  1. Thanks Phil. I looked Waglett up, seems good but is a bit far from Comeroo. I am going to try organise drum fuel at Comeroo.
  2. I fly one of the two SportStar's at Redcliffe. There is a Tecnam school there too, and the areo club has a Tecnam that is GA. I love the SportStar, two years I've hired it and no hassles, it flies easily, fairly sensitive to the touch as I think many RAA aircraft are, but is fast in the cruise and slow to land, takes off in nothing, in and out of grass strips with no hassle. It gets hot in the taxi so you prop open the canopy with your elbow. But you have awesome visibility. And it looks sexy. It's well finished, large inside, and I think is better tha flying a 172 if it's just two of you. Ryan
  3. Hi My long saved for trip to the Comeroo Camel Station is now taking shape. Plane booked, money saved, accomodation sorted. I am going from Redcliffe to Goondiwindi and refueling, then along the dingo fence to Comeroo. But when I get there I will need fuel. Bourke has fuel, but is a security controlled AD. St George has no fuel, and I can't find anything else around there. I have seen posts on this forum talking about fuel a Bourke. Is there any way to get it without an ASIC? Cheers Ryan
  4. Well it will be replied Mavis, because I've just worked out why the elastic was all stretched on my best pair of french knickers, and so you better not...
  5. Im on my way back from Sun n Fun on Monday. I looked at the Temora weather forecast and it says rain over the Natfly Saturday and Sunday. How is the weather generally at the moment?
  6. Yes i got an email from an Albert Wirts, saying he had an illness and had to sell, and also to put into an account, 7 days return.
  7. I learned on a grass strip, and what it taught me was that I wasn't straight at all! My solo cross country was to a narrow runway with a line on it and I had to go around three times before I could line it up! That line is at least something to measure yourself against. Ryan
  8. It may have ended as someone offered him what he wanted. I emailed him days ago about it and he never replied. If he wanted to sell he would have replied.
  9. Never anyone in there. I am starting to feel like an outcast! Has something replaced it? Ryan
  10. I'm booked to fly next Saturday (17th) at 8am, so can come over from Redcliffe if you like. Or meet there. PM me if you want. Also, why not consider, if he is willing to pay, an actual adventure flight from one of the companies that can take him over the Story Bridge etc? Cheers Ryan
  11. Today I did a greaser, I swear I had run along the ground for a few seconds before I realised I was actually on the ground. I was so happy as I knew the guy who taught me to fly was watching. Until I got to the hangar and saw he had gone home. And the passenger didn't seem to think it was anything special, but last time I took her it was a thumper in bad wind and she thought it was good. And that was after I had to go around I couldn't keep it straight. You can't please anyone!
  12. I find getting the nose up just a little more than I think it should be in the flare actually slows me down enough to land softly. Get the instructor to sit you in the plane and push the tail down till it's the attitude you should see when you land. Then learn to land taking into account all the othe factors that change the attitude.
  13. That is a huge improvement.
  14. I am going to stop at Gunnedah on the way there and back. All the email I have had with the people there indicates that they are a very friendly bunch and conviniently located exactly on my track down, and I think I should give them some support. And if I can get a coffee too all the more so! To quote Bender, "it gonna be fun on a bun!" Ryan
  15. Hey Gareth, where are you training?
  16. And ignore people who laugh at you for being loud. I know people who laugh and tell you that you are making a noise, but you are doing it for a reason. It startles people even if they don't know what it means, and they become aware that there is an aircraft about to do something.
  17. First of all don't ask for advice here, as few have any actual experience with this type of thing. Second, don't act like the typical out of control back packer. Third, think! Go to the consulate. Don't go to the cops. When I was working in one of the countries that you expect this type of thing to occur in, we were given some advice. They didn't want a bunch of young and dumb types like us getting into trouble. If you find something, get into trouble, get done over, don't go to the cops as the local system is to lock everyone up first and then work out who did what. They don't work out which of the two parties is the victim, they chuck them both in a cell to start with. And then your troubles start. Go to the consulate. If you have a secret someone is using against you, you may need to choose the lesser of two evils. I bet the secret is the lesser. Another thing they told us was to stay away from the women, as they are easy to pick up and as soon as your pants hit the floor the cops kick in your door and it's a large "fine" to get out of being accused of something nasty. Always go to the consulate first. Stay out of the local system, as you won't get out again easily. They are not designed to let you out.
  18. Can you stop at Gunnedah? I thought it was security controlled?
  19. There used to be a forum under recreationalflying.com that was the RAAus's own version of this site. It was split off from this site a few months ago. But no matter what address I type in I come back to recreationalflying.com. Anyone know where it went?
  20. Is anyone flying down from around Brisbane via Gunnedah on the Thursday? Maybe we can create a convoy
  21. And most importantly, it's Easter. Will the Easter Bunny be there, or anyone who is selling home made Easter Eggs?

    Clever!

It's a South African airline. They are one of the big players there. A low cost carrier. Ryan
  23. My guy does it all the time. You pay 3 hours minimum a day and can take it as long as you want. I've never flown less than that a day anyway. Also check on how fuel works, if you hire wet but then switch to a dry rate after x hours. And make sure the operator is prepared for it, and has tie downs and a way to change a tire in there. Ryan
  24. I'm too tired to stay in a tent. The whole area is booked out. After a long search I got a cheap room in Temora. Even the towns around it are full. Everyone I spoke to said it's all been full for about 2 months. Well if you see a bald guy get out of a white SportStar, come and say hello. There should be a group of them clustered around the Evektor Australia dealer who will be there. Cheers Ryan
  25. Something landed wheels up, apparantly due to landing gear failure according to the SMH article I saw, early this morning in Brisbane.
