  1. Worth every penny I reckon too Derek. Good luck with the sale!
  2. I'm not talking about the BRS, I mean the "Safe Return Emergency Autoland" - big red button the passenger can push if something happens to the pilot. Apparently it takes into account nearby terrain, weather, remaining fuel, winds etc to calculate the nearest suitable airport and runway. Squawks 7700 and advises ATC of the situation with text messages. Flies the plane down to landing and to a full stop. All without the passenger touching the controls. There was an article about the Vision Jet G2+ in the latest Australian Flying magazine which went through its capabilities.
  3. Don't the more expensive Cirrus planes have it?
  4. Inside thoughts and outside thoughts, PM! 😂
  5. I don't think people will want to come 20km south of Hobart then down our steep & dodgy driveway for a tin of paint.
  6. No distributors in Tas by the looks of it, OT.
  7. Thanks KR, the sponge on a string is a good idea. Given it's open at one end, I could probably use a sponge attached to a smaller diameter tube as well. Brendan - good idea, but the spars are around 2m long so cost might be an issue.
  8. Hey all, I'm at the stage of cutting and installing the wing struts. These are seamless chrome moly tubes. I've cleaned up and sprayed the outside of the first one with etch primer, and now I'm thinking about the inside. What's the best way to rust proof the inside of steel tubes, that aren't sealed on the ends and are on the outside of the aircraft? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Marty
  9. Hi Mike, the Zenair people sell bigger than normal forks but don't know if they go to 26". Have you posted a topic on Zenith.aero? Cheers, Marty
  10. There must be an interesting story behind that.
  11. I must get on to JG at some point for elevator VGs. Apparently the 701 is much nicer at low speeds with them on.
  12. Quote from "Flight of the Intruder" - "Son, don't EVER ask a man if he's a fighter pilot. If he is, he'll let you know soon enough. If he's not - don't embarrass him!"
  13. Welcome Micus! Your build looks like it's progressing well. I believe there's quite a lot of support for Zenith builders in Canada. All the best! Marty
  14. If it's the same stuff I got with the muffler, Rotax supply a stainless "donut" so you can cut whatever curves you want out of it, as well as straight tube. I did the cutting myself based on a wooden mockup of the engine then got an experienced welder to join them. Having said that I was slightly too long in one so had to re-cut, I need to either get him and his welding equipment here to do it in place, or take the lot up to him and hope that it fits after. I think I'll try to get him here.
  15. Surely all owners would have to sign some sort of legal agreement that the flying activities are an integral part of the development, as part of the sale agreement. If the 60% really don't like planes I can't see them buying a place on an airpark. (Mind you I do understand that people are illogical creatures at times.)
  16. FINALLY my rivets arrived... only 4 months since ordering, the company had somehow lost the original order and had to redo it. So I bought some windscreen mastic, masked off the edges of the windscreen and top screen, and screwed / riveted it all together. It's strange seeing it now without the clecoes that have been there for the last couple of years - she's had a haircut!
  17. I was in Hobart on Saturday and noticed a light aircraft doing fairly steep turns over the city. Wondered what he was up to so flicked on FlightRadar24 and was quite surprised when I saw his track. Almost looks like he's flying over all the roads in the CBD - same angles. Privately owned C182 RG. Any guesses as to what he'd be up to? PS don't say "cropdusting"...
  18. As long as it's not a Hillsong...
  19. That was me, just having learned to hang glide at 23.
  20. Short Skyvan isn't it... I made a R/C model of this when I was about 18, with 2x .25 OS motors I think. Never actually flew it for some reason. You must hate my plane then!
  21. Oi, as the owner of a square sectioned fuselage.... I resemble that remark!
  22. I hope the one in the top picture didn't go "pop".
  23. To clarify, in my case I changed all 3 tyres, not just the nosewheel. If that's not enough then either the prop diameter, engine position or landing gear height would have to change, none of which is easy or cheap.
