  1. Yes it is, but you don't need to know flame propagation and the physics of the drag coefficient of over 50 weight oil on cross hatching and ring scraping action to know how to increase throttle to get higher revs. Do the complete training and know your aircraft. Low level handling should be part of every-bodies training, RAA and GA, including downwind turns.
  2. Aircraft on conveyor belt, no matter how fast the wheels go round, propeller producing thrust, if there is no airflow over wing = Aircraft no fly. Can't put it any simpler.
  3. Stop it, there you go thinking again................................................................Just fly the aircraft
  4. Then we don't need wings to fly just a conveyor belt? If there is no airflow over the wing the aircraft will not fly, no if's buts or maybe's.
  5. AND don't write up snags unless you want to be unemployed
  6. ? Bit like a journey, the destination is important but there's a lot to see and do on the way.
  7. Yes, similar to a Merlin. The PC9 installation is flat rated back to 900(shp) I think. You get what you pay for, big HP, big fuel flow. The 802 has the same engine but most now have a PT6-67 F which is rated to 1700 SHP, is nice to have when you need it.
  8. Not sure how they achieved those figures, a PT6-67 uses 80 litres an hour fuel flow at idle!
  9. Even if they were tip top condition they would be very expensive to operate. Cruise fuel flow of 300 litres plus.
  10. The likes of Indonesia with it's 70% smoking rates of males and non existent health system will take a big hit.
  11. We all make mistakes Nev, once I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken ?
  12. Hippy, Hyperlight derivative with a tail made to look Stagerwingish. Many moons ago there was a bloke in Box Hill Melbourne had a design looked exactly the same, might have been built from aluminium. Edit: Looked up Hyperlight and came up with Sorrel
  13. 180's/185's did a lot of work, most have lots of hours on them now
  14. I had lined up a job in the Northern hemisphere for our winter, unless things change drastically over the next month I'll be hunkering down in the Homeshed.
  15. You take too much too seriously Turbo, cut a bit of slack for some throw away lines ? The foreign students are a worry at times, with unintelligible calls and questionable circuit procedure's. On the other hand they are learning a new complex career in a foreign country with a second language, must be very difficult so I try to cut them some slack. I do blame some of their instructors for bad habits. They always join "Midfield crosswind" no matter where they are in the the circuit or inbound. Lighten up Turbo
  16. Photo of painting doesn't really do it justice
  17. Best to avoid parachute ops anywhere, law unto themselves.
  18. If you pay a lot more for one of those good Chinese ones, the difference is night and day
  19. Have yoo thought of a drone Spaceman? I didn't fly for a while and it was the next best thing to actually being in the aircraft
  20. Depends your interpretation of "Good work". I read somewhere today they have stopped operations for a while, dunnooo how those natives will get on without the latest bible delivered.
  21. True enough but...............................................it has been said a lot, a device to stymie any criticism. You keep saying it and it becomes a cry wolf situation. Look at the North American model of how not to tell the truth and use everything for your own (And your mates) monitory reward..............now is not the time to criticize/for the good of the nation/don't listen to them it's fake news. At least our federal opposition are working with the government in a bipartisan way.
  22. Casa working towards that, have been for years
