  1. Was watching this guy's Corby Starlet build and came across one of his other video posts. What an ace looking plane...looks a bit like a sleek Corby and I want one :).
  2. Little OT... I'd admit I'm probably one who this wisdom is lost. The message is lost in the volume of content I'm afraid. We had an email drafted to be sent to staff by our internal communications people. The email was instructional and informational so quite long so before we sent it, we offered a prize towards the end of the email. Suffice to say that no one collected. ..back to topic Ak
  3. I don't post much because there's a lot of negativity on this forum. For what this thread should have been, check out the other 'Natfly 2014 Video' post instead. Ak
  4. Some photos from the Airshow...enjoy. Ak
  5. I was in the super Tiger with the same young pilot (Jack) the day before -not the tiger moth featured fortunately. I went up for the mild aerobatic option they have available. Jack seems like a very competent young pilot. After the aerobatics and we got back to the field, Jack did a fantastic side slip landing and touched down perfectly. It was so smooth I had to double check we were actually on the ground. I'm not surprised he did a great job of putting the plane down. http://au.news.yahoo.com/video/watch/21090760/vintage-plane-lands-on-beach/ Ak
  6. The Aviators is informative and all, but I like the dramas of Dangerous Flights, Flying Wild Alaska and Ice Pilots. From the Aviators, my favourite episode must be the one they did about "Heavens Landing" - now that's an air park! Can't recall what season that was though. Quick google search should find it. Ak
  7. The half wing f15 was discussed at length here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=421426&page=2 Make of it what you will Ak
  8. That was some ramble! I loved reading it :).

    Onex Story

    Hmm...that makes it palatable!

    Onex Story

I'm not a fan of the sonex looks, but the onex is very nice! Exchange rate is good for it now though isn't it? What extra costs would be incurred though if you were the first to bring one in? All the certification costs? Ak
  11. Congrats mate...I've been flying RC model and flight-sims (not MS) for years too so getting through the initial bits were pretty easy. Unlike you though, i had to work through my bad flight-sim landing habits - apparently just getting it on the ground isn't good enough in real life ;). Also as you've probably found, it's quite different getting the real feedback and actually having to think about things going wrong is quite a novelty! Ak
  12. Long shot but would any of the passengers or crew have an iPhone with "Find My iPhone" enabled? Ak Edit: unfortunately it does require Internet connection.
  13. I wish this had happened to save the Wallan air strip. I'm just on the other side of the highway from it but I'd be practically be living at an airfield if it was still there :(. Don't let them develop it like they did with wallan! Ak
  14. Wishful thinking I suppose, but Wallan was supposed to be a nice balance between city and country to bring up my young family on a 2.5 acre block. Since I've been here all of 3.5 years, there's been a flurry of *urban* style housing developments including the airport. I suppose if you want to save the airport, you'd need to get in before the housing development even starts. Unless you live in the shire, you'd probably never know (??).
  15. A little off topic, but anyone in Vic know what happened to Wallan airport? I wished someone had saved it...I moved here to be near airport, then they closed it and built a housing estate there instead. Ak
  16. Check out the video on the f14! How cool is that!? Ak.
  17. Great write up! That's one on my list if only because it's too far to drive :). Ak
  18. Is it same ones discussed on this thread? http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/ebay-bargains.39400/#post-218704
  19. Very nice Sav Mark...Never really liked the look of the sav, but what a difference a colour scheme makes. Yours and the blue one on RAA members market makes me want to get one! Ak
  20. Great story Eric. I have my ears on the rails for a pre-loved plane one of these days, so I'm very envious of your situation ;).
  21. Thanks Nev...i wouldn't be automatic on any of that at the moment. I'm learning to fly in a high power nose wheel a/c with fixed pitch prop but wanted to keep my options open for the type of plane I could fly or buy later on which is the angle I'm coming from. Ak
  22. In addition to the pax and xcountry endorsements, I'd like to eventually get tail dragger and variable prop endos. What's required for these? * Are they just hours or some sort of testing as well? * What kind of hours would constitute these endos? And as a side note, are low and high power endorsements mutually exclusive? Thanks... Ak
  23. Congrats ayavner! Well done mate... Ak
  24. They're asking for investment for 2040 delivery or was it 2014?? 2040 is an awful long time. Ak
  25. @Doug, mnfaria, shafs64...thanks! It WAS an awesome experience and now I just want to go flying all the time. But for now, I have been reading the nav solo threads and very much looking forward to that next "solo first". Ak
