  1. The temp limit is related to the airframe not the engine. FYI the earlier jabs don't have these limits!
  2. Well he is a major in the army so there is a very good chance he definitely is a bully!
  3. Fair enough but that's a fairly minor change right? In general terms the structure is good right?
  4. Seems to me the structure is ok as it is, not that I'm in any way qualified to know the difference between good and bad structures. In my opinion we have a personnel problem and that should be fairly easy to fix. if we had an executive that acted in accordance with the constitution wouldn't that work ok?
  5. Yep sorry jim for hijacking, should have asked in the right thread! Thanks Geoff ill pm someone.
  6. And blaming someone else for the 13000 mistake!
  7. I can't make it to Canberra in feb so how do I go about organising a proxy? Should I just pm someone I think will do the right thing with my vote?
  8. You have my "vote" as we'll jim. A question though, what if one board member wants this information but the majority of the board don't? Can the rest of the board vote to deny the one member the info? Is this what's happening or is it one of the exec that is denying the info?
  9. Hey Tim. Wooden props can last almost forever if taken care of. We have some jab props that have been through a lot in their lives and are still going strong. The one on our 160 has had 3200 hours use and looks good for another 3200! I'd go for wood over metal or carbon just for longevity sake. Btw my wife and I drove past your place this morning at 6.30 and I hit the horn a couple of times in greetings! Sorry we couldn't stop in but we just got to Wollongong after driving for 14 hours!

  11. I got one of those vibrating tool things (like the renovator but ryobi brand), best too, ever made!
  12. We mount our camera on the lower surface of the wing right where the strut joins the wing. The I use zip ties to secure it to the strut just in case. You can also use some duct tape around the suction cup to the aircraft skin for more security.
  13. If you want a cheap EFIS how about this setup: iPad mini, iHud remote EFIS app and the AHRS Mini from Levil for the AHRS reference. The Levil AHRS Mini connects wirelessly to the iPad. You could have the same app on your iPhone as a backup.
  14. I second not losing your log book! I learnt to fly in 1988, quit in 1992 and came back in 2010. I did lose my logbook so have no way of proving my previous hours so learn from my mistake :) What I would do if I had my time over would be to just keep current by doing a little bit of flying every few months or so and. To giving it away completely like I did. Best of luck though whatever you get up to.
  15. I was referring to the valve guides mostly as they're not standard to the engine. These engines are supposedly certified and in a training environment I don't think we're allowed to change anything like that. Just playing devils advocate, I'm all in favour of improving the engines.
  16. But if the aircraft is used for training you can't be making non approved changes can you?
  17. I went flying with a mate last week with him as pic. He called rolling and took off and I noticed the Intercom wasn't working for me ie he couldn't hear me talk but I could hear him fine. I pulled my plugs out and plugged them back in but no good. It wasn't til we were mid downwind he realised he was holding the ptt button down! He has no idea why he did that and he's never done it before, strange but it can happen it seems.
  18. It's funny isn't it, I don't dislike the students thAt try to kill me! Well not all of them anyway :)
  19. I'm guessing your instructor on the day said well done though? And if your instructor/CFi was joking with you then all was well :)
  20. Welcome mate. Enjoy the learning experience, you only learn once and it's the best part of flying IMHO.
  21. Sounds like you did really well and thought it out in those few seconds, well done I would have said!
  22. No I'm saying add a little power after you've already flared (this implies you've already reached the runway) and just concentrate on flying just a few inches above the strip. You'll almost always kiss very gently if you forget about landing :).
