You are likely leasing it, as the council owns the land and leases it for set time periods. Typically 20 years. But that means you have a set period to recoup your money. It’s not something you truly own.

Anyone been to the USA on holiday and done a checkout and rented a plane with a PPL, and had a travel insurance policy from Australia cover you? I am not able to find anything on offer that allows it. They all specifically exclude anything with a motor and some call out any aircraft that isn't RPT with you as a passenger.

That was a very good breakfast. Heaps of people and airplanes and a few helicopters. Quite a few biplanes and warbirds. I liked how they served breakfast by number so everyone got a fair share. Service was fast too. Would definitely go back. At only $10 it was very good.

Who’s going? I’m heading over from Redcliffe in a C172.

I stopped at Chinchilla and the RSL sent a courtesy van to fetch us. Good steak.

Jaba-who, I drove last time. Lots of parking and we walked past the museum and to the gate, a few minutes only. You need to pay for parking, I think it was $5 a day.

Incident at Redcliffe 23 Apr 18
rdarby replied to red750's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
It's from RFC at Gympie. Not part of the Redcliffe Aeroclub. -
I used the old books, was fine. Redcliffe Aeroclub can do it as well.

What airport are you closed to? I used Aero Dynamic Flight Academy at Caboolture.

The real RA Aus to PPL conversion deal
rdarby replied to rrogerramjet's topic in Student Pilot & Further Learning
It took me about 3 hours for RPL, then about 3 trips to controlled airspace and I think 3 navs. Was easily 20 hours but I benefited from it, I was slacker in my skills than I realised. -

Instructor not familiar with type?
rdarby replied to APenNameAndThatA's topic in Student Pilot & Further Learning
Go to the school at Caboolture, they use Foxbat's. Lots of experience. No way I would get into a plane with someone who wasn't intimate with it. Foxbat's do not fly exactly the same as others, and someone may have a few rough hours until they are used to it. There is no reason you can't find a Foxbat experienced instructor in Brisbane, they are quite common here. -
This is the best thing to do. So cheap and easy over there. I’m glad you had a good time and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your honest write up. It mirrors my own journey from RAAus to PPL almost exactly to the hour! -
In one of the articles it is stated it is not an aircraft based at Caloundra.

It is easier if you have a procedure to guide you. TTTCARES Time - record it and where you are on your map so you can get back to a known point Trace - estimate it. You will be amazed how close a rough estimate of angle is. Turn - Don't over think the angle and don't wait too long Compass - synch the DG to it, if you have one Altitude - make sure it is appropriate for the new track Radio - get the frequency for where you are going Engine - mixture etc. if relevant S - SARTIME. Work out your new timing and amend SARTIME or fuel calculations etc. if needed. Good luck Ryan
