  1. Been happy with Aero Refuellers but they recently lost BP so I also now have a Skyfuels account. I use BP at my home field, Moorabbin.
  2. I get a carton of Shell oil from Tysons at Moorabbin Airport every now and then - they are Mobil fuel but the Shell agent next door doesn't stock oil (or at least doesn't sell it to people like me). The BP agent gets his Shell oil from Aviall but you need an account there.
  3. I use Mike Jorgensen - actionairimages.com | Facebook Mike is based in Qld however consider calling him as he would be happy to do it if visiting for another reason. The guys at Red Baron Welcome are always doing that sort of stuff - give Joel a call.
  4. Yep, a very long, hard walk to civilisation.
  5. Thanks for that, beautiful part of the world - I lived in the Salt River Ranges, in a valley through which the Salt River ran. Not really tiger country - mountain lion, moose and bear common however.
  6. FAA reviews AOPA medical course - AOPA
  7. We must do some formation stuff next.
  8. Your comment is quite a bit different than that reference which states: "Elevator authority will be reduced with no power so the flare will take longer to execute and speed will bleed off faster with no residual idle thrust from the prop." That and the associated text is consistent with the airplanes that I normally fly, looks normal to me. When teaching people in the Decathlon I alert them to the reduced height needed to commence the flare during a "glide" approach. In a Pitts the best glide speed is higher than normal approach speed so, like that reference, it is important to maintain that speed right down to the flare. I see many people letting the speed decay at 100 ft or so as warned about in that article. I have very little time in an RV, just interested. http://www.jasonbeaver.com/rv7/articles/How%20To%20Land%20An%20RV.pdf has similar statements to the reference above.
  9. Hard to answer that without knowing what you want to do with the aeroplane? Others have mentioned a J-3 - I'd get a Clipped Wing J-3 myself and keep it on the US register. But that's not as useful as a 7ECA. My 8KCAB is even more useful.
  10. I just keep it on my phone.
  11. the Chief Flying Instructor at the school would have a keen interest in this as he/she is responsible for standardisation there. Regardless, the CFI would be happy to chat with you anytime regarding your progress.I sometimes haunt Moorabbin, always happy to talk flying.
  12. Howdy! I lived in Afton, WY for a few years. Flew over your way a couple of times in the mid-90s.
  13. Market Announcement - Agile Underwriting Services commences Aviation insurance offering - Aerosure
  14. Great effort. Just a quick unsolicited comment, just eyeballing it with no calcs done but it seems to me that the vertical tail could be bigger - I've always said that it is better to have a bigger one than smaller.
  15. Caught up with Joel recently and he is still going ahead with the project.
  16. I like a Raven (or the original Haigh) on a Pitts S-1 - it can be locked straight so tames the aeroplane (at least once the wheels are on the ground).
  17. Seen the new advanced stalling and incipient spin elements in Part 61 MOS? Yes indeed, even more so with the new Part 61. My opinion is that the advanced stalling/incipient spin exercises require an instructor with a spin training endorsement (consider also CASA's new definition of aerobatics).
  18. i guess that question had a very specific context? The rules are clearly explained in a series of ACs.
  19. useful to read Reg 212 first ...
  20. yours approved by CASA iaw that reg?
  21. my recollection is that one of the rules states that you only have to be available for SSAA ...
  22. Treat every landing as a xwind landing.
  23. Yep. My flight training business from which I earn taxable income is a private operation.
