  1. Builders of hot rods discovered many years ago that chromed diffs were much more difficult to cool and could easily boil the diff oil. There is a very good reason why many car parts eg radiators and diffs are painted black. Greg.

  3. A friend in the US sent this to me ( he must have more time to trawl you tube than I do) I thought it was worth sharing. Impressive when you think of it. A B-24 every 55 minutes. Greg. Subject: The Liberator B-24 This is well worth watching also note the commentator, interesting how they described things then. The Genius of Henry Ford. This was BEFORE Pearl Harbor! Ford's B-24 Bomber Plant at Willow Run, MI. Henry Ford was determined that he could mass produce bombers just as he had done with cars. He built the Willow Run assembly plant and proved it. It was the world's largest building under one roof. Even then FORD HAD A BETTER IDEA! This film will absolutely blow you away - one B-24 every 55 minutes. ADOLF HITLER HAD NO IDEA THE U.S. WAS CAPABLE OF THIS KIND OF THING.

  5. Vince Strang is now the proud owner of New Nynja. I had the privilege of doing the initial test flight in Vince's newly finished Nynja on Sunday in perfect conditions at Inverell. As expected it flew very nicely with only a few very small adjustments. Vince has done a great job and should be proud of the result. Congratulations Vince. Greg.

  9. The Nynja is only available with engine mounts for the 912 series Rotax. The Skyranger is available with engine mounts for Rotax 503, 582, 912, Jabiru, Sabaru ea81, most of the VW engines. The engine is less closely cowled in the Skyranger but will require modification for the VW engines as they are a lot wider. Greg.

  12. Both the Skyranger and the Nynja are available with dual sticks. This is a no cost option. Greg.

  15. Having done some research and spoken to a client familiar with the X -air it seem to me that the construction is very similar although the Skyranger appears to be a simpler construction. It is certainly stronger in the undercarriage and generally appears more robust. The biggest point of difference to me is the fact that the X-air will only take a maximum 80 hp whereas the Skyranger is happy to accept 100 hp (much more robust) giving an extra 10 knots extra in cruise. Most 100 hp Skyrangers cruise at around 90 knots, I believe the X-air would struggle at 80 knots cruise with 80 hp. As to the strength of the straight tube and bolted construction, I have seen the results of three accidents involving Skyrangers (none the fault of the Aircraft) where you would expect some serious injuries to the occupants. In all three cases the occupants escaped with only very minor injuries and some bruising. Two of these aircraft are flying again at minimal expense. I believe there are also supply issues with X-Air at present. As the Australian agent for Skyranger and Nynja I am not unbiased but I am trying to be objective. Greg.
  16. Yes the Swift is available with a tail dragger kit, in fact there is no reason why the Nynja can not be configured the same way. Not having built or flown a Hanuman it is difficult for me to compare the two and I won't denigrate another aircraft just to sell one of my own. I have built and flown a Skyranger Swift and was very happy with it. In fact I don't know anyone who has built a Skyranger who was not delighted with it. I have recently sold two aircraft to people who have had X-Airs in the past they are both impressed . I am happy to talk to anyone who is considering a Skyranger or Nynja.   20. Great stuff Robyn. It is what we should be doing. Did you run into Doug at Arkaroola. When we were there a couple of years ago he gave us the keys to Dorothy the old 4X4 so we could get out and have a look around. Just the best hospitality around. Greg.

  22. I believe it actually went into the ground fron quite a bit more than 20 ft and under full power after a full power stall. Pilot opened the door and limped away. That aircraft has to the best of my knowledge not been rebuilt. Greg.
  23. I spoke to Wall when he was at Bert Floods about this. His recomendation was that the oil temp should reach 100 deg at least once on each flight to boil off any condensation in the oil. I try to run mine on 105 deg and CHT on 105. Does not always work out that way. I have seen the oil temp thermostats and they seem to work OK but add quite a lot more pipework under the cowl. Greg
  24. My First Skyranger Swift cost well over $60,000 when I built it in 2006. The euro has come a long way since then, thankfully. Greg.
  25. Hi Stillhere Scott's Nynja is quite well equiped and would probably be at the upper end, cost wise. A Nynja can be built for around $62-65 thousand using all new components. A skyranger will be about 5-6 thousand cheaper depending what options you choose. Has to be just about the best value for money around. Greg
