Dwayne has horrific life changing injuries but they are non life threatening . He will be in hospital for at least a few months . Stay safe peeps :)

Yep agree and Dwayne hated them little un scale wheels and planned on replacing when finances permitted

Thanks everyone for your concern :) Firstly I'm fine ! I'm saddling up for a Fly this morning... For those interested in the human element : Dwayne suffered some very horrific and shocking facial injuries and his lower body was crushed. He was listed as stable put in a coma and underwent the first of many surgeries ( plastic surgery).. During theaccedent he stayed conscious and phoned for help. He also left a detailed note to his wife outlining his track to my house and then the rest of our days flying. His wife was able to find him and call for help. I arrived on scene within 15 mins as Dwayne lives close by..... For those interested in the crash. Shortly after take off at around 700 ft HIS BELOVED tiger moth had a total engine failure He attempted to put her down in the first paddock directly ahead but the paddock was freshly worked with lime rock scattering throughout. The plane wheels sank in the loose top soil on impact and struck rocks and the tiger nosed over instantly tearing it apart. . I have to wait for DwAyne to recover before I can inspect the engine ( yes I'm a qualified automotive engineer) incase it turns bad as they may need to look at the plane again. We have the plane at home... Dwayne has vowed to fly again believe it or not :). Stay safe every one. And PLEASE practice your emergency proceeders often :).

He is stable. But a real mess. I was not with him when in happened as I was home waiting his arrival.i was at the scene within 15 mins... No need to speculate ... Engine failure and Come in very fast over a fresh ploughed Rocky paddock the plane flipped on touch down .. It nice to be told by police you need to move the wreckage emediatly so his son, his wife and I were left to remove it..... Oh and the media.... Stop calling my house and using pics of me and my nieuport. It WAS A TIGER MOTH.

IM ASSISTING INVESTIGATES !!!!!!! And giving statements... NO TIME. sheesh ANY WAY. Now I have a spare few minutes before removing aircraft for storage... My best mate put his beloved tiger moth down in a lime rock filled paddock. The out come was horrifying as he suffered severe facial injuries and internal injuries , he remained conscious and was air lifted to adelaide , just told he now stable.... When I speak to him I'll give more details.

I'm working on a mechanical device run off exhaust pressure to turn a set of spring steel paddles around , then when firing , you engage a flat piece of spring so the paddles slap on it creating a gun noise. It's a work in progress as flat out With a jack Flyer stuff

All LW-1 models are 400 kgs. ( stupid I know ). Howie reckons theyshould weigh around 205 kgs empty. Most came out certified with a 532 .( he did do some experimenting with others I believe)But most were changed since, mostly with 582, however others with anything ( just found out mine had a Subaru once). If it does not have the original engine ( and every thing else for that matter) and has no E/O then jump in line and be prepared for the long wait ( I hear crickets) .. MORAP would be the option. Regarding weight unfortunately howie says NO.. To get it back to 480kgs a lot of expensive mods are required . Hope this helps
