  1. Sonex cruise 100-130 kts (depending on engine) VNe 171 Kts
  2. I'd be checking Qantas Flight Status page.. quite a few from Melbourne are showing delayed status http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/flight-status/global/en
  3. Yep, my spatted Sonex does it continuously, I can set the brake lever behind the flap lever to apply park brake inflight. (Flap lever won't operate if I forget downwind check, and I rarely perform flapless approach but there is always the potential of course to land park brake on.. )
  4. Not getting pissy, but... applying flaps turning crosswind??
  5. No you can go to another school if the current one isn't working out or you need to relocate, and take your logbook, its yours. Student records/progress notes might be a different matter but when I relocated interstate I had my old school mail my records to my new school, to maintain provenance so to speak.
  6. I dunno Ozzie, from the early AUF days prior to Horscotts I seem remember the figure of 40 deaths in one year..(?edit: mmm might have been the total at that time) but my memory could be fooling me
  7. Own design, unashamedly based on Steve Cohen's Thruster, Stolaero and Condor designs but with a 28' ClarkY wing, spruce spars, klegecell ribs 1.8oz Dacron covering. A venerable Robin 440 twin carb, CDI, belt drive. Later upgraded with a Rotax 503 gearbox after losing prop, hub and belts inflight. Last flew 2005. Originally a 50KT machine but alloy fairings over the wingstruts increased cruise to a mighty 60KTS. Stall was about 28KTS. Additional tank between engine and windscreen increased endurance to 1 whole hour. The Jack Flyer story resonates strong in me lol Still have it stored in its trailer awaiting refurbishment... maybe.. if mice haven't eaten everything . Sunrise Truro Flats 2005 Carport workshop.. 1985-86
  8. Seriously, I would have thought a lot of the endorsements would cover any of the single seat aircraft. i.e. If you were buying a Supapup and you had 2 seat tailwheel time, you should be fine. A 2 stroke endorsement might be a sticky if its still required.
  9. ..and one look at the Thruster glasshouse convinced me I'd be better off in mine..
  10. Im still here , although I did have an RPPL so its not all bad
  11. Back in the old days, not only did we design and build single seat aircraft... we test flew them and learned how to fly them all at the same time.. This is one I built in my carport at Raymond Terrace NSW circa 1987.
  12. Sorry I missed it. Was going to fly in and back out Saturday but the weather looked too pookie for the return trip. By 3pm it was raining in Strathalbyn. Next time!
  13. I'll let someone else have a go.. don't want to win all the time
  14. Was it a Moya or Moyra.. ? I remember seeing it in an early AUF mag but cant be sure of the name
  15. Looking through some Facebook photos of the airshow.. I noted an uncanny resemblance [GALLERY=media, 3447]DIstant Cousins? by aj_richo posted Apr 14, 2015 at 1:30 PM[/GALLERY]
  16. PS CASA had a presence of at least one in his embroided blue check shirt, but at least he left us alone
  17. Hi Tim, Really enjoyed your display... yes was a very nice landing with plenty of room to spare. Didn't get video though Sorry I didn't catch up with you on the day.. one minute you were nearby next minute you'd vanished lol I departed straight after you, nice touch with the smoke on The Nieuport looks great air to air too.
  18. I used to think B&S engines were bullet proof... until the big-end of the alloy conrod broke in half on my ride-on mower. Regular oil changes, air filter changes.. mechanic could not give a reason for failure.
  19. Sonex panel with D180. Backup ASI and Oil pressure on far LH side My panel drops down on a hinge at the bottom, that and nutplates behind also reduces the realestate. I wouldn't bother hinging it again if I built another. D180, ASI have to come out to lower it.
  20. Do you have the standard Sonex panel arrangement? What you can fit will determine what you end up with. I believe the 10" Skyview wont fit in the standard arrangement without modification. I made my panel more upright and fitted the Dynon D180. The Skyview wasn't available when I bought it. I have the MGL v6 radio. In any event both EFIS and EMS functions were important to me. I'd probably go MGL if I were making the decision again today.
  21. Mmm.. wiki says its a hoax http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cough_CPR American Heart Association has some info where it might be used.. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/Conditions/More/CardiacArrest/Cough-CPR_UCM_432380_Article.jsp
  22. Not sure about that wound around the midriff.. I'd be painting that first
