  1. Whilst that particular one is British, it's also got Czech heritage, and ultimately was placed on the VH- register
  2. Hurricane, touched on by Hillson to create a slip-wing version
  3. That'd be the Corben Super Ace at YNRM
  4. Lockheed Model 8A Sirius 'Tingmissartoq' [rego NR211 kind of gave a hint ]
  5. I was thinking it might have been a RAAF KC30A MRTT
  6. West Wyalong looking down along 27
  7. Ha! I wish. Not likely with the wages out there. Reality intervention means I'm happy with the XL
  8. This one (VH-GTE) was the original Blanik modified to Dafydd Llewllyn's specifications back in the early 80's. I spent many enjoyable hours in her while owned my our local club.
  9. As far as the mini goes, I can see that it probably will come down to the CASA rep on the day whether it is suitable or not. That is, unless it is written down unambiguously. The unfortunate thing is that I've finally given in to buying something with that little "i", only for the reason that the chance of OzR or AvPlan catering for android is so remotely miniscule. The mini would be my preference over the full size, but its a bit of a gamble at this stage.
  10. Not quite the way events unfolded. A motion was raised, but before voting, the chair stated that the oportinity to speak against that motion should exist if anyone wanted to. This occurred, and after that, the mover withdrew his motion voluntarily.
  11. The paddock that they came down into looks practically ideal for an emergency landing from the photos http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2012/11/cirrus-sr22-g3-turbo-gts-vh-wyh.html
  12. I don't really see the problem. In some ways it is actually easier to log on than the old system (unless you were backdooring the system in the first place). PC's or phone... haven't had any problems since the change.

Righto, the prop is a 68 inch 3-blade. On initial climb off the deck, we pull around 4900 rpm, and then increase to 5200 once airspeed climbs. Just had a look at the data from my flight back from Gawler the other week, and thanks to a little tailwind, I was up to 165kts over the ground at 17L/hr.

We've got the GSC 3-blade prop, set fairly coarse, but still allowing a 1500fpm climb. By heat issues, I can only assume over-cooling. The only time both CHT's are in the green is during the climb. During cruise, the temps are generally too low, with one CHT sitting into the yellow range. On a prolonged climb (>5000'), the oil might get up to 105, but that's about it. We've only just started to remove the tape that was reducing the airflow to the cooler. This is the same situation for the other XL on the field here.

That's interesting Phil, 5200 for us is 115kts with the 912S

  17. That would be this one http://www.ntsb.gov/aviationquery/brief.aspx?ev_id=20111230X50438&key=1 With the approach obstacles on either side, it could have been pretty messy if he wasn't in a glider that had such short wings (12m)
  18. After initial training in a Gazelle, I then tried on a couple of Jabs, moved onto a Tecnam Sierra, and then finally lost the training wheel when we finished our bird. Fast forward to now, and I can say the majority of my flying has been in a taildragger. There's just something sweet about them
  19. Yep, watched all of it so far. Unfortunately, some of the editing just gets frustrating, like when they show different mounted camera angles, but don't hide that they are from different aircraft, or when they repeatedly show a 208 flying past, but mix it with the sound of the 150. Otherwise, great show!
  20. Nice set of wings Still amazes me how well they perform!
  21. "Notice that they do not so much fly as... plummet" (thud)
