    May be a silly question, but I've seen reporting on several instances of ground mishaps where a wingtip hits something. Why don't they have some sort of proximity alarm when there's a solid object in front of the wingtip?

    The only problem with motorbike gloves is that it might be hard to manipulate small switches, toggles etc. Depends on the type I guess. I wear leather gauntlet gloves on the bike and they're not very supple.

    If true, it's not a good look for the company that instead of taking a reported incident seriously by 2 long term senior staff, they cover it up and fire the reporters. That leads me to ask what else they cover up.

    None of them are particularly related either, apart from the 787 with "suspected technical snag" whatever that is (complex sausage?) which did a precautionary turnback. A bomb threat and a low fuel fighter have nothing to do with the Air India crash.

    Just watched this, it's on SBS on demand. Guy Martin learns about jet engines, trains in a Jet Provost, builds a model jet engine in one day (yeah maybe) and finally gets to fly a DH Vampire around the Swiss Alps. Good watch!
