  1. I wonder if these idiots realize when you go negative like that it doesn't just effect the passenger with the seat belt undone but the fuel in the tank and float chamber and the oil in the sump. All of which rely on a pick up at a low position and all are critical to the continued operation of the engine. And now someone is dead well done you wankers, hopefully CASA will act and appropriately.
  2. On the local TV news 1770 flights are back in operation.
  3. I'm thinking something is wrong with this picture but it probably is best to wait for the official report seeing as there will actually be one.
  4. I would have thought that beach at low tide would be an ideal place if you had an engine failure unless you were low when it happened and could not line up with the beach.
  5. In the local paper they are saying the pilot was a hero because 'He crashed plane on beach so no one would drown' for me that leaves more questions than answers. Also they are saying it happened on Middle Island is that aeroplane beach? I have landed on aeroplane beach it was a excellent landing area hence the name but I am pretty sure it was not on a Island.
  6. I don't really know but what I do know is that pilots that are not instructors try to teach people to fly and endorse them in planes. If that guy was an instructor then he should not have been, unless something went wrong that we don't know about that accident should never have happened.
  7. It looked like they decided to go around and did nothing about the affect of sudden full power has on a slowed down aircraft ie the swing to the left. The bounce did not look that bad to me I thought what was needed was some power and set up for another flare, instructors do this all the time that guy did not appear to be an instructor.
  8. I own and fly drones but I would never do what that bloke did, a drone has the ability to fall like a brick and kill someone. If people start doing stuff like that it will end very badly.
  9. Some how I just can't see anyone spoiling one of those things with a nose wheel.
  10. Could somebody PM me a contact ph no or email address for Chris Siemers please? Regards Richard.
  11. You can see the shadow of the plane spinning just before it hits. Pretty sure there would have been a fire if there was fuel left in the tanks with that sort of impact. That would be so unlikely.
  12. On one of the links there is an "aviation expert" saying the endurance of that plane could be less than 3 1/2 hours.
  13. Sad but true it probably ran out of fuel then stalled out of balance causing the spin.
  14. Yes somethings about this are a mystery. I thought the controller sounded he was yet to choose which runway to use. It also sounded like she had not got onto downwind yet. He says straighten up twice with urgency then nothing.
  15. Not very. Its almost like if you lose power just pull the rip cord and hope for the best.
  16. Ok it is just that the spin seemed to happen immediately after the controller said straighten up.
