    Hand-proping shows. Just how tight a motor is , even before putting the plugs in to fire it up . The poh says 30 revolution's to make certain oil pressure is good . Then put the plugs in to go . ' Hopefully ' It all went to plan . & my weight is getting good. 105 down to 86 kgms. spacesailor

    It was trialed in the " NorthSea gas " . Pipeline welding . I almost had a job there . But it wasn't taken up . spacesailor

    A very economical motor . Two litrs engine oil . And 3 litrs fuel for 30 minutes flying . ( dreaming of " soaring like an eagle " ). No tyre wear at all , disk brakes hanging along side the undercarriage. No wear there also. And less than 15 hours on the " New " motor .( very tight for the first 5/6 hours ). my dream machine . spacesailor

    To inhibit the Hummel-Bird motor . IS a huge waste of my enjoyment , as my demise will mean it's trip to the ' scrapyard ' . Such a wast with only one granddaughter ,with a love of flying . Alas , no way to pay those flying lessons cost . With two sons & a nursing career , Just started . spacesailor

    Low heat welding was tried in the sixty's . Tested and discarded. ( Eutectic ) . But I did like their super hard overlay, with a different weld to the base , then the hard weld onto. Tested against a " cold " chisel . the HHS hard-weld . split the chisel a quarter way down it shank . Used to rebuild bulldozer teeth . spacesailor

    I'll have check !. I have changed the oil twice . First was running in oil. Second was hours . take offs nill. no blooody certificate . Just dreams with that motor running . As per monthly run . spacesailor

    But those ' lower ' educated wan-a-be's . Will still have big problems getting through their test's. Not just a safe pilot . Pass that " basic " then more & more ,tests keep coming. Is the ads-b .proficiency test on the cards yet . We can't have uneducated usage. Like radio , must pass a stringent test . Even tho you have other radio transmitting licenses. & still not from ground to air . Like my CFI told me " I'm wasting his time " . ' netflix ' cheaper than a couple of hours gasoline. And I don't upset the CFI .LoL spacesailor

    Yes . I got that one some time ago . Then was asked for more " hands on " information. That was from an administration officer, who only has ' big ' plane dealings. He wanted a " look-see ' at were he/they shouldn't tie a pull rope , W7hen dragging a ' wreak ' to safety. A little out of the loop nowadays, So, wondered if at an airshow , could an invite to SES / fireless, spacesailor

    As an aside!. The SES & Fieries have asked for , information plus training to deal with those, Ballistic Emergency Parachutes . I never heard anything being done . spacesailor

    The Hummel Was designed to collapse in a segmented way . As one survivor put it, " it seemed to collapse around me " . After an almost Vertical crash into a parking lot .     How does a pilot with a brain tumour, get to keep his licence , with the only , ( to date ) . Infringement, he must fly with a duly qualified pilot , Who has the ability to take command. Flying commercial, not passenger Cessna twin . spacesailor

    Three wheels , thats another economic advantage. As all , seem to replace their tyres by the due date , & not when worn out . I haven't heard much discussion on other replacement by date car parts. Like that carbon canister, seat belts and safety ' airbags ' . All have a limited lifespan. Those tyres for my neighbours Tesla will frighten him when they need replacement. spacesailor

    A long time ago I could have bought a ' brand new Jab ' . Cheaply. Made by a Sydney university as a teaching aid, then sold at the conclusion of the course. And the cost to that University was less . So another one for the next student intake . Who stopped that great idea ?. spacesailor

    All of the above, excluding two seats . Took me to my Hummel-Bird. Plans built ( cheaper than made for you ) . Aluminium, easy to work with . Fairly fast , 80kn cruise, Economic, 6 ltrs per hour . Engine choice Wheels, td or trike, And good looking. Dave Kings spacesailor PS survivability
