drivers would have, he just panicked. The fast landing I'd due the gear was still up till the last minute and the guy was panicking!

    A long time ago I witnessed a 'hot' arrival of a Mooney in to a grass strip, it was full of local newspapers country NSW. Guy lands down wind Space Shuttle App & promptly runs thru a fence at the end of the strip, he said his engine showed no oil pressure whilst in the circuit yet no mother indications to warrant a crash!?

    Too true! There's a great YT vid of two guys coming in to land in a TB20 with the gear warning nown blaring away the whole time, they touched down gear up and looked at each other dumbfounded!

    The airspace is not closed. If you have current M/R in force then your A/C needs to be kept airworthy which would mean the engine is to be kept in serviceable condition, IE operated. I flew right thru the last debacle! Stay within the state of Victoria (the leper colony). If stores like Bunnings and other non essential retail stores are allowed open then the 4 reasons to leave home are a joke! You can now play golf, fish etc, the fools this time realised that some activities are extreme low risk!

    I could never understand the bogey-man hysteria about running engines on reg gas? Plenty of Lyc/Conty's are running on bogey-man gas??

    Risky contraptions. I always wanted to drive Helo's but when I got involved in A/C maint I soon changed my mind! RIP, sudden death is traumatic for so many left behind!?

    Spot on! The normal annual will not find such corrosion hence I had my tanks pulled! It's a well known problem in Pipers just like the now worrying spars on the cantilevered Cessnas.

    I think the bigger issue here is whilst flying along in yr PAxx knowing there is an issue with spars of the type in general is I wonder what my spar condition is like?? The second plane I ever bought was a PA28-140 but before I handed over the $$$$ I had the tanks removed and the interior gutted, cost me a few dollars but I sleep better at night!

    Oh I wonder what the beeping sound is the driver was thinking as he suddenly realises he was about to join the gear up club!? Talk about a space shuttle arrival! Just goes to show the panic that set in and he near forgot to fly the plane!

    There a few EFIS system displays for yr Mob PH or tablet via the App Store, I have one on the Mob PH and Tablet just in case the zillion to one chance that the cockpits I was flying in went blank at night out over the Pacific! Obviously not to be used in anger but a free 'get-out-of-jail' card if you killed a Chinaman!

    200 HP whether being produced by an Otto cycle or a squirrel cage with a 1000 large rats in it or a fancy turbine is still 200HP going to the prop. The trick is how much squirrel food do you need to feed it to get that 200HP??? I used to enjoy the reliability of the turbines I operated but was glad I wasn't paying for them!?

    I'd say it's not done as a lot of RA machines don't have any inst to ref in IMC where as a lot of cert GA did/have.
